I have to stop getting attached to characters that only exist in one (1) item description
#misc.txt#(this post is about finlay)#not to be cringe but the trope of 'loyal soldier devoted to their leader until their dying breath' does things to me#like#regardless of what route she took or if maybe there were secret tunnels or whatever#caelid to the haligtree is a long long LONG way to carry an unconscious demigod#let alone one that just exploded with rot. and ik that the cleanrot knights are already rotting but#I feel like carrying malenia in that state for that long would probably be a bit like sitting directly on the chernobyl elephant's foot#I'd imagine she must have died shortly after making it there#the sheer exhaustion would have been enough#do you think she was even fully conscious by the time they arrived#do you think she was aware that she'd made it#do you think she died satisfied knowing that her duty was fulfilled#do you think she looked back at the trail of rot through the tree behind them#for angst reasons#I like to think she collapsed as soon as she made it to malenia's arena. a rotted shell locked in place on its knees still holding her#after just. marching mile after mile after mile#with everything else eventually rotting away except for one singular purpose that kept her going when she should have been long dead-#-until they made it somewhere safe and then she knew it was ok to go#I'm extrapolating a lot of headcanon from like 2 sentences but FUCK
