For my final album I am of course, no surprise, sharing "Grease." Grease is the word, is the word that you heard. Well, the Christmas I got my #Grease album and my bike was the best Christmas ever. Full stop. The best memory of this is going to see it at The Cinedome with my Mom. During "Beauty School Dropout" she started laughing so hard that she was crying and she couldn't stop. I was 8 and had no idea why it was so funny but watching my Mom laugh like that was the best. The guy sitting two rows in front of us turned around and whisper yelled "WHAT'S SO FUNNY?!" She laughed harder. My neighbors and I used to play dress-up to "Grease" too. We'd put on old pantyhose with runs in them, dresses, and out of date clothes and act out the movie. I made the rule that I got to play Sandy because my hair feathered. We would dance and sing and have a blast. Going back to childhood today. @shankapotamus76 and I would play this over and over. Between this record and the VHS we have the entire movie memorized. My parents also played the movie at our theatre in Downey, Idaho. Between this and "The Rescuers" full movie album, it was like having our own private movie theatre. Trying to decide on a song to play on the year Anniversary of losing my Peanut was tricky. First I wanted something funny because he was so naughty. If you could see the faces I make when I silently sing along karaoke style while I record these, you would all laugh off your collective asses. This album I also have on cassette and Tellie and I would sing this word for word on the way to school or anywhere frankly. I rummaged and found the first mixed tapes I started to make as an annual event. Here's my #WhenImTwentyFour tape. I tried to play it but hooboy the sound is so low and distorted. The story behind my getting this album is one of my favourites. My Uncle Steve used to come and stay with us when we lived in Idaho, so he and my Dad could go bird hunting. When he'd stay over he'd get my room because I had a double bed. He always felt so guilty for taking over my room so he wanted to get me a gift. He went to Grand Central and asked the workers to help him. He told them "well, she likes that George guy?" They thought he meant Boy George so they picked out a bunch of #CultureClub albums and added #TearsForFears to the mix. He picked this one because it looked the most grown up. I cried when he gave it to me because I thought it was so thoughtful. Today is for Mom. Her record collection is pretty tiny in comparison to Dad's. Even so, she taught me to love musicals and one of her all time favorites is #Carousel. I was playing it over the phone today so she could help choose the songs. During "There's Nothing So Bad For A Woman" she giggled at the line "and God knows what all night." Her favourite is "Soliloquy." This is of course the original cast, not the movie version everyone might know better. She'd play this. Not my favourite @thebeatles album (Revolver is the best, come at me) but most definitely the most intriguing cover. Plus, it has #Yesterday and #DriveMyCar (which is my Dad's favourite.) I would play this album and have a serious disconnect between the music and the photo. I mean, I was 10. My Dad used to try and scare me that they were real dead babies. Of course today had to be #WHAM! I don't have all of their albums on vinyl, I'm missing "The Final," the compilations and the mixes. (I have those on CD) This version of "Fantastic" is an import and I had never played it before today. It was sealed (resealed as a like new.) It has one scratch that makes a skip but that's part of vinyl. At the end of the post are all my vinyl singles by WHAM! as well. "Ray of Sunshine" is my song that plays on repeat on "Fantastic." I'm smiling from start to finish, and still after the song is over. WHAM! and @georgemofficial are my happy place. Here's my Mr. Pickwick Players and Singers "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" album. We had a flood in our basement in Idaho, early 80s, and a bunch of my early childhood books were destroyed. Also some albums were warped in addition to this album cover a total loss. About 20 seconds in on "Easter Parade" you can hear the warping. My favourite was "Rubber Duckie" which of course I memorized. My friend had me sing it and record it so she could use it to ask a guy to a dance in high school.
