just finished 5.09 and first of all I LOVE a good hostage situation episode (episode "the bank shot job" of leverage my beloved) but more importantly OOOO THIRTEEN WANTS TO LIVE OOOOOOO

also I know vaguely from spoiler osmosis that both huddy and foreteen end Badly but I'm still Excited about them.

The rundown job (5.09) is good for innumerable reasons but it's also Very funny bc it's an international disaster in the making with an elaborate plan that took years to prepare but for the ot3 it's just an extremely stressful morning they stumbled into by accident and solved with no prep and the contents of hardison's satchel

okay but are we ever going to talk about how in the rundown job parker, parker is the one to basically profess wedding vows

not hardison, the softie who has been head over heels in love with the other two since day one. who pack bonds and never lets go.

not eliot (although his declaration comes later), who underneath all that hard exterior has a soft heart. a man who will lay down his life for the ones he loves.

the girl who was lost and alone, broken, without any real family when the show started. who took a long time to fully trust anybody. who took years to feel comfortable enough for a relationship

yet here she is, in the middle of a possible biowarfare attack, professing what are basically wedding vows to eliot

and it’s not just her she’s talking about either. “for better or worse, we change together.” we. her, hardison and eliot. they change together. because they are a unit, a trio- three people bound by some wordless connection that is so strong that it’s implied that whatever they do, for better or worse, they do it together

I love stories like these. It really shows how much of a team and family they all became.

As I noted in a previous post I did some clean-up rewrites based on location, but there are only two scenes I personally take any credit for in this episode. First, the hidden lab […] The second scene was the one immediately following, where Eliot talks Hardison down. The scene had some serious emotional context for the show sure, as it was nice to finally say in text what we felt that relationship had become – brothers. But it had a second layer. A very dear friend of mine was in Air Force Combat Search and Rescue right out of high school. When we were younger, and I was freaking out or insecure or nervous about something, he’d pep talk me. He’d do that neck grab and tuck my head in, because touching helmets like that, that’s as close as you can get in a combat situation. “Fucking relax. Smartest guy I know,” he’d say, often impatiently.

Well, that friend passed, not long before I wrote that scene. So I was writing him in that scene. Writing one of the four or so guys who became my brothers, who lived in my house, ate at my mom’s table, sat around bullshitting in the Burger King parking lot for hours every night, who kept me from being a nervous, shy physics geek who never wrote, never performed, never joked.

When I explained that context to Christian and Aldis and Beth, I have to admit I teared up. And then – and this is why I love them – they dug in on that scene. They’d already rehearsed and committed to it, but then they really brought something extra. Kane in particular, knew he was playing my brother, and ran over after every take to make sure he was landing it. So know that for every time I say “Fucking Oklahoma…” because of some bone-headed stunt bullshit he did, understand I’ll always love him, and Aldis and Beth, for how they acted that day.

So I was rewatching Leverage’s The Frame-Up Job (season 5, ep. 9) for the 25th time and I just realized.... The reason Woodman Gault thought he’d seen Sophie somewhere was because he saw Ma Mystere, WHO IS SOPHIE. I don’t know why I didn’t realize this before but damn. This is what I love about Leverage; so well thought out, so intricate and so many details that you can catch years later.
