A child appears in front of me.
Girl: Did you know King Tut died when he was 19?
Me: I did, actually.
Girl: It might have been cancer or a disease...because it was before Jesus was alive.
Me: Ok.

I was lucky to grow up in a house full of books, lucky to be taken to the library, and lucky to have parents who were great readers and always read to me. It instilled in me a love that will last my whole life. Reading will be my longest relationship.

The lady in the library
So this lady in the library keeps clearing her throat VERY LOUDLY like I can hear it through my noise cancelling headphones hahaha. I'm with Lorenze and we cant stop laughing and can no longer focus on homework.
I keep cracking up because she has been doing it for like 10 minutes straight. Someone get that lady a glass of water!

Current job tasks:
-endless shelf reading of media collection (ugghhh)
-on desk hours with patrons (”Hi, how may I help you?” *aggressively tries to smile sweetly*)
-trying to find the perfect level of sass to use with my various coworkers ;D

The library is the worst group of people ever assembled in history. They’re mean, conniving, rude and extremely well read, which makes them very dangerous.

Shelf reading the media collections for probably the next few weeks, but so far all it’s got me thinking is “Why do we have all these old video tapes and CD-ROMs that probably haven’t been checked out in years?”  Oh libraries, sometimes it’s a love-hate relationship lol :D

via the Wheeler Centre for Books and Writing's daily blog. Thanks guys. I like the notion of librarian as 'data hound, a guide, a sherpa and a teacher'.
Most of this will not be news to librarians who have been examining their roles in the information revolution for some time now - however he does have a way with words, the old purple cowboy.

One does wonder two things: 1. what would a library start looking like if there were lots of these outfits
2. what will happen if Amazon pulls the plug on borrowing?
