And it is then that you realize how much clothing you need on hand, ready for any type of weather conditions. Because even if you need a sweatshirt, leggings, socks, or a raincoat, people will still come and swim. It also means that you will likely go into a depression for a few weeks, because as much as us lifeguards like to complain about our job, deep down we love it more than anything and leaving only makes us miss it more.

As annoying as they are a lot of the time, having kids around you at the pool makes life more exciting and their cuteness can bring a smile to your face.

Even though you could just jump in to cool off on your break, getting a save is way more exhilarating!

I found this YouTube channel recently that posts videos of real rescues. I think it's fun to watch them and try to identify the person drowning before they do or look at the way the lifeguard conducted the save. Let me know if you watch any of them, I'd love to discuss them or share my own opinions!

My roommate was watching football the other day while I was taking a nap. All of a sudden, I hear a long whistle and shoot straight out of bed, only to realize I'm not at a pool and haven't worked in 2 months...

As well as other people's children, the leaves at the bottom of the pool, the unhealthy concession stand food...the list just goes on and on!

I swear sometimes looking at the radar a huge storm is coming right towards us and right before it's supposed to hit, it just swerves the other way
