A large fight breaks out, and wolfstar and a group of rogues attack the clan with the help of GoldfishFur. During the battle, Goldfishfur is thrown into a pit of starving cats and he’s bitten by a snake. He doesn’t have time to succumb to the venom before hes torn apart. 

Wolfstar eventually dies.

a little bit of info important to this story: at my store we have these orange dot stickers (slightly larger than the size of a quarter) that we put on large items that can’t be bagged to show that they were paid for. a lot of the time parents will ask if their kids can have one. kids get so happy over these simple stickers. i’ve started drawing smiley faces on them to make them a little less boring. but anyway, onto the story...

one time these 2 women- they were clearly a mother and daughter pair- came through my line and with them was a little boy who couldn’t have been even 2 years old yet. i’m pretty sure he was the younger woman’s son. so, i’m just chillin, ringing in these ladies’ groceries when all of a sudden they put their baby on the conveyor belt with the food. 

i was a little concerned that he would get hurt so i flipped the switch that stopped the conveyor belt from moving and finish ringing in their last few items. the baby was laughing and his mom was watching him so he seemed fine enough. then his mom asked if he could have a sticker. so i gave her one, assuming she would just put it on his hand or shirt like parents usually do for kids that young. but of course i was wrong

she just gives the sticker to him to hold/play with and then turns away to sort out with her own mom how they’re going to pay. so now neither of these women are paying attention to their baby- who is still on my conveyor belt!! and he is pretty happy playing around with the sticker but then, like all babies do, he puts the damn thing in his mouth. and still neither of these women notice it!

so he’s smacking the sticker around in his mouth while i’m staring at him in a panic, hoping his mom turns around and looks at him. but after about twenty seconds of her still ignoring him i reach into this kids mouth and pull out the sticker, hoping that the poor little guy wouldn’t catch any sickness from my germy hand (our hands get gross as cashiers from all the money we handle), but hoping even more that he doesn’t start choking on it right there on my conveyor belt. of course his mom starts paying attention to him again after i took the sticker away. pretty sure she never knew what happened

and that’s why i don’t let young babies have stickers any more. they’re fucking choking hazards and parents are idiots

alana stumbles outside, unsteady on her stilt high heels. she giggles to herself as she grips the brick. she’s lost one of her nails sometime during the night — the middle one — but she’s too gone to linger on it. tomorrow, she’ll be angry, cursing and muttering about her bare finger. tonight, she is bottled light.

she digs her pack of cigarettes from her boot, smushed by the tight leather. she fishes one out, grinning as she places it between her lips.

alana frowns, patting her body as she searches her black lighter. it’s nowhere to be found; not even tucked in her bra, its usual hiding spot.

‘need a light?’ alana’s eyes snap up. matty leans his back against the balcony. he watches her, amused, his cigarette dwindling away in the night.

‘yeah, thanks.’

matty takes his lighter out of his pocket, flicking it near the tip of her cig. it burns bright, a flash of light in the dark of night. she inhales and pours out gray smoke from her lips. she leans on the balcony beside him, resting her elbows on the fence.

‘it’s a pretty night,’ alana remarks. ‘but we can’t see the stars.’

matty tsks. ‘that’s london for you.’

‘there’s three there.’ she points to the sky dotted with three faint freckles. ‘it’s the summer triangle. they each form one constellation.’

‘i didn’t know that.’

‘it’s some of the brightest stars.’ matty huffs slightly, turning around to find the mentioned lightdusts, or perhaps watch her as she takes them in, grinning slackly. ‘sometimes, i look at the sky and i think it won’t matter. drugs, sex, fame,’ she gestures vaguely between them, ‘this. it’ll dust away.’

‘isn’t it scary?’

‘nah,’ alana smiles, placing her cig back in her mouth. she offers matty a small, indulgent look. he’s pretty, with his flushed cheeks and his plump mouth. he’s looking back. ‘it’s comforting.’

‘do you think a lot about this?’

alana sighs, ‘too much.’ she breathes out smoke, considering him playfully. ‘sometimes, it’s not even all that bad.’

a hopeful thing blooms in his eyes. his smile tugs at his lips. ‘yeah?’

she grins. ‘only sometimes.’
