Photograph of a sea captain taken in Pago Pago, American Samoa in 1925 by my great-grandfather. This guy looks like such a badass. I love the contrast of his T-shirt and wristwatch with his more traditional dress. The lines on his face are also quite striking. He looks like a guy who has seen a lot. The second picture has the caption in pencil. I can't make out the second word so I don't know if it's "Native man" or "Native Maori." If anyone knows how to adjust the settings on Gimp or Lightroomto be able to read faint pencil on black paper, I'd love to hear from you!
