Kauai aus der Sicht von Lihue

Heute haben wir schwerenherzens unser wunderschönes AirBnB in Princeville verlassen müssen und sind nach Li‘hue aufgebrochen. Wir mussten um 10 Uhr auschecken, die Dame zum reinigen der Wohnung klopfte pünktlich um 10 an der Tür und dann machten wir uns auf den Weg Richtung Süden/Osten.

Wir hielten auf dem Weg in Kapaa um einer Schülerin von Kathleen ihr in O‘ahu vergessenes Stethoscope anzugeben und sind dann etwas außerhalb von Kapaa (Richtung Wailua) in eine kleine schooling Meile in die Boutiquen gelaufen und haben ein paar Sachen angeschaut. Und in einem Schmuckladen erzählte eine Frau ganz gespannt von Silvia Earle eine Meeresbiologin, (muss ich mal googeln).

Danach liefen wir runter an den Strand und hatten da unser Mittags Picknick und haben beim Banane essen aufs Meer geschaut und sind dort etwas rumgelaufen.

Danach fuhren wir zum Makauwahi Sinkhole, ohne die Wanderung entlang des Golfplatzes und der Klippen wie beim Klassenausflug, sondern mehr so mit 800m davor parken und direkt reinlaufen… hätte ich das damals nur gewusst…

Nun sind wir in unserem „Hotel“ (eher ein Motel) gelandet das natürlich ein großer step down vom AirBnB vorher war. Winziges Zimmer, inkl eigenes Bad und wahrscheinlich hellhörig und laut mit super weichen Betten, mal schauen wie die Nächte hier so werden. Und ohne sitzmöglichkeiten (roku tv ist vorhanden).

Da Nora nun etwas müde war machen wir derzeit eine kleine Siesta und sitzen hier rum und warten wie die Zeit vergeht bis wir dann die groben necessities einkaufen und uns auf den Weg zu einem Thai foodtruck machen den Nora zum Abendessen ausgesucht hat. Mal schauen wie es wird.

Von hier aus werden wir Waimea Canyon und was es hier sonst noch so gibt erkunden.

Derzeit, bin ich wie immer wenn ich irgendwo neues bin und nicht weiß was kommt und keine Struktur habe, mit der gesamt Situation unzufrieden und noch nicht ganz entspannt angekommen. Oh bin wie immer, nicht vom Hotel begeistert und sehne mich eigentlich nur nach meiner Routine in Oahu und mein Reich dort, auch wenn ich erst noch mal viel Arbeit in meine Publikation stecken muss…

Ich bin schon für die Welt der feinen Resorts und Full amenities gemacht… man könnte es auch spoiled nennen.

En route to the Lihue airport…

Unlike Kona’s airport which is mostly open-air with the exception of the restaurants and shops, the Lihue airport is for the most part enclosed.  We grabbed breakfast at Stinger Ray’s, located in the main area after security before boarding to make the long flight back to Oakland.
