"Deep in The Woods" [Tiny Greenbear & Friends Short Story]

("TINY GREENBEAR" and its characters belong to and were created by @elijahdmgz.)

"Big brother...was this such a good idea?..." Erin asked her older brother as they walked across the moody atmosphere surrounded by trees, plants, grass, and even some twinkling stars up above their gaze.

"Oh, I'm sure of it. Besides, there was something that I wanted to tell you right here at this spot around this exact time." Tiny repiled with a look in his eye.

"Really? What is it???" Erin suddenly piped up, walking closer to her brother as they both stood together in the center of an open area under the stars and trees.

"Sit down and I'll tell ya."

Erin obeyed, with a bit of hesitance as she sat down on the grass.

"Long ago, exactly 4 years ago on this same night, a man named Edward was traveling with his family across the globe, searching for life's answers. He took a quick pit stop around this spot, as he wanted to take a chill from all the adventuring of the past week."

"After he was finished with his lunch, he suddenly got the urge to go let Mother Nature do its thing. Urgent at the fact that his family were still waiting for him, he did it as quickly as possible behind an old dead tree stump, covered entirely with decaying mold and flowers."

"Ewwww!" Erin groaned in disgust, interrupting the story.

"Sis..." Tiny warned with a raised eyebrow as he suggested that he was about to get up and stop telling what happened if she stay silent.

"Sorry sorry, continue on..." Erin apologized with a red shade on her face.

"He finally got his business done, and before you knew it, he dashed as fast as he could, hoping that his family would forgive and forget that he had taken longer than he should've. But then..."

Erin gaped in fear before Tiny continued.

"He came back to find out that his family had all disappeared, with nothing left but the jeep they had all been riding across the road with." Tiny said with an ominous, deadpan tone to his voice.

"Oh my gosh! Is he going to be okay?!" Erin then asked with brimming eyes.

Tiny took a breath in and out before he spoke again.

"Immediately after he came across such a ghastly sight, Edward pulled out his nearest phone at the gas station a few miles down the forest lane and called for 911 to come help to search for wherever his family had disappeared to. They immediately repiled, telling him that they'd be on their way as soon as possible before hanging up."

Erin breathed a sigh of relief at this before trying to get up again.

Tiny raised a smug eyebrow at this and said calmly as he put a hand on her shoulder, "The story's not over quite yet, ya know."

"Its not?"

"Afraid not. Things will only get worse from here."

Erin gasped again before sitting back down immediately with fear and excitement in her eyes.

"Edward knew that, if he dared move back to where he had been before, the police wouldn't find him as easily, so he decided to stay put, all alone at the gas station with nobody else but the person behind the register inside."

"Edward spent the next few minutes, reflecting on everything that had happened on his adventures, before heading inside the gas station really quick to buy a chocolate bar to have as a way to pass the time before help arrived."

Tiny continued, "Minutes to near hours passed, with nothing but the sounds of cars passing by, music from the radio, and the gentle nighttime breeze serving as comfort for Edward while he sat right by the gas station."

Erin then piped up nervously and asked, "When's this gonna get as bad as you said before?..."

Tiny started to smile with a wide Cheshire Cat grin on his face as he repiled, "As Edward finally decided to have the remainder of his chocolate bar, he heard the sounds of footsteps passing by."

Erin covered her mouth in awe as Tiny pressed on.

"Edward thought someone had finally come, after waiting for so long for help, so he immediately tucked away the chocolate bar in his pocket and looked around for the source of the footsteps."

Tiny then pulled out a bottle cap from one of his pockets and placed it on the ground in front of Erin, who stared at it and even smelled it while Tiny continued telling the story.

"All of a sudden, the sound of a soda pop bottle opening echoed from right behind Edward, who pulled out his trusty shotgun from behind his back in self defense, only to find nobody there from where he had heard it from."

Erin nodded rapidly to this, taking it all in, and asked timidly, "And then what, big brother?"

"When Edward turned around back to where he was formerly gazing at, it happened....."

A moment of complete silence occurred before Tiny suddenly shouted directly towards Erin, who had been listening the entire time with eager anticipation.

"SOMEBODY THREW A HAMBURGER BUN WITH MOLDY KETCHUP RIGHT AT HIS FACE!"

"OH NO!" Erin shrieked.

"EDWARD TRIED TO FIGHT BACK WITH THE SHOTGUN HE HAD, BUT THEN THE MYSTERY PERSON GRABBED IT, AND SUDDENLY THREW IT ACROSS THE GAS STATION!" Tiny explained as he threw his arms up with enthusiastic glee in his expression.

"THE TWO THEN FOUGHT HARD ALL AROUND THE LOCATION, WHICH THEN CAUSED THE PERSON BEHIND THE REGISTER TO COME OUT AND JOIN IN OUT OF PURE SPITE!"

"Things looked dire for our hero Edward, but he managed to save himself with pure luck by accidentally pulling out the chocolate bar he had, letting it slip from his hand, dropping it on the floor, and both the mysterious foe (plus the gas station man) slipped on the melting snack that was tucked into his pants and onto the front of the police car that had just finally arrived!"

"Thats stupid."

"Once the dust had settled, the mystery man, who was identified as Sam W. Rot, was arrested for his attempted assault towards Edward. The gas station man tried to also apologize for his rash behavior, but was also arrested alongside Sam." Tiny told.

"Edward told the police officer everything that had happened, and they simply told him that while they were trying to show up, they had managed to find Edward's family at the nearest hospital. Once this information was said, Edward ran off into the night, reuniting with his family at said hospital exactly two and a half hours later."

"Edward was so happy to see them all again that he forgot to ask how exactly did the jeep end up being ruined while he had been away in the woods. They later told him that they had simply fell asleep while waiting, and someone had somehow managed to take the front wheel and cause the crash that resulted in the injuries."

"And so, Edward continued on with his life, promising that while it was important to keep an eye out for his own health, it was equally as important to make sure his family stayed safe too. While he wouldn't end up forgetting what had happened, it felt like just another bad dream that had merely caused a bump in the road in the life of a world adventurer like him..."

Tiny opened his eyes again after finishing the story, only to find that Erin was gone from where she had been sitting at before.

Tiny looked around in worry and was about to get up from where he had sat to go look for her before he felt something in-between his back knee.

He gazed down, only to find that there was a massive stain of chocolate.

Tiny's own eyes widened in fear as he quickly looked at his surroundings, hoping not to see anybody trying to start a fight with him or try to hurt his sis.

Before he could speak up, he then saw something coming out from under the bushes surrounding the area he was at.

Tiny started to quiver in fear as five dark figures came out from the bushes and slowly advanced towards him.

Eyes filled with a child's fear and mouth wide in shock, Tiny had finally cracked open, yelled as loud as he could, dashed all the way out of the woods, and right back into his house, never to be seen again.

The dark figures had stopped walking by the time Tiny had left, and revealed themselves to be Tegy, Lika, Blue, and Shinon all wearing black suits as they pulled off their masks.

Erin came crawling out from under the bushes, laughing hysterically.

"That was awesome, you guys! Thanks a ton for setting this up to teach him a thing or two about trying to pull something like that on me again." Erin told them each with a smile.

Blue said, "No problem! Besides, I hadn't got anything to do right now." He said before pulling a chocolate bar out of his suit's pocket and took a bite out of it.

Lika piped up and asked, "Do you think we went a bit too far? I mean, as stupid as that story was, I dunno if this may be seen as excessive revenge."

Tegy chuckled before reassuring, "This won't probably hurt him in the long run. It's not like that whole story was real or anything, right?"

Erin nodded in agreement before being given a s'more from Shinon and also taking a huge bite out of it.

But as Tegy, Erin, Shinon, Lika, and Blue were all sitting down together under the trees, the distant sound of a radio playing could be heard at the exact same gas station that was mentioned in the story.
