I just read the NYT piece in full (because I couldn’t finish it the other day) and holy shit it’s even more infuriating and deliberately obtuse than I’d read

What in the conspiracy theory fuckshit did I just read

#and the worst part is like many of you have said #is that there is a valid issue at play here #about interpreting art through a queer lens #and the hardships queer artists face #and how important representation is #(and the exploitative nature of Taylor’s performative allyship in the Lover era)#but it ALL gets undermined by her essentially saying ‘famous people owe us their public declaration of sexuality #and if they won’t do it I will’#and everything boiling down to ‘would a straight person WRITE THIS?!’ *ben meme #like the whole tangent about ‘why would a straight person need to hide their rs?!’#BECAUSE THEYRE THE MOST PHOTOGRAPHED PERSON IN THE WORLD?!#then the insistence that the argumentative antithetical dream girl in hits different is her female lover #ITS HER SHES SINGING ABOUT HERSELF #JFC
