ive read a lot of ppls theories about dethklok’s age and tbh i think theres some overestimation of how old pickles is, and how young toki is, so heres my hot takes:

i think the most important thing i think is that theyre all pretty close in age, like at most within a decade of each other. so dethklok is probably in their 40s or late 30s; i think its likely theyre in their early 20s when they get signed on in renovationklok and judging by the way damien aged (thank god we have one character that ages pretty normally to use as a reference point), something like 20 years have passed since then

assuming we use the year 2006 as “the present” for metalocalypse, 20 years ago would have been 1986, which plausibly lines up with adult pickles in snakes n barrels since they were so short lived that he couldve been part of that in the early 80s (which does coincide accurately with the rise of hair metal, and i dont think it would be too much of a stretch to assume in universe pickles and s&b were pioneers) and turned around and been part of dethklok just a couple years after

so using pickles as our reference point, he was canonically 16 when he first picked up a guitar and its implied that snakes n barrels took off pretty shortly after, so he was probably in his early 20s with snakes n barrels, and if we use 1986 as the year they signed w crystal mountain, pickles is no more than 28, and imo probably somewhere around 25-26

we dont have as many good cues for the rest of dethklok, but according to an AMA brendon small did (that i just found), canonically pickles is oldest, then murderface, nathan and skwisgaar are the same age, and toki is the youngest. i would guess murderface is 23-24 and nathan and skwis are maybe as young as 20-21 at the label signing (just for fun, i will say that magnus looks fucking old, like at least 35 if not 40 already)

so next we have toki, who joins dethklok presumably immediately after magnus gets kicked cuz they didnt want to be without a second guitarist. it doesnt seem like a significant amount of time has passed between the signing and kicking since they all look exactly the same, honestly it might even be the same year, for ease we’ll say it is. toki does SEEM a lot younger than everyone else, but its pretty obvious thats bc of trauma reasons and just his personality, so honestly i dont think it would be ridiculous to put him at 18-20. its a stretch but maaaybe even younger, like 16 or 17, although i think 16 is slightly pushing it

so with these values, in 2006 pickles would be 45-46, murderface 43-44, nathan and skwisgaar 40-41, and toki something like 37-40. imo this seems pretty believable in line with their success/fame, again the weirdest one is definitely toki lol but its not like any of them truly look or act their age anyways. anyway, these are hcs of course, but using Math and speculation i think this is as accurate as i could get it with the extremely limited data, i think the one biggest margin of error is not knowing how much time passes between events (snakes n barrels disbanding, kicking magnus) so it is possible that the gaps btwn pickles/toki and the rest of the band are greater, but probably not by that significant of a portion of time
