the Real x-file for jose chung's from outer space is how many takes did david duchovny have to do of the scene where mulder eats an entire sweet potato pie, and did he actually eat the equivalent of an an entire pie, and what did they do with all half-eaten pies that were left over?

There are multiple Stephen King-centric stories to emerge from this past week pertaining to some anticipated upcoming Stephen King movies. And there was an update from writer/director Mike Flanagan regarding how his adaptation of The Dark Tower series is co-existing with his developing Exorcist movie.
Not only has Flanagan been talking about The Dark Tower, but he’s made a couple of fantastic revelations about his new movie The Life Of Chuck (based on the Stephen King novella of the same name), and we have some major behind-the-scenes news regarding director Francis Lawrence’s The Long Walk, which has started production and added to its cast. The King Beat is here to catch you up on all of the developments. Let’s dig in!
Tumblr media
Mike Flanagan’s Description Of Tom Hiddleston’s Big Dance Sequence In The Life Of Chuck Will Make You Want To See The Movie Immediately
Anyone who has read “The Life Of Chuck” has long known that dancing would be a crucial element of Mike Flanagan’s adaptation. After all, the middle section of the three-part story is entirely about an impromptu bit of body moving in public when the titular character gets caught up in the music being played by a busker. That being said, it’s nonetheless fascinating to learn how Flanagan is approaching the sequence in the adaptation – and based on his recent comments, it’s going to put broad smiles on the faces of anyone who watches it.
The most recent episode of the podcast Talking Scared features a number of professional storytellers discussing their favorite Stephen King short stories, and in the 30 minute interview with Mike Flanagan, the filmmaker goes into deep detail about the Life Of Chuck dance sequence. In the movie, Tom Hiddleston is playing the titular Chuck Krantz, and his performance is evidently so delightful that it actually left Flanagan’s face hurting from smiling too much. Said the writer/director,
It's one of those that you read it in a book where dancing is described. And I think King did a really good job with that. You read it in a script where dancing is described. But when you see it and hear it, and we're talking, it's a five-and-a-half minute scene. It's substantial... I've watched people when they watch this, and even people who have seen the movie dozens of times and worked on it... when we were on set filming, it took four days to shoot it, and my face hurt from smiling that long, that sustained, for four straight days. Like, my cheeks hurt by Friday. And, that's the thing I see, is you watch this smile break out over everybody who's, who's watching it.
This description of the sequence in the new film is exactly what one would hope for. The second section of the novella is all about celebrating the random joys of life, with Chuck finding himself caught up in the moment listening to music and finding a wonderful dance partner in a beautiful stranger who also happens to be walking by. It’s a sequence full of effervescence, and it sounds as though Mike Flanagan has worked particularly hard to capture it on screen.
The filmmaker also helped clarify why it is that the movie is earning comparisons to Frank Darabont’s The Shawshank Redemption – which is a film that can be described as an antidote to cynicism. Flanagan explained that his approach for The Life Of Chuck was to make the work sweet but not overbearing:
That joy comes in and it's not saccharine and it's not forced at all. It's kind of undeniably purely joyful. And there are so few opportunities in storytelling to exist in a moment utterly devoid of cynicism and not trying to force an emotional reaction where you're presenting something so purely what it is that the natural human response is to put down the guards and just let yourself be happy to experience it.
If that sounds like it is a very different mode for Mike Flanagan – a filmmaker best known for his work in the horror genre – you’re not wrong, and he said as much in the interview, adding,
I've never worked on anything that had that opportunity. I'm going the other way. I'm way more interested in making people uncomfortable and scared. [Laugh], you know? That's my whole business. And so to exist in a story that was just bringing forth this kind of earnest and bittersweet and realistic and honest joy and introspection. It's my favorite movie I've ever gotten to work on for that reason.
That’s a terrifically exciting sentiment given the extreme quality of Mike Flanagan’s filmography – but that’s not the only cool update that we have from him this week about his new Stephen King adaptation.

Mike Flanagan Reveals One Key Way The Life Of Chuck Will Differ From His Previous Stephen King Adaptations
Mike Flanagan’s love of Stephen King’s work is unquestionable, and it’s obviously reflected in his work. Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep feature details that are changed from their respective source material, but they are primarily very faithful adaptations. There is, however, one thing that the upcoming Life Of Chuck has that those two movies don’t, and that’s voice over narration that brings King’s words directly to the screen.
In the Talking Scared interview, Neil McRobert highlights a particularly beautiful passage from “The Life of Chuck” about the character reflecting on his impromptu dance while dying from cancer, and while discussing the material, Mike Flanagan explained how the film adaptation demanded that the prose being directly brought to the screen:
Frequently, when you look at things like that, the concept of narration in a movie, it's wildly improperly used, and it's a crutch in a lot of cases. It's unnecessary or it's distracting. This is one of the only times in my life where I looked at it and said, 'It is essential to this story that King's prose be driving and structuring the movie.' And I'm so glad that, that we did it that way. I don't want to spoil who narrates the film, but that's a big part of it. And having the right voice to these words is critical.
Continuing, he added that there is plenty in the story that is visually captivating in The Life Of Chuck, but that voice over narration was a necessary component in bringing it together. Said Flanagan,
It's a literary experience that has some incredible cinematic weight to it. It's visually incredible to watch the stars burn out or to watch a wonderfully classically choreographed dance number or two. All that is there. But then more than any other thing I've ever worked on, the prose was essential. And not just as a King fanatic, not just as a Constant Reader, but just for this particular story, it had to be there.
The Life Of Chuck is set to make its world premiere this fall at the Toronto International Film Festival, and being a completely independent production, it does not yet have theatrical distribution. Fingers are crossed that will change following its Canadian debut and that the movie will find its way to theaters before the end of the year.

I actually didn't even bother watching the second season of Loki because of the cheap marketing and inconsistent storytelling.
It just felt like the plot was lifted off somewhere it would have made sense, and a character with a similar ego was replaced with Loki and goes through an arc that might have made sense for a blank slate character, but not someone who already has a backstory.
Loki doesn't even feel like Loki after three episodes in S1. The whole point of having a show like that just seems to be about the TVA and Sylvie.
Also the whole genderfluid thing. They 'confirmed' it in the promo and had a line in the script that went completely against anything they just said.
I knew at once that the writers, directors and other parts of production were really just pulling it in different directions and it would probably sound like a jazz trumpeter and a metal guitarist trying to improvise after knowing each other for 15 minutes.
I've been meaning to watch it just so I can have educated opinions on all of it but it's just,, so hard to get into. I definitely agree the marketing was cheap, they did with the 80s McDonald's like they did DB Cooper!Loki and made it centric to the advertising because McDonalds was also getting something out of it which is kinda ass seeing as realistically Loki Laufeyson would burn 6 of them down before he ate in one 😭
I personally don't like either of the major ships in the show but the forced Sylki shit in season 1 really got to me. Like not only did she completely replace him as the main character in HIS show, she's also a variant of him who he wants to make out with and overall it just reads as lazy writing and it's extremely disappointing that Mike Waldron has been put in charge of Multiverse of Madness and The Kang Dynasty since, due to the popularity of the Loki TV show. I was talking to my boyfriend about this last night but it kinda reminds me of the complaints people had ab the last Indiana Jones movie but opposite? Like everyone complained his best friend's daughter was gonna replace him bc she's a Mary Sue and she rlly isnt, she's more reminiscent of Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark she just doesn't wanna fuck him. But the difference is Indy is a character who's majorly blank for little boys to project themselves onto. Which is great!! It works for those kind of movies, but they're not character development centric like the individual mcu movies tend to be. Loki is characterized in a way that he's drowning in identity issues and family problems and he experiences growth in every installment whether it be positive or negative. It doesn't make sense to take the formula of an Indidna Jones movie where he meets up with a woman who's typically a love interest and has her own issues that are only slightly touched on because that's not the focus, and they go do the plot.
Sylvie is not an Indy Girl, they straight up are trying to replace Loki with Sylvie. And you can tell the character wasn't supposed to have as much importance as she does in the show bc the character was worked on more after the actress they chose was buddies with a producer ( and this is no hate to the actress I'm sure she's delightful everything I've seen her in in terms of interviews has been lovely ).
I also absolutely agree they should've just made a tva mini series to introduce the tva rather than bringing back a dead character who soon will not make much sense anyway because Tom Hiddleston is getting older (and also he deserves to branch out in his career).
The genderfluid thing was a cash grab and it sucks ass, they just want money for acknowledging things already canon in the comics, same with confirming him as bisexual.
My boyfriend is actually writing a fic on ao3 called Find Me that's rlly good if you want Loki content that isn't related to the show.
(YES this is shameless promotion sshhhhshshsh) but fr the loki TV show makes me more confident in my screenwriting bc t h a t got put on disney plus. I'm also working on a Loki show rewrite in my spare time!!

You take your seat, eagerly waiting for the interview to start. Your production manager, Ethan, has scored you a ticket to a talk show where the interviewee was your childhood best friend, Tom. You hadn’t seen each other in years; he was filming for the new Marvel movie while you were filming your tv show UnEarthing the Past. Ethan got you a ticket as a surprise, and congratulations on a successful first season. You were giddy with anticipation.
“Please help me welcome the one, the only Tom Hiddleston!”
The crowd cheered as Tom walked on stage, waving at everyone in the audience before sitting on the couch across from the interviewer as the clapping slowly died. Logically, you knew he couldn’t see you with all those lights shining in his face - you've been on talk shows before, you know what it’s like - but it doesn’t stop the disappointment from stirring in your chest. Would he even want to see you? Sure, he called you while you were filming, and it made it into the season finale, but that was something different - you've changed since you last saw each other. Would he even want to remain friends?
The first 30 minutes of the interview go well; questions about his role as Loki, if he has any celebrity crushes and all the other typical invasive talk show questions. You were zoning out until one specific question caught your attention.
“There has been some buzz online about you being in the Discovery Channel show UnEarthing the Past. Do you know anything about that?”
Tom chuckles, and your hearts swell, hearing his laugh again in person. “Ah, Mouse, she said it wouldn’t stay in the final cut! Mouse hosts that show; she and I go back to when we were children. She’s my best friend, and I called her to see if she could go to the screening with me, but she mentioned she was busy filming and couldn’t talk. That’s all it is.”
You laughed along with the audience, a faint blush on your cheeks. You tried to keep it out of the final cut, but Ethan thought it would boost viewers to name-drop one of Hollywood's hottest celebrities. You wanted more than anything to attend the screening, but you were in Guatemala researching the Mayan Empire.
The interviewer waits until most of the laughter quieted before asking the next question, one you just knew would be either about you, your show or your friendship with Tom. “Have you watched an episode of her show?”
Tom nods without missing a beat. “I have seen every single one; I even got the cast hooked on it; Sebastian and I watch recordings whenever we aren’t needed on set. I have RDJ dying to meet her. My fiance loves it, too, Zawe hasn’t met Mouse yet, but she wants to so badly. I just haven’t had a chance to get Mouse back to LA; she’s always off on some adventure.”
The audience erupts in “oohs” and “awes.” while your face turns bright red. You wanted to make your presence known, but you weren’t sure how. To your knowledge, this show had a section where audience members could ask questions to the interviewee; you chose to wait until that time to let him know you were there.
“How do you two stay in contact after all these years and having such a busy schedule?”
Tom laughs again, leaning back on the couch. “It’s a shame Mouse isn’t here to answer these. We text each each each other as often as we can, and it’s usually updates on her show or sneak peeks into mine. She loves my Loki costume, so I’ll send her pictures when I get the chance, but she is also obsessed with Sebastian Stan, so just to torment her, I’ll send her a picture of Seb and me together.”
You laugh, but as soon as the next question leaves the interviewer's lips, you start worrying about how appropriate your friendship with Tom really was. “What does Zawe think about your friendship?”
“Zawe doesn’t care. She knows the deep love and respect I have for Mouse. Mouse encouraged me to get into acting in the first place; she encouraged me to pursue Zawe. I do not appreciate you implying I’m cheating on my fiance simply because I am friends with another woman.”
After a brief moment of awkward silence, the interviewer changes the subject, asking Tom questions about Marvel or Zawe, anything other than you and your friendship. It gave you plenty of time to think up your question for Tom.
After another 30 minutes of questions, the moment you have been waiting for finally arrives. The crew member in the audience hands you a microphone so you can ask your question. “How did your friend get the nickname Mouse?”
Tom’s eyebrows furrow slightly, and his nose wrinkle, indicating he is contemplating something. Did he recognize your voice?
“She was always so quiet and reserved, just like a mouse,” Tom responded, shielding his eyes from the light to see if he could get a better look at whoever asked the question. You laugh into the mic before the lights dim, and Tom sees your face. “You call me Mouse because when we were kids, we would always play cat and mouse; however, because you’re older, you always got to be the cat.”
Tom’s lips pull back into his signature smile before he jumps off the stage and runs up the aisle to you, pulling you into the tightest hug you’ve ever had to date. It felt good to hug him again, given that the last hug you ever got from him was when you graduated from archaeology school several years ago. He finally releases you, adjusting his suit jacket before pulling you into his side.
“I would like you all to meet my childhood best friend, Mouse!”

All the gifs you make of Natalie and Chris, they both smile a lot, especially Natalie. Chris seems like a fun person to be around.
Oh, absolutely. She'd said in interviews after Thor2 how much she loves working with him. I don't remember word-by-word but it was something along the lines of: - feeling safe and comfortable with him (which is huge given she'd said she feels uncomfortable around most men because of how predatory people were with her as a child actor). - that she would work with him in a heartbeat. - he indulges with everyone on set and makes them feel seen. She gets tired of watching him do that all day as it must be draining.
Tumblr media
Even with this movie, she's been all praises about him. She said, "I just keep looking at him, forgetting that I have to act alongside as well."
In the interview where she revealed he didn't eat meat for the kissing scenes, the interviewer was saying 'but no one is perfect', she physically stopped herself from saying 'no, he is' and said 'he's really nice'. I find it baffling that Tessa Thompson - who closely worked with them throughout the movie - was shocked to know this, meaning Chris really didn't tell anyone but Nat. And did it even when she asked him to not do it, given how it'd mess up the rigorous training and eating schedules he was going through.
I also love that she was the only one to politely point out that what his trainers were making him do was perhaps too much and she was concerned about him. I've been saying this for years.
Anyway, I love their friendship and respect for one another. They've been costars for 11 years and hopefully counting. In the award thing Chris got last year, they included videos from 3 people - Nat, Tom Hiddleston, and George Miller; she said the sweetest things there as well.
Would it have killed Marvel to have a photoshoot or interview of them for Thor4 promo given it was a love story of their characters?

OG Tom Hiddleston anon here. As I said way back when I originally sent in my asks, it's been 12 years since I watched that man go through the exact same thing. TWELVE YEARS anon. Idk how old you are and maybe I'm way off but I have a feeling you're early 20s like I was back then. Fandom has always been like this but since the invention of social media especially it has always been exactly like this you're experiencing now. There are still to this day people that are following Tom as closely as everyone here follows Joe. There are new fans, fans that drop in and out and people that never left. Blogs come and go but there is always at least one exactly like this. My fave to chuckle at back in the day was called 'thetownbicycle'. Which was where everyone flocked when he was sighted with his first fuck buddy after his peak fame moment. When everyone got the ick and needed to vent about it. Point is Joseph's fandom is not different, weird, unhealthy or strange compared to any other fandom out there. They are the same. Right now in the Eddie fandom, your fandom, I can guarantee there is a page where people are overanalysing every little snippet we have on S5 to try and work out what the plans are for Eddie. They are remembering the names of costume designers, make up artists, script writers, extra actors, PAs, craft services people, people that interviewed the Duffers one time. Following all these people on Instagram and X and reading their comments on unrelated posts to try and find tidbits on Eddie. The obsession is there for every actor, every character, nearly every piece of media out there. We are all the same. Trust me.
This too shall pass. But there will always be a gossip blog with a bunch of faithful anons in the trenches digging up dirt and we are fine. Thank you.
I LOVE YOU HIDDLESTON NONNY.
It must be nice to see him come out on the other side so happy. It's all we can hope for Joe.

How Do I Love Again?
Part: Seven (Four Years Later)
Who: Tom Hiddleston X Reader
Where: England
Rating: none,
Tumblr media
Y/n was sitting in a small room with a few other people in it. This room included a few desks, a bed, cause why not, a mini kitchen and a tv. This room was created for these people because they thought that if they were going to work they wanted a comfortable, loveable, room, and this is perfect.
“So, how’s your story going?” Jessie, one of your coworkers asked, sliding her chair over to you.
You slightly shrug. “I need a story idea… I think I have one but it’s more of a personal story, ya know.” You explain to Jessie with a small smile. “Like a… based off of a true story type thing?”
“That sounds good, just… I guess be careful depending on whose story you're telling.” She advised and then rolled herself in her chair back over to her desk.
“I think it’s a good idea!” James said, turning around to face you. “Wait… Is it your story though?” He said, squinting through his glasses.
You slowly nod, “Yes… That’s why I’m really having to think about it. It's my story… Do I really want it out in the world?” You frown while taking a sip of your coffee that was still lukewarm.
Your best friend Molly walked over and sat in the chair beside you. “How are you feeling?” She asked.
You took a deep breath and sighed. “I don’t know…” You looked down and fiddled with a pen. “I miss him…” Molly was the only person you told anything to about what had happened with Tom, she knew all the details, and wanted to make sure she was safe, that is how she became your best friend.
“Hey guys check it out” James said, “Tom Hiddleston is on Tv!” he said pointing towards the Tv up on the wall.
You and Molly both looked at each other and then turned your eyes to the Tv.
“So Tom, how has life been treating you these days? Got anything to look forward to? Maybe a special someone?” The interviewer asked him, holding a few cards in his lap.
Tom gave a sad smile, “Well, many things have happened recently, and over time, something I will not talk about, but I’ve been working on Season 2 of Loki… For those of you who know Marvel.”
Y/n lets a small grin form on your face as you listen to Tom speak on the Tv. oh how you missed his voice, you missed him. He looked good.
Tom took a deep breath. “And yea… There is a special someone in my life… and I have yet to find her, she is the most amazing human being I have ever met, she is so kind and funny, and I just. I miss her like crazy,”
The interviewer slightly raised his eyes. “Is this someone you’ve actually met?”
“Of course!” Tom said, fiddling with his hands, “She’s so beautiful, but something happened, and she had to go away, and I have yet to find her, I don’t even know if she remembers me or knows that I’m still here waiting, looking, wishing…” Tom explained as his smile fades, “And if she’s watching this, I want you to know that I still do love you, and I’m still looking for you, and I’m not going to give up.” He said.
Y/n looked at Molly, trying so hard to hold back the tears that wanted to escape.
“Alright gang, I think it’s time to go home.” Molly says, standing up and giving You a small hug. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” She said and walked out the door.
You collected your things and sighed, rubbing your eyes. You walked out of the building and headed home.

Anthony's Stupid Daily Blog (720): Thu 8th Mar 2024
I thought about how I always try to combine two or more ideas whenever I get a tattoo in order to get more original and unique imagery and I have decided apply this logic to a new business enterprise as I set up my own mobile museum. Instead of getting people to come to my museum I will take it to them as I will be driving the bus Rosa Parks would be arrested on and inside rather than spreading out all of the exhibits I will have them collected into one piece. It will be The Elephant Man’s skeleton wearing Jackie Kennedy’s blood stained dress, holding one of the violins the musicians on the Titanic was playing, in the other hand he'll be carrying the headless bat that Ozzy Osbourne bit the head off and on his feet will be the ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. Tell me you wouldn't pay money to hop on the mobile museum to check it out if it drove into your town. After four very long years I have finally finished my gruelling but also incredibly pleasurable challenge to read every book to win the Edgar Award for Best Novel. I don’t know how I found out about these awards (though I suspect it was just through randomly trawling through Wikipedia) or why I decided to read every winning book but when I sat down to read the first winner “Beat Not The Bones” by Charlotte Jay I couldn’t imagine I wouldn’t finish the challenge until four years later. After nearly half a decade of this on again off again mission, at approximately 16:00 today I finished the final book in the challenge, Notes on an Execution. The final pages of the book depict the last moments of a murderer on death row as he sees the world slip away much like I was watching the final moments of my beautiful four year long task disintegrate before my eyes like a swan in a barrel of acid. I immediately took out my bucket list and struck a line through “Edgar Awards” and breathed a huge sigh of relief before stepping outside to do several interviews with the big news networks and watching all the video messages of congratulations from celebrities such as Lee Ryan from Blue, Justin Lee Collins and The Pope. I’m so glad that this thing is over but at the same time I’m thankful that I’ve been introduced to a lot of amazing writers whose work I never would have gotten to sample if it weren’t for this insane challenge. Starting tomorrow I will begin my new insane challenge of attempting to read every book by the great Philip K Dick.
I watched an episode of The One Show that covered a book award ceremony for children who had written stories made up of 500 words or less. I don't know why but I hate seeing children display talent at an incredibly young age. It's probably because when I was a child I submitted a story for this competition about a nymphomaniac bank manager who constantly takes customers into the bank's giant vault to bang them which I titled "Safe Sex" and not only did it not win but I was forced to undergo counseling and electroshock treatment. One of the winners was this eleven year old kid and he was a right smug little cunt. When the host asked him if he could believe he won he replied in a deadpan fashion “Well yeah because you just said it” and when Alex Jones asked if he would continue writing he said “Well I’m currently writing three stories”. This self-congratulatory bitch is going to end up being the Prime Minister one day isn't he? In twenty years time when I get my well earned OBE for all the great sitcoms I write it's going to be this smarmy gobshite who ruins my day by giving me my medal and commenting "I've never seen your stuff personally but I'm told it's very funny".Tom Hiddleston presented an award but he didn’t do his Robert De Niro impression. I actually want to write a Philip K Dick-style book where Hiddleston runs for president and his only act is to make it punishable by death to watch, share or discuss his De Niro impression ever happened.

Hi I was wondering if I could request one where reader is teen cast member and she’s really close with Scarlett and Tom Hiddleston. Maybe the interviewer was being inappropriate with her so Scarlett and Tom defend her? I hope that’s ok, if you can’t write it it’s fine! Thank you x

Being one of the youngest from the Avengers cast was always an experience.
All those interviews and premiers were new to you and you were glad that you always had one of your co-stars with you.
The closest you are with was Tom and Scarlett, both were always there for you and you'd always have their back.
Today you three, to your wish and best puppy eyes towards Kevin Feige, were doing an interview together for Avengers Infinity War.
Everything was going smoothly, all the interviewers were kind and funny until that one guy sat down in front of you three.
Most questions are about you and he was having eye contact with you most of the time, making you already uncomfortable and squirming in your seat.
"So, Y/n, we can see in the trailer that you are wearing a similar suit to Scarlett's, and is it actually that tight like we see?" he asked and you coughed before answering kindly.
"Um...Yes, I mean it's tight, but that's not the point of it. The reason for my character to wear a similar suit as Natasha in the movies is to show their strong bond and how Natasha is like a mother figure to Y/C/N"
Scarlett smiled at your response, Tom on the other hand was more eying the interviewer because he kept looking you up and down.
"Yeah, but in the recent video you posted on Instagram it is showing how Scarlett is helping you zip it up because it seems impossible to do it alone"
You remember the video, it was all fun and it didn't show you from your front, more from your back. You always smiled remembering it, but now, how he asked that made you rethink that.
"Uhh-" you were cut off by Tom which you are more than happy about.
"I'm sorry, but what are you on about? She already said what needed to be said" He said in a voice that made even you gulp.
"I mean-" he started but Scarlett beat him to it, knowing exactly what this guy is on about.
"Oh, no, we get what you mean and I think we should break this up now before something happens that no one here wants," She said more to the people behind the camera and they nod.
The guy stood up and got led away. You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding, placing your hands on your thighs.
"Are you okay, sweetie?" Scarlett asked, taking one of your hands.
"Mhm" you nod and Tom held a cup of water before you.
"Here, drink something, it's good for the nerves" he smiled softly and you smiled back, taking the cup and taking a few sips. You thanked him and he rubbed your arm. "We can stop for today if you'd like and go back to the hotel"
"No, it's okay, we're almost done and I don't want it to get ruined just because of one person," you said and they both smiled at you.
"All right, then let's get over with it. We still have to watch that movie Holland recommend us yesterday" Scarlett chuckled and held your hand for the rest of the interviews.

Tom Hiddleston: “Lots Of Questions Will Answered” In ‘Loki’ Season 2 [Interview]
Anyone who is convinced they know who will be nominated in the Lead Actor in a Drama Series category should take a deep breath before publicly making their predictions. Not only is it arguably an insanely competitive category in an Emmys season that will produce a mountain of snubs across the board, but there are a number of highly watched, fantastic performances that could surprise. One of those is Tom Hiddleston in Marvel Studios’ “Loki.”
Notably, the most critically acclaimed Marvel series to date on Disney Plus is also the streaming service’s most popular (at least according to third-party tracking services). In fact, it’s almost as popular as another Emmy favorite, “The Mandalorian.” Hiddleston, a previous Emmy acting nominee for “The Night Manager,” delivers the sort of range that the Television Academy’s acting branch likes to reward. It also doesn’t hurt that he has some fantastic co-stars to bounce off of such as Jonathan Majors (as the villainous He Who Remains), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (as a misled time agency officer), Sophia Di Martino (as Sylvia, a female Loki variant out for revenge) and Owen Wilson (as time agency detective Mobius).
Hiddleston’s chemistry with Wilson is certainly one of the aspects of the series that makes it stand out from the other Marvel Studios television productions to date. During an interview with The Playlist last week, Hiddleston recalled Wilson asking him about his decade-plus journey playing the Norse god.
He notes, “One afternoon he said, ‘I think I got it. I’m just so curious. I’ve seen the films and I understand the journey, but Tom, what do you love about playing Loki?’ And I said, ‘I suppose it’s the character’s got so much range.’ And I said, ‘It’s like a piano. He can play the light keys, but he can also play the heavy keys.’ And then in a scene once, in the Time Theater, when Loki is trying to intimidate and threaten Mobius, Owen, just threw back, ‘See I can play the heavy keys too.’ And it was great. And it’s in the show, you know? It’s those moments where that feels really exciting.”
Over the course of our chat, which has been edited and condensed for clarity, Hiddleston discusses what excited him about returning to portray Loki, playing with Majors in a key scene in the final episode, how “this” version of Loki is different from the one who was killed by Thanos and much, much more.
_____
The Playlist: Kevin Feige comes to you and says “We’re doing a “Loki” TV series” or limited series or whatever it was. What was your initial reaction?
Tom Hiddleston: Surprise and delight. What was my initial reaction? I had so many questions because it wasn’t long after I had finished my filming on “Avengers: Infinity War” and Loki’s demise felt conclusive and real. And he also wanted to honor the emotional catharsis of his sacrifice that Loki stands before Thanos and tries to save his brother and he calls himself an Odinson. And so my question was how do we allow his redemption and the poignancy of that moment to stand and create something entirely new? It felt so important to me, to him, to everybody that we had to do something new here. And that to me was the most exciting aspect of the idea was to explore Loki in a different context. Challenge the character, confront the character with his self-destructive and damaging patterns of behavior, and put him in an environment where he wasn’t in control. That by essentially stripping away what was familiar: Thor, Odin, Asgard, all the things that you’d seen before, something new would be revealed. He’s even stripped of his clothes, his status, his magical power. What’s left of Loki? Once you take all the bits of Loki that seem familiar, what’s left of him, what remains? And I thought just as a human element to the story, that’s a great starting point.
In that context, how different is Loki at the end of the sixth episode of the first season than when he was the character that was killed by Thanos? How, how much of a different character did you feel you were playing or did you feel they were at the same sort of emotional developmental sort of space?
Hmm, that’s a great question. They both certainly developed. I think Loki in the series is in a more enlightened place perhaps, or certainly in a more self-aware position because the Loki in the series is aware that his death was meaningless and that he was indirectly connected to his mother’s death and his father’s death. And this idea of glorious purpose, which has been a recurring theme for Loki has been revealed to mean nothing. And so the Loki in a series of someone in who’s been challenged by Mobius, by Sylvie, by the TVA to change. To develop something else. Challenged also by the other variants. The Richard E. Grant variant and the alligator variant. Loki has been playing the same old tune for so long, and the Loki who finishes the series is someone who is radically changed. And I think one of the most exciting scenes to film for me and Sophia and Sophia Di Martino and Jonathan Majors that I know feel the same way was the final argument where Loki doesn’t necessarily agree with He Who Remains, but he does want time to think about what to do because killing He Who Remains seems incredibly dangerous.
And Loki can see that Sylvie is blinded by grievance and anger and a kind of drive that is damaging to herself. And it resonates with him because all through the MCU, Loki’s been driven by grievance and anger and glorious purpose, I suppose. And he’s trying to help Sylvie understand that it may not deliver her what she wants because he’s been there. And that’s why he says, “I’ve been where you are. I felt what you feel.” So, yes, I think he’s in a place of self-awareness, of acceptance. He’s trying to break the record. He’s trying to play another tune. It felt very original, very new, very fresh and I loved the journey.
I wanted to ask about that scene with He Who Remains in particular. When I spoke to Kate Herron, she talked about the fact that because of Jonathan’s busy schedule, you all first went over it on Zoom, and that you did a read through, but when you got to set, he was doing things that you guys weren’t necessarily prepared for. Like unexpectedly jumping on tables and chairs. Can you talk about, as an actor, what that was like in terms of exploring something on set? Sure, it’s a big-budget show, but there is a time limit. Are those the parts of the job that are the most fun?
By far the most fun, the most exciting, and the respect of other actors or the respect of actors for each other, I find incredibly moving. And when people come ready and prepared, that’s when you can dance. And Jonathan was so ready and it was the last week of filming. And so there was this extraordinary sense of finality and momentous. It sort of was a [great] week because Sophia and I had been on this journey together. It was the real journey of making the show. And it was the end of the shoot and it was the finale of the piece. And so she and I knew each other very well, knew each other’s rhythms. And Jonathan, his big speech was literally the last three days of filming. And then the argument and the fight between Loki and Sylvie. And so the magic is when the parameters of the game have been set and agreed on. And then inside those parameters, you can play. And that’s what was so thrilling about working with Sophia and Jonathan in that scene is we all knew the scene inside out, but we didn’t know how [everyone was] going to play the scene. And so it was just very exciting to be in a space where Jonathan and his performance and the two of us could feel very free because that’s where the magic is. The camera’s not interested in something you’ve thought of before, the camera’s interested in vitality and performances, which are alive and spontaneous and unpredictable.
You talk about having that freedom on set, doing things that might get caught by the camera or might not. When you watched the series back was there anything that you remember doing that you were pleasantly surprised made the cut?
Yeah, I mean there were so many. There was such an atmosphere of acceptance and permission on set and that all comes from the top as well. Because everybody came ready, everybody was so prepared and so committed and it gives you freedom because you find people are so on top of the material that it creates an atmosphere of genuinely thrilling, invention. And there was a day I remember it often happened with Owen Wilson where we would be doing a scene and he would do something unexpected. There was a scene where Mobius is very irritated by Loki who is kind of stalling the operation in episode two. And he’s playing a very interesting psychological game with Loki and trying to motivate him in some way to be a bit more responsible. And he referred to Loki as an ice runt or something. And I noticed that the collar on his shirt was undone and his tie was loose. And we felt very playful and it was a great little tennis match and I leaned forward and just straightened his tie. It’s adorable that I’m 10 and steps ahead of you, and then watching Owen’s face as I straightened his tie. It’s those little moments, which I remember and Owen was just so inventive. I remember in the preparation for the show and I don’t want to go on too long, but he was kind of asking me to take him through the journey of playing Loki and the movies and the story and everything. And one afternoon he said, “I think I got it. I’m just so curious. I’ve seen the films and I understand the journey, but Tom, what do you love about playing Loki?” And I said, “I suppose it’s the character’s got so much range.” And I said, “It’s like a piano. He can play the light keys, but he can also play the heavy keys.” And then in a scene once, in the Time Theater, when Loki is trying to intimidate and threaten Mobius, Owen, just threw back, “See I can play the heavy keys too.” And it was great. And it’s in the show, you know? It’s those moments where that feels really exciting.
I also spoke to Michael Waldron and he said that the cliffhanger ending was not the original ending that was intended for the series. Luckily, it’s a great cliffhanger. Did that scene get you more excited about the potential for a second season?
Yes. I mean I thought when I finally got there, I thought, “O.K., there are some unanswered questions here. Yeah. And what happens now?” It made me not want to stop and just keep going, but I’m sure it was good for everybody’s energy levels that we did stop.
This is an admittedly stupid question. I’m assuming you’re excited about going back for the second season?
Absolutely. We’re in it already. I mean, we’re not filming, but we’re in prep, but we start in like six weeks or something. So we’re in full steam ahead in terms of a script and story and it’s really exciting. Yeah, I can’t say too much, but lots of questions to be answered.

Lost in the desert love
Tom Hiddleston x Male Reader
Trigger warning: panic attack, if you don’t like it don’t read it.
Request - Hi there. Can I request Tom hiddelston x male reader where they are travelling and security is escorting them through the airport, but tom is still keeping the reader close to him as he knows the reader has anxiety and hates crowded places, Tom makes sure the reader gets safely out of the crowd of fans surrounding them. If you don't feel comfortable doing it then its cool. Thank you ❤️
Tumblr media
You first met Tom during an audition, for Tom, it was love at first sight. You and Tom would rehearse together and that's when you and Tom started to get closer. The film has to be filmed in England, during your time off you would spend time with Tom. He would show you around England and you would have a good time with him. You started to develop feelings for him but you were terrified to tell him. But you did tell him and he felt the same way, the relationship is a secret.
Tom finished filming a scene and it's time for a break. He went to your trailer and he smiled at you.
“Hey” You smiled.
“Room for one more?” Tom asked.
You are lying on the couch and you make room for him.
“Maybe,” You said.
He smiled at you. Tom lies next to you and you put your arm around him.
“Y/n, you seem off. Is everything okay?” Tom asked.
“Do you think I'm doing okay with my character?” You asked.
“Y/n, you are doing great with your character. You're bringing him to life and when I forget to do something, you improvised. Just keep doing what is right, please don't doubt yourself” Tom said.
Tom kissed your forehead and he gently touches your cheek. You and Tom cuddle for a while and fell asleep together, he still has his arm around you.
---
You have the flu and Tom is making you tea. You watch him make the tea and you live with him. You and Tom agreed to live together while filming the movie.
“I hate being sick” You sneezed.
“You and me both, babe. The tea will make you feel a little better” Tom said.
Tom gives you the tea and he starts to drink his. You and Tom start to talk about childhood memories and much more.
✫ ✬ ✫ ✬
You and Tom have to do a tour press and promote the movie. You don't like doing interviews but you don't have a choice. But Tom knows how to calm you down, which is great because he notices the little things about you.
“Love, are you okay?” Tom asked.
“No. I really didn't want to do the interview but my manager told me I have to since I'm new to acting” You said.
Tom rub your arms and you sighed.
“Hey, it will be okay. You won't be alone to do the interviews, I will be right next to you. When you don't want to answer a question I will take over” Tom said.
“Thanks. You're the best boyfriend” You smiled.
He gave you a peck on the lips.
“I have a cute boyfriend,” Tom said.
You blushed and smiled at him.
---
You and Tom are in Lake City, Utah for The Sundance Film Festival. The airport is crowded because fans want to meet Tom. But he knows your anxiety will be all over the place. When you saw the fans, you start to panic and you start to breathe hard.
“Y/n, breathe. Just stay by me and I won't let go” Tom said.
“I don't know if I can,” You said.
“Don’t pay attention to them. You can do this” Tom said.
You sighed and he gently grabs your hand. Tom puts his arm around you then security leads the way for you and Tom. You start to panic, even more, it's starting to feel that you can't move. The space is getting smaller by the second.
“Tom I can't,” You said.
The fans started to become louder. The lights of their phones bother your eyes, you barely hear Tom’s voice.
“It will be okay. I won't let you go” Tom said.
You and Tom made it to the car, you're still breathing hard.
Tom rubs your back and he encourages you to breathe easy. When Tom first found out about your anxiety, he didn't make you feel bad or said ‘get over it’ or ‘calm down’.
✫ ✬ ✫ ✬
Your manager told you that you have to go to the film festival. You don't want to stand in front of the cameras and you don't know what to do. You and Tom are getting ready and getting dressed.
“Y/n, I know you don't want to stand in front of the paparazzi. I told Jennifer one of the staff to take you to the side door and wait for me” Tom said.
“Wow, that means a lot that you did that,” You said.
He place his hand on your cheek and he kissed you passionately.
“I would do anything for you, y/n. Let's finish getting ready so we can leave” Tom said.
“Yeah” You smiled.
You and Tom finished getting dressed and left the hotel. Tom did the interviews, did a group picture with the staff and Jennifer takes you to the side door. You wait for Tom and she gave you a bottle of water. Ten minutes later, you meet up with Tom and the staff.
After a long night, you and Tom are lying in bed facing each other.
“I got the role and I will have to be in Germany for a few months,” You said.
“That’s great I'm happy for you. I will miss you but we can make it work. I have to be in Georgia in a few weeks” Tom said.
“For now, let's enjoy our time together before it's over” You smiled.
“Yes I agree,” Tom said.
You kiss Tom and he smiles at you.

TOM HIDDLESTON
The actor talks Shakespearean supervillains and mythical sea serpents
"I'M WORRIED I'm going into the red zone on the Pretention-o- Meter here… But why would a human being decide to portray other people for a living? It's a question I ask myself all the time," says Tom Hiddleston, reflecting on his two decades as an actor.
"The one thing I do know," he continues, "is that I identified something when I was younger - that sometimes I'd watch actors and feel like my experience was being articulated on my behalf; it made me feel less alone in the world.
"Genuinely. I remember thinking: 'Wow. How does that person I've never met know how that feels?'
"That's the thing that matters, that we connect with each other and feel less alone in the world… Maybe." He bursts out laughing.
Hiddleston, 41, is relieved to be back home in England, having spent lockdown in Atlanta, where he had been filming Loki. He didn't want to put his cocker spaniel, Bobby, through quarantine while coronavirus was raging ("There was so much uncertainty about every aspect of life, I thought, 'Let's stay where we are.'") and stayed sane by strolling to the park and scanning the BBC for updates. "I reflected a lot. I read a lot. I tried to hold fast to what is good, as they say."
One of the things he held fast to was his relationship with the actor Zawe Ashton, to whom he is now engaged. (The news slipped out when her engagement ring was spotted on the Film Baftas red carpet earlier this year.) The pair got to know one another while co-starring in a production of Harold Pinter's Betrayal, back in 2019.
He also immersed himself in research for his mischievous Marvel villain, who was given his own Disney+ series last year. Loki started life one afternoon in 2008, when Hiddleston jumped into Kenneth Branagh's dressing room at Wyndham's Theatre in London and attacked him with a water cooler. The pair were appearing in Chekhov's play Ivanov, and Branagh had just been announced as director of the new Marvel movie, Thor. Hiddleston thought it would be fun to pretend the water cooler was a battle axe. Branagh decided there and then to cast him as Loki, God of Mischief and brother of Thor.
"This is going to sound really w**ky, but because Kenneth and I are both such lovers of Shakespeare, we made Loki out of Shakespearean characters," Hiddleston told me when I first interviewed him at the beginning of his journey through the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When we talk again on a spring morning in 2022, he is firmly established as a fan favourite following the Shakespearean supervillain's six-part series (another is due to follow). "It's been 12 to 13 years now, which is one of the most surprising things in my whole life," he says.
He has since filmed a sumptuous six-part adaptation of Sarah Perry's bestselling novel The Essex Serpent for Apple TV+. It's set in 1893 in a coastal community in the marshes of east Essex, where a mythical sea serpent is said to have returned.
Recently widowed amateur naturalist Cora Seaborne (Claire Danes) heads to the coast, her head filled with the theories of Charles Darwin, hoping to find a "living fossil". But her presence unnerves the locals - including Hiddleston's character, Will Ransome, the local vicar who is desperately trying to contain the anxieties of his parishioners while undergoing a crisis of faith himself. "It was funny making it during this time because it's about uncertainty," says Hiddleston. "How, if you don't have the answers, the imagination can rush in to fill the void."
The series is an all-round, highclass treat. Creepy, too. And filming it sounds like a literal blast. "We had days on set where we'd be walking along the marshes, keeping an eye on the time so the tide didn't come and wash us away, and the wind would come in across the North Sea… You'd be saying: 'Can someone please turn off the wind?!'
"But it was good for atmosphere," he concludes. Before adding with a mischievous grin - "Anything unpredictable is always good on set."
The Essex Serpent will be available on Apple TV+ from Friday 13 May

Cat's Out of the Bag
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: While doing promotions for nearly twenty-four hours for the new Loki Series, fatigue had made it's way to Tom's lips and slips the little secret he wanted to keep for himself and his new wife. CHARACTERS: Tom Hiddleston x Wife!Reader WARNINGS: Sleep-Deprived Tom. Horrible Pun at the end. Fluff. WORDS: 1,972 A/N; This is inspired by Tom's Interview with Jimmy Kimmel as well as Elizabeth Olsen's Actors on Actors interview, where she nonchalantly let the world know she was already married (so happy for her btw)
MASTERLIST ~
It was One A.M. and this was the last interview he had before he was allowed to go to bed and start the cycle all over again. Promotions had been rough especially remotely, but the setup he had was well made by his keen and sharp eyed wife, You.
One of the many perks of marrying an actress turned director is that you knew the struggle he had to face on a day to day basis. But knowing you, knowing the stress that came with balancing the new movie you were filming while also caring for your five month old, it was taking a toll on you just as much. Tom could see the stress you would conceal with a smile.
Then there was this fact that no one knew about your relationship, at least no one that wasn't part of your inner circle knew about your relationship or your marriage. Everyone knew you were married and just had a baby, something that he was growing so bothered with as time goes by but you assured it was alright for him to keep a secret for as long as he needed. Their marriage didn't need to be a publicity stunt, more so now with the line of work the two of you were in for the next few months to come.
As the screen had notified him that he's be appearing first, he tried to put on the best smile he could muster with the sleep trying to fester in his body more.
"Hi Jimmy. How are you doing?"
"I'm doing well it's good to see you."
For the next few minutes, pleasantries had been made and the acknowledgement of his age was also something that had been thrown into the open. Making a dry joke, it wasn't the best joke for his taste knowing it was a sore subject he doesn't like to talk about most of the time.
From his birthday towards how a quarter of his life had been dedicated to this character, he finally got himself into a good mood as they were now talking about what was important; the show. The premier a few hours ago was also something he really wanted to go full detail on, the amazing premier and the fact that his wife, was there with him all throughout. Watching with a beaming smile on your face even with the mask concealing your identity all throughout the pilot and second episode.
Then props had become the next topic of discussion. Chris Hemsworth had stolen a few hammers in his time filming, but he had been more subtle in his own kleptomania tendencies on set. Everyone had been aware he had stolen a scarf or two used in both the first Thor Movie as well as the Avengers movie. The memory of his wife snagging the helmet he wore in Thor Ragnarok was a memory he cherished knowing how much to loved wearing it as big as it was on your own head.
"I had only taken a few scarves, but my wife has the horns." He said out of the blue and it took him a complete minute to realize what he had said and facepalm himself.
Jimmy Kimmel was more than amused with the revelation, being the first to have him slip something so personal about his life. A part of his life he had hope to keep a secret for a little longer. Now instead of his new show, he can already imagine the headlines being on his personal life and the certain attack that would be thrown at his wife in the process. Just the conversation he was sure to have with Luke after this already had him sporting a headache.
"Can we pretend I never said that and I'll go fetch those props?" He had asked and given the permission.
He made his way to their shared bedroom. You were sleeping soundly but as the sound of his footsteps, you were already awake, taking him in with the beaming smile he had fallen so madly in love with. Giving a slightly more nervous smile he made his way to the closet to pull out the scarf and helmet, but realizing he might accidentally slip again, chose not to take it.
"You okay, Baby?" You had inquired, rubbing the sleep from your eyes turning in your shared bed in nothing but your underwear and his blue shirt, you were just a sight to see in front of him.
"Cat's out of the bag." That was all he needed to say and the nod you had given was all he needed to be assured you weren't mad before excusing himself as he made his way back to his interview with Jimmy Kimmel.
Pushing yourself up on bed, you checked the baby monitor in case the little monster was disturbed for the night. Hearing nothing from the other line, you had slipped on some Loki pyjama shorts as you noticed the helmet your husband had not bothered to take with him.
A smile played on your face, knowing Luke was going to tear Tom another hole, might as well share the burden--it was after all, part of your wedding vows not so long ago. Picking up the helmet, you had made your way to where you husband was having a remote interview, seeing the way he fidgets with the scarf, and the way his knees buckle from where he sat, it was the tell-tale signs of a nervous wreck that was Thomas William Hiddleston.
Sneaking your way towards him without disturbing the interview, you slowly made your way towards him with the helmet in your grasp, a beaming smile was on your lips when it was Jimmy that had first noticed you and before Tom could jerk his head toward you, you had placed the helmet on him and giving him a kiss on the cheeks, it was enough to finally place all the rumours surrounding the two of you to rest.
Only now, you come to realize, the possibility of breaking the internet all because of one simple act. But the smile that had been on your husband's face as you walked away, made it better, whatever may happen. It's been a long time coming and having the world know would be better for the two of them if they wanted to actually enjoy going out doing the most domestic things any normal couples do.
"Is it alright if I congratulate you on the baby?" You had heard Jimmy ask as you headed back to bed. The lively response that now Tom had made was all you needed to hear to assure Tom was back in his element with no more secrets aside from the series' looming on his shoulders.
~
As the interview had ended, Tom had somehow felt nothing but relief. Far from what he had been feeling when the secret slip in his sleep-deprived lips. He no longer needed to hide something as simple as his wife or his child. As soon as the interview had ended, Luke was quick to give him a call and honestly, the mad had expected him to slip it out sooner, but had already had backup plan in case it does happen. With the plan for a shared statement the following morning, he was finally allowed to get to bed and sleep until his next interview the following morning.
Making his way back to the bedroom, the sight of you glue to your phone, scrolling in what he would guess is Twitter, was just a sight to see and he was certain would keep you up for the rest of the night.
"My Love,"
As your eyes gentle turned from the phone, you wore a sheepish smile for being caught snooping around Social Media to test the waters of what the public would think about the sudden revelation. Most reaction had been sweet, happy for Tom for finally having the family he had always wanted to have in his life, then there were other's that either believed this to be a publicity stunt or some bashing you for not being good enough for Tom.
"How did the rest of the interview go?" You inquired, moving the blankets up to give your husband room but instead, Tom decided to crawl his way on top of you, head resting against your chest, arms, wrapped around your waist tightly.
"I'm sorry." He apologized, he could already hear you brush it off, but still, this was not the right way to have their relationship be known. It was not on their own terms.
"I owe Luke's a few quids, just to let you know." You assured with a smile, your free hand brushing against his brown locks. "I thought you would have let it slipped when the baby was born. Look betted on you letting it slip on Live Television somehow."
"Thank you for having so much fate in me, My Love." he grumbled face nestled against your plush chest.
You giggled finally placing your phone on your bedside table before your fingers hand once again found their place in his hair. Fingers massaging his scalp as he continued to grumble how their lives would possibly change now that their relationship was out in the open because of his misstep.
"Thomas." You called hoping to finally stop him from his mini-panic attack.
Finally looking up at you, the bright blue eyes you could drown in stared at you, waiting and anticipating the worse even with the constant assurance you were sure to make towards the man.
"You know I love you, I love our baby, and I would do anything to make this work for the two of us. It's gonna be hard for the next few days, weeks even, but I know I can deal with it. I've dealt with worse if you can remember." You assured him moving your hands away from his hair, and cupping his cheeks in the process. "Am I surprise this happened now? Yes. Do I have a plan on what to do when I get to work tomorrow while filming? I don't but we have a handsomely paid PR team that will handle most of this until it blows up. Am I happy it's finally out in the open even with the circumstance? Yes, we can finally go out to do grocery shopping together for once and neither of need to lie to our co-workers about our relationship anymore."
As you continued to counter all of his worries, the blue eyes remained on you. Staring at you as if you were more than just the post-partum director that has a weird sleeping schedule because of the baby and because of filming. He saw you as something more.
"Why did you settle for some bloke like me?"
You snort moving until Tom had turned to his back and you had now straddled him. Hands resting on his chest, against his beating heart. The sparkle of your engagement and wedding ring against you ring finger brought a overwhelming warmth to your chest.
"I hit the jackpot." You assured leaning towards him, until your lips touched his own. "You're everything I had ever wanted and needed in my life, Thomas William Hiddleston. Don't think of yourself as something less."
As the worries begin to slip out of his features, you decided to break the serious moment with what you also did while scrolling through Twitter.
"And besides, I tweeted a funny pun on Twitter." You pointed out and showed him said tweet.
I guess, Loki's Out of the Bag.
"I sometimes wonder why I married you." He groaned and only made you laugh at his expense and the handful of comments also making the same question as your husband did.
Everything will be alright.

Smitten - Tom Hiddleston x Curvy Reader
Filming sex scenes wasn’t the easiest task. There are weird nude undergarments or socks or tape or sometimes just a nude co-star…With Tom, though? There were nerves and feelings and a deep down hope that he couldn’t tell that you were incredibly turned on as he mimed fucking you twelve ways to Sunday.
“Cut! That’s a wrap on today. Great work guys!” the director called.
Tom collapsed onto your chest, laughing as the tension left his body. “These never get easier.”
“I don’t know” you teased, playing with his hair as everyone left the set so you two could leave the bed with some of your dignity. “It’s a lot easier with you.”
Tom held himself up on his elbows. “Don’t tell me your past romantic co-stars have been less than gentlemanly.”
“Not all of them.” You shrugged. Being a ‘larger than the Hollywood standard’ actress had put you in some…not very flattering roles in the start of your career. Sure, now you were the romantic lead with a conventionally attractive male actor, but lets just say you’ve dealt with a lot to get here.
“Well, I hope you know you deserved better.” Tom kissed the back of one of your hands, rolling off of you.
“Coming from you, I may actually believe it.” You laughed, gathering the sheet around you as you left the bed, grabbed your robe, and started walking towards your trailer.
The two of you filmed the movie…Where you’d usually fall asleep in one of your two trailers watching other movies…
The two of you attended interviews…Where Tom would almost always defer to you and even stuck up for you when a few interviewers were borderline sexist or would comment on your appearance…
The two of you even walked a few red carpets together…Tom’s hand always placed at your middle or  on your hip or in one of your hands...
He invited you out to eat with him before or after any shindig the two of you went to…
He’d walk you to your hotel rooms with kisses left on your cheeks…
He’d even tried to convince you to spend the week before the premiere in London with him…
In your mind, Tom was just too nice. He was nice to everybody. It all seemed very friendly…Until…
You hadn’t been watching the interviews as they’d been posted. Some interviews you did together with Tom and others you’d been split up and put with other actors from the movie.
Your phone pinged…
*best friend* - HAVE YOU SEEN TOM ON FALLON?!?
Before you could reply, your phone started blowing up.
You scrolled through the texts until you saw Tom’s
Tom – Darling, I hope you know how much you mean to me. Regardless of what your answer is, I’d never want to lose your friendship. It’s not every day you get to work with one so incredibly kind and thoughtful and talented and beautiful and…every moment I’ve spent with you has been a privilege. Please put me out of my misery and let me know you’ll at least let me see you again.
“What the fuck?” you asked yourself, opening your laptop and googling “Tom Hiddleston and Jimmy Fallon”
You saw that the Fallon YouTube channel had just posted Tom’s segment of tonight’s episode…
“How are you doing, buddy?” Fallon asked, pulling Tom into a tight hug.
“I’m doing incredibly well at the moment, actually.” Tom answered, sharing that the movie you two had filmed together had done extremely well on its opening weekend just a few days earlier.
“I know! It was amazing. I’ve seen it twice!” Fallon replied, always enthusiastic.
“I’m so glad you liked it. Y/n is incredible, right?” Tom turned to the audience, loving that they cheered when he brought you up.
“Oh my god, you two are so good together. I kind of thought maybe you two were…you know…” Fallon waggled his eyebrows suggestively.
Tom threw his head back laughing, fidgeting with his tie and avoiding looking into the audience.
“Come on, you can’t tell me you two don’t have SOME sort of real chemistry. I saw the movie.” Fallon gave Tom a look like *Don’t lie*
“Well, perhaps we’re just incredible actors and you’re simply complimenting our craft.” Tom shrugged, trying to look anywhere but at Jimmy.
“Well, yes. The acting in the movie is amazing, but I don’t think that accounts for this.” Jimmy turned and pointed to the screen. It was a series of clips pulled from Tom’s interviews where all he did was gush about you.
“I missed being home, but it’s hard for anyone to stay upset when they’re around Y/n. She just lifts the mood in any room she’s in. You could say she makes anywhere feel a bit like home.” Tom had answered when a woman asked him if it was hard being on site away from home for 5 months.
When another interviewer asked Tom what his favorite line in the movie was, he answered, quoting one of your lines. “When she delivered it for the first time, it kind of took my breath away. I felt very unprofessional. I had to apologize and ask to start over. I couldn’t remember what I was supposed to say next. She tends to have that effect on me.” Tom laughed, a slight blush on his cheeks.
The final clip was one of an interviewer simply asking Tom how his day had gone. “I feel all out of sorts, if I’m being honest. Y/n isn’t here today because she woke up not feeling the best and with Covid still being an issue, she didn’t want to risk getting anyone else sick.” Tom answered with a sad smile on his face. When the interviewer shared that they hoped you would be okay and feel better soon, Tom answered with “I’ll make sure to pass on your sentiments when I bring her food later on.”
“COME ON!” Fallon laughed, throwing his arms up.
“I know, I know. I’m not very good at hiding how I feel, I guess.” Tom admitted, leaning back against the couch and laying his arm across the top. The crowd went wild.
“So, you admit it! Are you two together?!” Fallon asked, sitting on the edge of his seat.
“Unfortunately, not.” Tom answered, ducking his head as his cheeks flushed.
“Why?!” Jimmy asked. “You’re clearly smitten!”
“Hey, it’s not my fault!” Tom rebutted, looking to the audience for support. “I’ve tried!”
“Aww, now I feel bad for bringing it up.” Fallon chuckled and looked at the audience as they collectively ‘aww’ed. “How could anyone turn down this?!” He gestured towards Tom as the audience cheered.
“Well, if I’m to be completely honest I guess I haven’t actually TOLD her how I feel.” Tom confessed.
“Wait, what do you mean?” Jimmy paused.
“Well, I thought she’d catch on. I assume she has.” Tom laughed, fidgeting in his seat. “I’m pretty sure everyone else that knows the two of us can tell I’ve fallen completely head over heels for her.”
“Tom, Tom, Tom.” Jimmy shook his head.
“What?” Tom asked, nervous about what the answer would be.
“I’m sorry to have to tell you this, but I think you may just be horrible at flirting.” Fallon said with a straight face, the audience busting up laughing after.
“Do you think?” Tom replied, eyes gone wide in exaggerated surprise.
“I mean, I think you’re just so nice.” Jimmy laughed, trying to stay serious…“that everyone thinks you’re flirting with them…Which means, when you’re trying to flirt it just blends in.”
“Well, how would you suggest I stand out then?” Tom asked, putting his elbow on his knee and leaning his chin on his fist like he was really paying attention.
“I mean…” Fallon slowly pointed towards the camera. “You gotta shoot your shot, right?”
The audience went wild at the suggestion. “Oh, dear.”
“I can scrap this and we can just talk about the movie.” Jimmy offered, making sure Tom knew that none of this had to go on the air.
“I mean, if it’s truly that obvious to everyone what have I got to lose, right?” Tom answered.
“That’s what we like to hear!” Jimmy cheered with the audience.
“Well…Y/n.” Tom paused, a soft smile on his face. “I don’t quite know where to start. I feel as though I may have been remiss by not just telling you how I feel. The consequence of such is that now I’m doing it in front of all of these people *gestures to the audience*…and I’m sure you’re laughing at how red I’ve gone and how flustered I am so I’m going to get to the point. Darling, you’re an incredible woman. I could list a million reasons why, but hopefully later you’ll give me the time to tell you them in person. What I really want to tell you now is that you make me happy. You inspire me. You make me want to be the best version of myself and you even make me believe I can achieve it. I’d be honored if you’d give me a chance.”
Fallon had tears in his eyes and most of the audience did, as well. “I…That was so beautiful. I think we need to go to a commercial break.” He was all choked up and stood to give Tom a hug.
You pulled up Tom’s text, your fingers hovering over the keyboard. “Are you still in New York?” you text him. The two of you were there for interviews. You were even staying in the same hotel.
“I am.” He text back, but the ‘typing’ bubble stayed. “Did you watch it?”
“I did.” You answered. “Come over?”
You saw the ‘typing’ bubble pop up and then disappear a few times. Instead of a text, you heard a knock at your hotel door.
“So?” Tom asked when you opened the door. He looked nervous, a look you didn’t often see from him. He had his glasses on and his hair was an adorable mess. He was even already dressed in his night clothes.
You didn’t answer. Instead, you stepped forward and placed your hands on each side of his face, pulling his lips gently to yours. He quickly reciprocated, his hands finding your hips as he walked you backwards into your hotel room.
“And to think, I could have been doing that for a whole year already.” You teased him, connecting your lips again.
“Don’t worry, my sweet.” Tom answered, pressing kisses across your cheek and down your neck. His lips paused at the shell of your ear and his voice dropped. “It just means we’ve got a lot of catching up to do.”

“Loki” season one is available on Disney+

So there I was casually scrolling, minding my business when I came upon a reaction to something Tom Hiddleston said in a recent interview. Some of y'all already know where this is going yes I am talking about what's being passed around as the "siblings comment" regarding Loki and Sylvie. Now because I know how fandom is, and how antis are, I decided to go ahead and look up the moment myself to see what was actually said and the context. After watching it, I was slightly confused as to some of the reactions I had seen but I was like whatever and planned to continue on with my day because the quote is really not that big a deal.
Plans obviously changed. Two reasons why: the first is that it's been a whole year but some still don't know how to stay in their fucking lane, the second being that I saw some fellow shippers point out that the antis are gonna take this and run with it and use it as fuel to attack us which is true, they're already doing it.
So I'm gonna address this, the first thing I'm gonna get out of the way is that Tom is allowed his opinion and feelings regarding the Loki and Sylvie relationship regardless of wether or not those opinions and feelings are positive towards my ship. I, as a fan, am also allowed my opinions and feelings regarding the Loki and Sylvie relationship regardless of wether or not those opinions and feeling match Tom's. Sorry to dissapoint some of you but this sylki shipper is not crying into her pillow over his comment. I love and respect the man but I do not need his approval or validation of my ships.
That out of the way let's get into his comment which was actually not a negative one. The way I saw this being portrait by some painted it as if he had said that they were siblings and he had had a problem with the romance aspect of things but what he actually said is that what he and Sophia really enjoyed about Loki and Sylvie's relationship was the exploration of their mutual curiosity in each other and what qualities they share and don't, that it was fun for them to create that dynamic. This is when he says that "it's almost like long-lost siblings or something", almost like does not mean that they are or even that he thinks they are he was just looking for a comparision that matches with the explanation he was giving of a relationship where two people who are so alike yet so different meeting for the first time and being infinitely curious about each other thus "almost like" followed by "or something".
We need to bring back the trope of childhood best friends who say they are only platonic/family-like until they drift apart and reconnect years later and end up falling in love cause some are failing to understand how one can go from only platonic feelings to romantic feelings.
Anyways afterwards he proceeds to give some praise to Sophia for her work as Sylvie, and says that Loki and Sylvie's dynamic (as well as the Loki and Mobius one) were central to the whole show. Timestamp for those who want to hear what he said themselves: here. I would highly reccomend it.
I did not just watch that moment though I watched the whole interview as well as another one that I came accross while looking for this one and I'm glad I did because some of the reactions that I saw of this project their hatred and dislike of Kate Herron unto Tom, once again, babying him trying to make it seem like he hated it and it's all her fault, and he had no input in the show and wasn't listened to at any point. Even though in this very interview he mentions that Kate was very helpful to him getting back into the mindset of Avengers!Loki after so many years. x And in a previous interview he said Kate had the most wonderful take on what the series is about saying that when he heard her answer to him asking what she thought it was about he thought "she gets it!" x
In that previous interview he also mentions how the "Loki 101" came to be because he kept being asked by various department heads for his input and opinion so he went to Kate and assembled everyone in a room for a couple hours so he could explain and talk about the character and how he has developed him through all these years. x I would reccomend checking out both interviews they're pretty good and you can tell how much love and thought he puts into Loki and how much work he has put into the series.
Can't wrap this up without mentioning Crimson Peak because some y'all really think this man would be pressed over a romantic relationship between "almost like siblings" when he worked in a movie where his character fucks his own sister.
In conclusion, antis are annoying, and context is always key.
