We as a culture were robbed when Dracula caught on over Carmilla.
#not saying dracula's a bad book#(or even that it's worse than carmilla)#but in terms of vampire lore and tropes and possibilities for expanding characters?#carmilla is where it's at guys holy shit#how have there not been seven million adaptations?#or even a single proper high budget one?#like we seriously as a culture decided to morph dracula into a mysterious sexy count with an obsessive love for the female protagonist#and a tragic backstory#while carmilla was literally right there!#we have a thousand different stories on van helsing and renfield but zero on who the fuck that lady claiming to be carmilla's mom is?#or anything about those people helping her?#such a cool little story that would be soo awesome to see properly adapted#carmilla
