Here’s what to expect when you order:

Send me a PM with basic info; what you would like me to draw, your budget, and if you have a deadline.

I will ask a few questions to be able to build up the concept. I will also give you my e-mail, where you can send me further info and any references you'd like to share!

Your sketch is typically ready within a week; I’ll always update you on my progress. After we agree on the sketch, payment will be due. After it’s paid, I will give you an estimate for when I will be finished with your piece.

About Me

I'm ilrak, a 35 year old Black and Non-Binary digital artist who also happens to be a furry and alterhuman (Ceratosaurus, Raven, and a third thing I’m trying to figure out). You must be of 18 years of age to commission me.

Payment can be made in USD over paypal, ko-fi (for tipping) or by using my Artconomy page and is required upfront.

My turn around time is between 7 and 14 days, but if I think it will be longer than that, I will let you know. I usually make my icons on a 750x750 px canvas, busts on a around 3400 x 2500 px, and ref sheets on 5000 x 2000 px so that detail can be put in before it's resized to whatever size is needed, but I can be flexible with canvas size! Just let me know how big of a piece you are thinking of! If you want something that isn’t listed below, let me know and I will work with you!

I will draw humans, humanoids, d&d species, shape heads, anthros, mermaids, and feral animals. 

I will draw characters that have little-no ref, for an extra charge. 

I will draw gore.

I will NOT draw NSFW/suggestive.

I will NOT draw canon/pre-existing characters that aren’t original. (I will draw OCs from fandoms, however.)

I will send WIPS periodically to get your opinion, and make sure the drawing is going well! I will NOT make any drastic changes after the lineart has been completed, so don’t be afraid to tell me to change something before this time.

Scenes will be priced based on how complex they are, usually following fullbody/bust prices depending on how much of each character is visible. They won’t exceed $50 unless they’re absolutely insane.

REFUNDS: If you would like a refund before the lineart is done, you can get a full refund. If the lineart is already done, I will only refund 50%. please have references, descriptions, photos, info, etc ready when you contact me. if you come to me for a commission and do not send me anything that i can actually work with to begin drawing within the week i will cancel your order and give the slot to somebody else. I really prefer you have all that sorted out before you even try to contact me/reserve a slot at all. to reiterate: send me your refs/info within a week or you forfeit your slot.

speaking of slots, now that i’m working by those: do not try to claim slots in advance if i talk about opening commissions soon, by the next day, etc etc on my blog or anywhere else. slots will not be claimed until i officially open them to everybody.

i take payment after getting a first draft sketch approved. please do not pay me in advance without asking me first and especially not without having refs/etc sent first. i will not finish your commission/send you the final image if i have not yet been paid in full, however i also don’t want you to send me money until i send that sketch so you know you’re getting something for your money. this system works for both of us!

backgrounds are usually just simple flat color, gradient, splash/shape, etc. anything more complex will require extra charge, depending on commission style. generally i don’t do heavily detailed/complex backgrounds; if for some reason you want to try and get that out of me anyway it’s going to cost a lot of extra cash and take a lot of extra communication. ie. a full scene/illustration is probably going to end up costing you at least two to three times the price of the art w/out the background upcharge if not more, depending on what you want/the style/etc.

extra charge for complex designs/outfits, as well as things like armor, lots of jewelry/accessories, etc. i tend to be a bit lax on this but please be prepared just in case!

extra charge for additional characters -- honestly in most cases i just double the price because that’s double the work and i don’t personally enjoy doing bundle discounts or anything sorry. for Very Simple styles/sizes/etc i may lower this but generally if you want another character you’re just gonna pay for a whole other character.

extra charge to draw characters that don’t have references or for custom design work. i like designing things, i don’t mind working off description when i have to, but that all takes a lot more effort/etc than already knowing exactly what the character is meant to look like. it’s encouraged + very helpful for you to provide things like moodboards, pinterest boards, fashion&aesthetic photos, etc + as much description and information as you can give for these sorts of things! if i’m working entirely on text descriptions you’re gonna get charged a lot more than if i at least have photos to help me.

all extra charges are to be determined based on complexity/detail level, amount of characters added, how much is based on description rather than reference material, etc. this is why i don’t have an exact +amount listed on any of the above points; complexities on a little lineless bust aren’t going to cost as much as complexities on a full body painting and so on.

I have a right to decline a commission for any reason, especially if it goes against my terms. I retain all rights to my work, which include but are not limited to the right to use the artwork for self-promotion and upload it to any of my personal galleries or portfolio, unless otherwise agreed upon. I should have your commission done sometime within a week to a month depending on my queue, commission type, and life. Larger commissions may take longer than a month to complete. I cannot guarantee that I will finish your commission on a specified deadline. However, I will try my best to meet any reasonable time frame you have in mind. I do not offer full refunds as I can only refund work that was not done. Bright pictures are recommended for printing as they turn out better than dark images like night scenes. Lastly, I cannot print your commission for you as I don't have the means to do so.

Small postcard watercolour paintings for a flat rate of £55 GBP. Textured cold press or smooth hot press, and semi realistic or stylized. Includes edits to the sketch stage.

I'm just offering these small watercolours this month to keep things simple as its been a while and I don't want to overwhelm myself. I might open for other options like sketch sheets in the next few months and if I can get a bit more consistent and confident with digital paintings I might open for those as well!

No price difference for stylized or semi realistic styles. But if you go for a semi realistic style it might only be a half body painting! If it’s a character like a little garden bird or a mouse I’ll be able to fit them in. But if it has humanoid proportions it’ll just be half body. If its something with longer/bigger proportions it may be even less. Feel free to ask about what I can fit in!

Backgrounds - Depending on how much space is left I'll include some simple background detail and colours to place the character more. Please let me know if you don't want any background colours or details!

Process and Edits

You’ll get a chance to check the rough sketch for the basic pose and proportions. Once that’s approved, I’ll finish the drawing and I can make smaller changes digitally.

You'll get two rounds of changes for the rough sketch and the finished sketch stages, four in total. If more adjustments are needed I will have to start charging extra. Once the final drawing is approved it will be transferred onto the postcard and there can be no more changes to the drawing.

Once its transferred and painted I can’t make changes to the original but I can make small corrections or simple colour adjustments digitally.  

Upon completion I will send you a high resolution file of the painting.

​If you've paid for shipping I'll send the postcard reinforced with sturdy card and kept waterproof with cellophane, and give you your tracking number.  

Will draw:

Any animal/creature, anthro or human character. Android/cyborg's to an extent.

Original and fan characters.

Fan art (results will be better if I'm familiar with the franchise)

Won't Draw:

Although I draw human characters I'm not comfortable with drawing real life people. Its a bit too personal for me and I'll be terrified of accidentally offending someone. So unless its "draw me as an animal" or something similar please don't ask me to draw you or a friend/family member.

Complex machinery, very complicated and detailed armour. (Might be able to do a simplified version)

Extreme gore (blood and small wounds are ok).

Nsfw, most fetishes and anything discriminatory.

I won’t heavily reference/copy another artist's, character, art style or pose.

This is just a heads up! A6 watercolour paper postcard illustrations. Unlike my other painted commissions these will be sketched directly onto the paper, then painted. So no digital adjustments or wip’s for these. For that reason, do not get these if you are expecting something perfect or are particular with your character design. It also might be better to stick with what I can do best, animals, creatures, semi anthro and anthro. These will also be artistic license commissions. I’ll choose a pose that fits the character, medium and size restrictions. Although, you can tell me what kind of mood you would like. So something like, “happy and peaceful,” “angry and forceful,” “excited and energetic,” etc. and I’ll try to work that into the illustration.  

Backgrounds - Please note that the backgrounds won’t be as complex in the harpy postercolour example! But depending on how much space is left I may include some simple background detail and colours to place the character more.
