Okay once again, NOONE ASKED FOR THIS but I just really enjoy assigning random shit to the marauders so I AM ASSIGNING THEM LINUX DISTROS.
This is so niche I am sorry 😂
Sirius
BlackArch
Tumblr media
Lovely OS though it is not easy to handle 😊 He could just be regular Arch Linux but I just liked the additional "Black" and the cybersecurity relation.
James
Ubuntu MATE
Tumblr media
This is really about the name hahaha but also I really think James would be an Ubuntu. Very successful and popular though comparably heavy on the resources 😂
Remus
Debian
Tumblr media
A forgotten child! Often titled outdated and slow, debian Remus is really the backbone of many things! His desktop environment and package-base might not be as fancy as MATE James' but he is doing his job, okay?? He should really be appreciated more 😥
Peter
Ubuntu Server
Tumblr media
I'm sorry this is just about the name hehehhe he just likes to serve, you know 😂 He could also be a Gentoo with how instable and agile he is but I think Gentoo is actually a bit too cool for him idk.
Well that was fun! For me! For everyone else who made it through this post, I'M SORRY hahhah 😅😂

As one of the only like, three of us doom fans that care about lore, and author of The Doom Fic Of All Time(TM) thoughts on the dark ages so far? 'm waiting for the dlc before beating my head against a wall but at least it seems a little more coherent then eternal.
So tbh, I have not been able to finish TDA yet. I got a little less than halfway through, then ran into some computer issues I'm still waiting on a fix for. (Look, I knew running my new gaming pc on Linux MInt would have some issues, and I wouldn't have the knowledge or experience to be able to fix them myself, but I will still take that ANY day over whatever corporate spyware disguised as corporate bloatware Microsoft is trying to push with Windows 11.) So I can't give an accurate rundown of thoughts yet, and I don't want any spoilers yet! But here's what I've got so far.
(spoilers at least for the beginning of TDA under the cut!)
The biggest comment I have so far is: good lord there are already SO many contradictions and retcons. We start with Novik having apparently handed Doomguy off to the maykrs for containment because he was nervous about DG's intentions and didn't trust him to act on his own or something like that. Except... Eternal says Novik was the one who chose to make DG a Night Sentinel, despite various protests against it! So which is it, does Novik trust him or not? And then there's Hebeth, the very second level. In Eternal, Hayden says it was a "lost city" that was "before [Doomguy's] time." But TDA says not only is it not lost, but DG's even been there before! And then there's the whole heart of argent thing. They say it's the last wraith soul or something, but the fact that Valen is still there and everyone still more or less trusts the maykrs says this is still well before Valen's betrayal, so the Night Sentinels should, in fact, still have three sleeping wraiths in their care! I'm vaguely dreading what other possible contradictions await further in the story.
I'm also a little disappointed in the gameplay. Like, it's solid enough, it's just... not what I was hoping for. It's not the intense, fast paced, reflex movement shooter the rest of the games are. I admit I'm not very good at parrying as a mechanic in general, but like... while parrying is fine a little bit, like for marauders n whatnot, I don't feel like it should be a main mechanic of a Doom game. Or, if they really wanted to make it such a central mechanic, they should've made the majority of attacks parryable, rather than just specific ones. It feels very... slow? tedious? when you're just sitting around waiting for an enemy to throw a parryable attack at you. The parry window also feels kinda off to me? It feels like you have to parry way before the actual collision of the attack, and I'm not sure if the accessibility settings can adjust that.
(That said. BIG props for the idea of highly customizable accessibility settings. I admittedly haven't messed with them too much, but I appreciate how dedicated Doom has always seemed to be to having multiple difficulty settings.)
There are a few things about the writing I've enjoyed. Thira is cool, and the shift of her talking about Doomguy to talking directly to him as she realizes he's just trying to save people is good. Also a huge fan of how DG breaks free of the tether- he fails the first time bc rage alone isn't enough (--something also about knowing the mark is Davoth's mark, and he's imagining it the first time he tries to break free- I have thoughts about that, but those can wait til later.) But then, when he realizes people- civilians- might be dying, then nothing can stop him. I admit I was a little worried about the writing potentially ignoring that the core of DG's motivation has and should always be about love and wanting to protect people, but thankfully, it did not disappoint, at least not here.
I'm sure I'll have more thoughts once I can actually finish the game, but that's it for now. I'm down to talk more about it, but one more quick reminder that I don't want any spoilers just yet!

If your eyes glazed over at all that talk of processors and graphics cards, that’s fine: go to a good PC seller like PCSpecialist, Overclockers or Chillblast, give them your budget and let them build a system that fits it. Classic point-and-click adventures, strategy titles and vintage shooters are cheap and easily available online ( Good Old Games has hundreds of them), and don’t require state-of-the-art hardware. Even an old laptop with Windows XP and 512MB of ram will let you play a variety of smaller indie games and older titles. However, you don’t have to spend big on a top-of-the-range mega beast: if you’re happy to turn some of the graphics settings down, £500-600 will get you a decent machine with an Intel i5 processor, AMD R9 280 graphics card and 8GB of memory. It would be best to have a newish Windows install too, although plenty of games support the open source alternative, Linux. Running the latest big budget action games at the absolute peak of their abilities – and ensuring you can do so for two or three more years – will require something in the region of an Intel i7 4790 processor, an Nvidia GTX 980 graphics card and perhaps 16GB of system memory (though 8GB is currently fine for games). If you’re looking for the most advanced gaming experience with the best visuals, you’ll need to buy a PC (you can play games on Apple Macs too, but there are fewer titles available – unless you dual-boot, but we are not going there). Budget models like the Motorola Moto G and older iPhone models are fine for less demanding ‘casual’ titles. If you’re looking for a new handset, the latest iPhone and Android models are the best (Windows is not so well supported by game developers): the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Sony Xperia Z3 and LG G3 are all great options for gaming. The latest Apple, Android and Windows handsets feature powerful processors, large displays and vast app stores crammed with games (you’ll have more choice if your phone is the latest model and your operating system is up to date). If you already have a smartphone or tablet, then great, you’ve got a games machine. Photograph: UPI / Landov / Barcroft Media What you need to play video games Not wasting his life … Avid gamer Snoop Dogg. Basically, if you’re happy to watch TV for three hours a day or continually peruse celebrity gossip websites and social media streams, you cannot – with any degree of self-awareness – call video games a waste of time. Despite popular stereotypes, games are sociable and inclusive, with large, supportive communities and some brilliant events. Games have been shown to improve hand-eye coordination, cognitive flexibility, decision making, even vision. Games are respected enough for Bafta to accept them into its remit, enough for Moma to put a range of titles into its permanent collection, and enough for major art spaces like the Barbican and the Grand Palais museum in Paris to run exhibitions. Yes! The medium has matured hugely over the last five years, and there is a vast range of experiences available, from big blockbusting open-world adventures about marauding gangsters, to teeny, highly personal indie games about coming out.

So for all the potential gamers out there who are thinking about taking up a joypad but don’t know where to start, or which games to try, or what a joypad looks like, here is a quick guide: So what did they think I was going to say? “No, they’re a massive waste of time”? Secondly, a few years ago, people my age were feeling guilty about playing video games, now there are people feeling guilty that they’re not. First, I write about video games for a living that’s my job. It’s an interesting question for two reasons. Recently, several non-techy friends have sidled up to me and asked, in hushed conspiratorial tones: “Keith, should I be playing video games?”

Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty (retitled Dune II: Battle for Arrakis in Europe and Dune: The Battle for Arrakis for the Mega Drive/Genesis port respectively) is a Dune video game developed by Westwood Studios and released by Virgin Interactive in Jan 1, 1992. It is based upon David Lynch's 1984 movie Dune, an adaptation of Frank Herbert's science fiction novel of the same name. Emperor Frederick IV of House Corrino is desperate for the harvesting of the valuable drug melange (also known as 'the spice'), found on only the planet Arrakis, to pay off all of his debt incurred on internecine wars with family members. To achieve this, he now offers the sole governorship of Arrakis to the House (Atreides, Harkonnen, and Ordos) which delivers the most spice for him. War begins as deputations from all three Houses arrive on Arrakis. The player is a military commander from a House of his choice. In the first few missions the objectives are to establish successfully a base on an unoccupied territory of Arrakis, to harvest spice, and to defeat intruders. Later, when the three Houses divide Arrakis among them, the player has to assault and capture enemy territories. When the player dominates Arrakis on the world map, the two other enemy factions ally against their common enemy. The ultimate final showdown is the battle between the player's House against three enemy sides, among them Frederick's forces the Sardaukar (an unplayable elite force whose heavy infantry are particularly powerful). The final cutscene is different for each House, in consonance with their very disparate world views. The player takes the role of the commander of one of the three interplanetary houses, the Atreides, the Harkonnen or the Ordos, with the objective of wresting control of Arrakis from the other two houses. House Ordos is not featured in the Dune novels and is mentioned only in the non-canon Dune Encyclopedia. The basic strategy in the game is to harvest spice from the treacherous sand dunes using a harvester vehicle, convert the spice into credits via a refinery and to build military units with these acquired credits in order to fend off and destroy the enemy. The game map initially starts with a fog of war covering all area which is not covered by the player's units range of view. As the units explore the map, the darkness is removed. Unlike later games such as Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, the fog of war is lifted forever with initial exploration, it does not become dark once more when units leave the area. In addition to enemy incursions, there are other dangers; like the marauding gigantic sandworm, capable of swallowing vehicles and infantry whole but blocked by rocky terrain. The player can only build on rocky terrain, but must build concrete foundations before to avoid deterioration of the structures due to the harsh weather conditions although in general, structures will gradually decay over time regardless of the presence of those concrete slabs due to the aforementioned weather conditions. Spice fields are indicated by orange coloration on the sand, darker orange indicating high concentration. Some spice may be concealed as bumps on the terrain (a 'spice bloom') that become spice fields when they are shot at, or when a unit runs over them (the unit is destroyed in the ensuing 'spice blow'). The player is presented a map of the planet Arrakis before most missions, where he can choose the next territory to play in among two or three. This affects primarily the enemy house fought in the next mission, as all missions except the first two require the complete destruction of the enemy. Nine territories must be fought, irrespective of house, to reach the endgame.

From Press Release:
February 27th, 2019 — Arcen Games announces its real time grand strategy game AI War 2 is expanding with The Spire Rises — with the new DLC now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms!
In addition to some new capturables, turrets, and other ships that are available in any game once this expansion is installed, there are two major new factions.  The Scourge is your greatest foe, the smartest and most dangerous sub-group of the AI.  The Fallen Spire is your greatest ally, providing you with unprecedented firepower.
You can use both factions, either, or neither in your campaigns as you wish. Thanks to lobby customization options, you can even force the Scourge to be your ally against other foes, if you prefer.
The Scourge The Scourge are an optional faction that can be enabled via the lobby, or by activating a beacon in any game.
The Scourge provides a new way for the AI to be more active and attack the player in new ways. For example, they can build a few cloaked ships, then suicide them into your economic command stations behind your defenses.
Give the player some juicy infrastructure targets that can be killed to weaken the enemy. It’s always fun to destroy your enemies’ production facilities.
The scourge’s units can organize themselves into Fireteams, granting them unprecedented flexibility and the ability to coordinate their attacks across the galaxy. Fireteams were developed to power the Scourge, though they have now also been made to work for a number of other factions.
A giant scary ship called the Nemesis can come around if you REALLY get into it with them, but running into Subjugators prior to that is bad enough.
The Scourge are canonically allied to the AI, but you can have player-allied scourge or independently-teamed scourge (Marauders, Nanocaust and Scourge as a team is terrifying).
Lore: The AI felt a need for a subsidiary force to wipe out small annoyances, and not need to bother its main Processors with petty things. The AI took various races they have conquered in the Arcenverse, twisted them by genetic engineering, and fused them into a new and powerful force to crush its foes. The primary races the Scourge use are the Thoraxians, the Peltians, the Neinzul, the Evucks, the Burlusts… and even Spire.
Fallen Spire The Fallen Spire are an optional faction that can be enabled via the lobby, or by activating a beacon in any game.
The core of the gameplay is epic battles to capture the spire relics, and powerful ships and cities you get as a result.
Get some Really Big Weapons that scare the mess out of the AI.
Build entire spire cities of various complexities and styles, which upgrade as you build more cities and more structures.
The AI now has a reason and ability to bring back extra-galactic forces from their mysterious “main war” to fight you and the spire openly.
You have the freedom to push all the way to an alternative victory condition via this faction, or to just build up one or more cities and make use of the extra firepower.
Experience the fallen spire on a gradient scale, doing some of it as you wish, not having to choose “completely fallen spire” or “completely not fallen spire.”
Let us explore a bit more of the spire lore than we have in prior games.
Give players a chance to “smash the galaxy for fun and profit” by going for a mark 7 city, well above the mark 5 level that is needed for the alternative victory condition. At this point you’re just rubbing it in, but it feels so satisfying to be the big one for a change.
Lore: The AI has crushed the Spire empire in their home galaxy. Some Spire units have landed in our galaxy and they can rebuild their empire and take revenge.  The AI has captured a lot of Spire reactors and is experimenting to harness their power in cloaked research laboratories. There are also some hidden spire relics scattered about the galaxy from past battles.
What Else Is There? Without spoiling every last thing (that’s what the wiki is for):
30+ new turrets for you and the AI to use; vastly more than in the base game.
Tackle Drones, Bombards, Viral Shredders, and Tesla Torpedo Frigates
Five new Arks to find and capture in any game!
A variety of new game mechanics used by the new Arks, turrets, and so on.  Any mods can make use of these new mechanics, whether you have the expansion or not.
Four new minor capturables to find throughout the galaxy as you’re chasing larger targets.
Dozens upon dozens of new ships and structures in the scourge and fallen spire factions.
Integration with the base game factions!  Macrophage, Nanocaust, and Marauders can interact with the Spire and build unique new units if they’re also enabled while you play fallen spire.
Additional music!  Not as large an addition as in some past cases, but some really exciting pieces.
Added To The Base Game Concurrent With This Expansion A lot of things for the base game got major upgrades, at no charge to you, as we created this expansion.
“Fireteams” from the scourge were backported into the AI itself, and the scariest other factions, making the AI vastly smarter in general.
Improvements to targeting and other AI efficiency and performance improvements benefit all the factions, expansion or otherwise.
A major upgrade to the lighting and materials used in the game makes everything prettier.  We had to retouch all of the existing ships and structures from the base game to make this happen.
Loads of requested features, such as the ability to load quick starts (or even savegames) into the lobby for further customization before starting a new game.
The Extragalactic War features that the AI brings out against the Fallen Spire are technically part of the base game, so that any other faction or mod can use them in the future if desired.  We didn’t want to gate that off.
How Does This Compare To AI War Classic? AI War 2 grows even larger with this new massive expansion, bringing this plus the base game roughly on par with the amount of content in AI War Classic plus its first four expansions.  But that downplays the fact that we’re really emphasizing quality over quantity, despite the sheer scope of things.
There was never a faction like the Scourge in AI War Classic, because that was one of the many things that the old engine simply couldn’t support — however, the “hybrid hives” that were a fan favorite were the original inspiration for the Scourge.  The “fireteams” concept that is used in the Scourge was such a massive upgrade to the general AI that we backported it to most of the base game factions in AI War 2.  But even so, the Scourge stands alone as your most adaptable and devious enemy, thanks largely to its ship design and distributed economy and upgrade mechanics.
The first AI War did have the Fallen Spire in its third expansion, and that faction is now returning with this expansion, and that was always a fan-favorite item.  We thought that the original Fallen Spire was great, but it was also pretty narrow in the experiences it could provide simply due to the constraints of the original game.  The sequel’s version introduces more ways to capture relics (train robberies!), vastly more interesting and unique AI forces to fight your titans (Extragalactic War units!), and a ton more Spire City buildings for far more unique and interesting construction on your part.
Beyond that, some favorite strikecraft/frigates from the first game are returning with this expansion, but then the turrets and Arks that this expansion adds are all-new and use a variety of new mechanics (deathgrip, where ships do extra damage to ships they tractor, is a favorite).
The first game tended to include a bit of everything in every expansion (ships, maps, AI types, factions, etc), and sometimes that led to some of the elements being kind of watered-down, especially in later expansions.  With this sequel, our approach is a lot more custom-tailored for any expansions we do.  We pack in a ton of value for the price to anything we do, but we also keep things more thematic and focused, and hope to have each expansion feel more unique and rich because of it.
AI War 2 ($19.99) and its expansion The Spire Rises ($7.99) are available now on Steam, GOG, and Humble Store.

Miracle -Terrorblade rampage 9k MMR Terrorblade the Demon Marauder is a melee agility carry hero who is devastating in the later stages of the game. Terrorblade has the highest starting armor in the game, but is squishy due to his low health, meaning he needs strength items to be tanky enough to sustain damage to himself and his illusions. As with all illusion-based heroes, he needs stat-based items in order to make his illusions powerful. He is known for casting Reflection, which creates invulnerable illusions of all nearby enemy Heroes for a few seconds. Conjure Image creates an illusion of Terrorblade that deals considerable damage at max level. Terrorblade can create up to two illusions, which together deal more damage than Terrorblade himself, effectively multiplying Terrorblade's Base Damage (but not his Bonus Damage). Metamorphosis is an unorthodox spell that transforms Terrorblade into a powerful ranged demon capable of wrecking havoc on his enemies with its bonus range and damage, but makes Terrorblade slower. This spell also makes illusions of Terrorblade transform into his demonic form, but they revert back once they wander too far away from Terrorblade. Finally his ultimate, Sunder, is a unique ability that swaps his health with a targeted hero, ally or enemy alike. This makes ganks on him incredibly risky since he can sunder a hero before finishing them off with a few attacks. With his two Illusion-based spells, the 'semi-ultimate' Metamorphosis and his ultimate, Sunder, Terrorblade's skill set makes him a strong foe in the early game and absolutely terrifying at the later stages of the game. Dota 2 is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game developed and published by Valve Corporation. The game is the stand-alone sequel to Defense of the Ancients (DotA), which was a community-created mod for Blizzard Entertainment's Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion pack, The Frozen Throne. Dota 2 is played in matches between two teams of five players, with each team occupying and defending their own separate base on the map. Each of the ten players independently controls a powerful character, known as a "hero", who all have unique abilities and differing styles of play. During a match, the player collects experience points and items for their heroes in order to successfully fight the opposing team's heroes, who are doing the same. A team wins by being the first to destroy a large structure located in the opposing team's base, called the "Ancient", which is guarded by defensive towers. Development of Dota 2 began in 2009 when IceFrog, the pseudonymous lead designer of the original Defense of the Ancients mod, was hired by Valve to create a modernized sequel. Dota 2 was officially released on Steam for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux-based personal computers in July 2013, following a Windows-only public beta phase that began two years prior. Despite some criticism going towards its steep learning curve and complexity, the game was praised for its rewarding gameplay, production quality, and faithfulness to its predecessor. The game initially used the original Source game engine until it was ported to Source 2 in 2015, making it the first game to use it. Since its release, Dota 2 has been one of the most played games on Steam, with over a million concurrent players at its peak. The popularity of the game has led to official merchandise being produced for it, including apparel, accessories, and toys, as well as promotional tie-ins to other games and media. The game also allows for the community to create custom game modes, maps, and hero cosmetics, which are uploaded to the Steam Workshop. Dota 2 has a widespread and active competitive scene, with teams from across the world playing professionally in various leagues and tournaments. Premium Dota 2 tournaments often have prize pools totaling millions of U.S. dollars, the highest of any eSport. The largest of them is known as The International, which is produced annually by Valve and held at the KeyArena in Seattle. Valve also manages an event format known as the Dota Pro Circuit, which are tournaments held during an eight-month period every year that award qualification points based on results for getting directly invited to The International. For most tournaments, media coverage is done by a selection of on-site staff who provide commentary and analysis for the ongoing matches, similar to traditional sporting events. Broadcasts of professional Dota 2 matches are streamed live over the internet, and sometimes simulcast on television networks, with peak viewership numbers in the millions.

AI War 2 latest The Spire Rises expansion is worth playing
Tumblr media
The Spire Rises expansion for the RTS grand strategy game AI War 2 on Linux, Mac and Windows PC. Thanks to Arcen Games who are eager to continue to share good news. Available on Humble Store, GOG and Steam. The real time grand strategy game AI War 2 is expanding with The Spire Rises. Which is also available on Linux, Mac and Windows PC. So if you're bored, now is the time to take on the challenge.
The Spire Rises expansion:
In addition to some new capturables, turrets, and other ships. Which is certainly available in any game once this expansion is installed. There are two major new factions.  The Scourge is your greatest foe. Also the smartest and most dangerous sub-group of the AI. The Fallen Spire is your greatest ally. While providing you with unprecedented firepower. You can use both factions, either, or neither in your campaigns as you wish. Thanks to lobby customization options. You can certainly force the Scourge to be your ally against other foes, if you prefer. Face the challenge on Linux, Mac or Windows PC.
The Scourge
The Scourge are an optional faction in The Spire Rises. Which can also be enabled via the lobby. Or by activating a beacon in any game.
Since The Scourge provides a new way for the AI to be more active and attack the player in new ways. For example, they can build a few cloaking ships. Then suicide them into your economic command stations behind your defenses.
Give the player some juicy infrastructure targets to destroy and weaken the enemy. It's always fun to destroy your enemies’ production facilities.
The scourge's units can organize themselves into Fireteams. While granting them great flexibility and the ability to coordinate their attacks across the galaxy. Fireteams were developed to power the Scourge. Although they are now also working for a number of other factions.
A giant scary ship, the Nemesis can come around if you REALLY get into it with them. But running into Subjugators prior to that is bad enough.
The Scourge are canonically allied to the AI. But you can have player-allied scourge or independently-teamed scourge (Marauders, Nanocaust and Scourge as a team is terrifying).
The Lore
Lore: The AI felt a need for a subsidiary force to wipe out small annoyances. And not need to bother its main Processors with petty things. The AI took various races they have conquered in the Arcenverse. Twisting them by genetic engineering, and fused them into a new and powerful force. So it is able to crush its foes now in The Spire Rises. The primary races the Scourge use are the Thoraxians, the Peltians, the Neinzul, the Evucks, the Burlusts… and even Spire.

Fallen Spire
The Fallen Spire are an optional faction that can be enabled via the lobby. Or by activating a beacon in any game. The core of the gameplay is epic battles to capture the spire relics, and powerful ships and cities you get as a result.
Get some Really Big Weapons that scare the mess out of the AI.
Build entire spire cities of various complexities and styles, which upgrade as you build more cities and more structures.
The AI now has a reason and ability in The Spire Rises. Since they can bring back extra galactic forces from their mysterious "main war". So they can fight you and the spire openly.
Main war:
You have the freedom to push all the way to an alternative victory condition via this faction, or to just build up one or more cities and make use of the extra firepower.
Experience the fallen spire on a gradient scale, doing some of it as you wish, not having to choose "completely fallen spire" or "completely not fallen spire."
Let us explore a bit more of the spire lore than we have in prior games.
Give players a chance to "smash the galaxy for fun and profit" by going for a mark 7 city. Well above the mark 5 level that is part of the alternative victory condition. At this point you're just rubbing it in, but it feels so satisfying to be the big one for a change.
The Spire Rises
Lore: The AI has crushed the Spire empire in their home galaxy. Some Spire units have now in our galaxy and they can rebuild their empire and take revenge. The AI has captured a lot of Spire reactors and is experimenting. Trying to harness their power in cloaking research laboratories. With The Spire Rises, there are also some hidden spire relics spread about the galaxy from past battles.
Macrophage, Nanocaust, and Marauders can interact with the Spire. Building unique new units if they’re also active while you play fallen spire.
Additional music!  Not as large an addition as in some past cases, but some really exciting pieces.
Added To The Base Game Concurrent With This Expansion
A lot of things for the base game got major upgrades. At no charge to AI War 2 owners, as they creat the The Spire Rises expansion.
AI War 2 grows even larger with this new massive expansion, The Spire Rises. Available for Linux, Mac and Windows PC. While bringing this plus the base game roughly on par. Including the amount of content in AI War Classic. Plus its first four expansions. But that downplays the fact that it emphasizing quality over quantity. Despite the sheer scope of things. The Spire Rises is available now for $7.99 USD. Supporting Linux, Mac and Windows PC. With a digital release on Humble Store, GOG and Steam.

GearStorm survival MMO needs your support
Tumblr media
GearStorm sci-fi survival adventure MMO game seeks community demand for Linux beside Windows PC. Thanks to the developer Iron City Games. Now available on Steam Early Access with Positive reviews. GearStorm has an update for their sci-fi sandbox survival game. Since Armored Survival will include an airborne infection model. This also helps to raise awareness of COVID-19 prevention and safety measures. In the universe of GearStorm, Armored Survival Earth has been devastated. Since the virus is known here as the Phage. While taking place on a distant planet in a phage infested. And also post apocalyptic future. Where players wage war amidst the devastation caused by this virus and the baser natures of humanity. Therefore, with this support for COVID-19. What better time to reach out for Linux support in GearStorm.
We have some players that have gotten the game to work on Linux using Wine. Of course a real Linux port, especially for the dedicated server. Would be something we can easily do and support if the community demanded it.
Since there are reports that GearStorm runs using Wine. Checking ProtonDB, there are no reports. But this is also an Unreal Engine 4 MMO and online PvP game. Which does explain how Wine can be used. And for Linux, UE4 is a great engine to help ensure smooth gameplay. But if the support is there from the Linux community. We could certainly see a native port. In GearStorm players harvest resources and craft items. While building their bases and importing colonists. Players will not only have to protect their colonists. Facing off against rampaging beasts marauding bandits and phage monsters. They will now also have to protect them from airborne the spread of infection within the colony.

Eden Falling first person RPG seeks  your help
Tumblr media
Eden Falling is an upcoming post apocalyptic RPG game that needs your support for Linux alongside Windows PC. Thanks to a recent email from developer Razor Edge Games. Which is due to release on Steam Early Access in 2020. Eden Falling is a post apocalyptic RPG. Where you experience a unique take on an old genre. While stepping out from the wastelands of a ruined future Earth. Razor Edge Games announces its first title. The vast third person and also cinematic roleplaying game, Eden Falling. Taking place in the South West territory of what remains of North America. The sprawling map also crosses from Mexico up through Utah. So there are 1,000's of areas to explore. As a result, you will join different Factions in the emerging civilization. Then undertake branching Contracts to strengthen bonds and gain experience. Also similar to the tradition of tabletop gaming. Eden Falling is planning to enter Steam Early Access in 2020. Therefore, I reached out regarding Linux support. Since gameplay seems to have a Metro series vibe to it. Here's what Razor Edge had to say.
We are using the Unity game engine. With a release in Windows planned along with Xbox. A Linux release is possible depending on the public request for it.
Since Unity 3D is being used for Eden Falling development. This is a good sign to a very likely port. But again this also depends on community support. And the developers are rather liberal in their email reply. Which is a good sign, since the release is coming later in 2020. So make sure to share that Tux Love in the Discussion post. Also, be sure to Wishlist on Steam.
Eden Falling In-Engine Cinematic
youtube
Entering Eden Falling, players face a world in ruins. Sixty-two years after Asteroid 410777 strikes the Earth. While the alien spores it carried have wiped out civilization. In the After Fall, what little remains of humanity splits into tribe like groups. All while trying to survive, fighting over and control for what remains. So customize your character’s appearance, stats, skills and equipment. Then begin the journey in this wasteland. A journey that extends far beyond yourselves. With mechanics drawing from tabletop gaming. Character age can evolve over years in-game. Therefore be sure to gain experience and skills. But also note that you lose others abilities, like strength and speed, as they age. But characters' legacies don’t end if they retire or die in Eden Falling. Even building a family or traveling with Companions. This is where players can pass on their skills to continue their story. The expanse of the South West Territory is open for players to explore. All full of over 3,000 areas to explore that are stuffed with remains from the past. Each environment is generated when it is first encountered. But is locked as a unique location for the host and any friends in game. So any changes become a permanent feature of that unique map. This world is full of seven Factions to build relationships with. Each with their own personalities and goals. Player’s cannot remain neutral between these groups. So alliances are a necessary evil to survive in Eden Falling. You will have to contend with Marauders and other dangers. But the weight of opinion can be difficult to manage. Since taking a Contract from one Faction, such as the Texas Star. This is likely to damage the standing with another faction.
Feature promises:
Single and multiplayer CRPG developed in the traditions of tabletop gaming
No class system offers complete freedom to customise characters
Persistent world in Eden Falling. Characters will change and age with time
Perma-death will see characters’ legacies continue with the Companion System
Undo unwanted outcomes by using Destiny Points
Modular Build that allows for an incredible number of areas and modding possibilities
Eden Falling post apocalyptic RPG official website is now live. So you can learn more the world of the After Fall. And since the the games coming to Windows PC. We need that Linux support too. With a release coming to Early Access later in 2020. Also be sure to Wishlist the game on Steam.

All of them are available in the stores of planets controlled by different factions.
New weapon systems can be reliably found in various stores. So be sure to use the new star map filters. Please note: new weapons systems are not available in skirmish mode (including multiplayer) .
As an added bonus, starting a new Career Mode will prompt you with an offer. Therefore expect MechTech Yang to give you a new Heavy Metal ‘Mech. And also some weapons that “fell off the back of a freighter.”
A different batch of items will be available every time you start a new career.
New Free Features and Content
Classic BattleMechs
MARAUDER (75 Tons) - perhaps the most iconic 'Mech in BattleTech. Since it has the ability to hang back and snipe from a distance. Its Lance Command Module decreases the damage taken by it and its allies. but also gives a boost to Called Shots.
WARHAMMER (70 Tons) - known for dealing devastating particle cannon strikes. Literally this Mech exists to destroy other 'Mechs quickly and efficiently. So its Optimized Capacitor Feeds increase the damage of all equipped Energy weapons.
Official Mod Support - With the Heavy Metal release of BATTLETECH. So you can look for official mod support to the game. And also support for the ModTek format. This is what the modding community is currently using.
Mod locations are now external to the game, making them more portable and immune to Steam interference and breakage.
Also new mod management UI added to the main menu to streamline mod use. As usual, use mods at your own risk. In-game modding tools are not included.
New Maps - Two new maps bring even more variety to your Heavy Metal contracts. Jumbled Karst (an iconic rock formation set between two valleys). Also Boulder Field (rolling hills and rocks dot this battle scarred landscape) New contracts - Over 40 new contracts, including new recurring allied and enemy NPCs. Plus new contract variants that mix up the missions you’ve seen in new and unexpected ways. Battle a dangerous solo mercenary. Train a group of overly enthusiastic rookies. While you serve as the personal bodyguard of an arrogant noble.
BATTLETECH: Heavy Metal | Release Trailer (Linux, Mac, Windows PC)
youtube
New Events - Added a slew of new mercenary travel Events to “enhance” your mercenary life. New Star Map Weapon Store Filters - A new filter dropdown to the star map that lets you view planetary industry by type and a tooltip. That tells you what you can find in each star system. Rebalanced Stores & LosTech - The completely overhauled how weapons and equipment appear in the stores. So along with Heavy Metal content. Now finding items is now more straightforward. And also giving LosTech items a boost in power to fit their legendary status. New Mech Viewer - Get a close-up, rotatable view of your ‘Mech and customize its paint pattern directly in the Mech Lab! New Merc Company Crests - Scads of new emblems to choose from for your mercenary company, drawn from notable factions throughout the Inner Sphere. Roleplay your heart out!
New Mech Variants
Locust LCT-1E - The 1E Locust packs only Lasers for its armament, for better overall damage without the risk of ammo explosions. It runs quite a bit hotter than other variants, though, so it works best with hit-and-run attacks.
Spider SDR-5K - The 5K Spider variant keeps the extreme maneuverability of its more common 5V cousin but adds some Machine Gun weaponry for close-in work. It's still got very little armor, so it works best as a scout and spotter.
Additional Tutorial Slides - For new players, an added some tutorial slides to an early story campaign mission to help smooth the on-ramp to BATTLETECH’s many options and tactical readouts. BATTLETECH: Heavy Metal releases on Humble Store, GOG and Steam. Priced at $19.99 USD. Available for Linux, Mac and Windows PC.
