ohh ohhhh pls talk about some of your favourite soundtracks and recs !!

OOHH THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING!! my go-to soundtrack right now is from final fantasy xiv mostly composed by masayoshi token, especially from the shadowbringers expansion!! i dont even play the game and i love the music, so that really shows just how powerful it is. the soundtrack is CRAZY diverse...like there are some gorgeous symphonic-type things, some real mellow piano tracks, some traditional-sounding, some really dramatic big orchestra sounds, and some slapping rock music. but no matter the genre soken does it SO WELL and they’re all incredibly catchy songs. personal favs: limsa lominsa day theme, the twinning, alexander prime theme, lakshmi theme, the qitana ravel theme. one last thing about this soundtrack: the songs that do have them have SUCH well-written english lyrics, which isn’t always the case for japanese video games. just listen to shadowbringer’s ending theme, “tomorrow and tomorrow”-- i cried for like an hour straight despite knowing nothing about the story.

the other soundtrack that i never get tired of it bravely default (by revo) and in fact it’s what got me interested in the game 1st place!! if ffxiv’s ost is diverse then bd’s is incredibly cohesive. they all sound different, yes, but there’s something about them that make you immediately go “yes, i am luxendarc”. theyre all atmospheric, is what i think im trying to say? idk revo is just a genius like that. and also they all slap SO HARD. every single town theme and character themes and battle themes are equally bitching. highlight of my playing experience is actually hearing the music during the final boss fight. if u’ve played u know the part im talking about-- when revo incorporates the character themes in the song!! there are narrative/gameplay reasons why its so powerful and it makes me lose my shit absolutely everytime!!!!!! personal favs: you are my hope, caldisla theme, the sinking country, horizon of light and shadows, serpent eating the horizon.
