A penultimate set from the Book of Places today. Anyone who knows beautiful Liverpool will recognise them. The first is Saint Johns Beacon, the wonderful mushroom cloud shaped tower above the city centre from the angle where the Playhouse is shown underneath, across Williamson Square and through the fountains. This was drawn outside another coffee shop and was the only drawing in the book where I took full advantage of the pano format tall ways instead of long ways. The next is the Albert pub on Lark Lane drawn from across the road. I miss Lark Lane and pubs. The third was a sketch for a larger drawing that was done on board and not in sketchbook. The dome shaped building, very quickly drawn in front of the Anglican Cathedral was my old flat. It can’t be seen from this drawing but it was the end block of a stunning Victorian terrace and the windows at the side used to be my kitchen. I loved that flat and it represented the period in my life when I was happiest and before we lost mum. It was always summer in that flat even when it was snowing. I was sitting drawing this and then went into the larger drawing on paper which I had taped down to a board when a young couple went past and stopped to come and chat to me about it.
