"take a deep breath. take it." his voice is firm, yet sodden with praise.

"i can't. no, please, i can't do another." your head shakes in affirmation, teeth grinding and heart pounding. "i was a good girl. just like you said. didn't whine."

"i know, you didn't, baby. i know." he can't refrain the soft laughter that spills out when he leans forward, kissing at your temple while you squeeze at his forearm, keeping him tethered and close. "but i know you can do one more."

you nose at the muscle there, free sobs escaping your throat as you shake your head stubbornly. "i can't."

"you can, baby. i've seen you do more than this. let go of my arm now, okay? i'm gonna take good care of you, promise." neteyam smiles warmly at you, brushing some hair away from your cheek, of which is sticky with sweat. "one more. that's it, okay?"
