One week has passed since the passing of Eddie Van Halen. I was able to locate the concert ticket and promotional clipping for the 2/28/1992 show in Charlotte. Here’s my write up from yesterday’s Facebook post: A fond memory of my last days of being a teenager growing up in the Carolinas. My first Rock concert was on February 28th, 1992, in Charlotte, NC. About a week before this concert, I enlisted in the Navy on the Delayed Entry Program with a ship out date of October 1992. I remember buying these tickets around my 19th birthday in January at a music store near the Haywood Mall in Greenville. The concert was epic for several reasons. I had the VHS tape, "Live Without a Net," which I had worn out by the time this concert came around. Seeing the band live was a mind-blowing experience in my 19-year-old mind. The opening song was "Poundcake," and the entire "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" album was played. All of the songs that I wanted to hear from the Van Hagar catalog to that point were played, and those gems from the Roth era were performed as well. The memory of this concert gave me a new perspective of the band as I was amazed at how well they sounded live.
