JK and JM decision to enlist together.

​​⁠JK and JM felt it was in their best interest to serve together. This speaks to the bond they have, whatever their relationship is or is not. They both knew that tattoos could limit life choices for them, yet they still chose to ink themselves. During the live, it was Jimin who spoke about wanting to join the Special Forces. JK seemed to mumble something too. The unit they were speaking of is the ROK Special Forces unit that reports directly to the President similar to the US Army Green Berets or Navy Seals. Both JM and JK have the physical abilities, martial arts skills, MMA skills, etc to do this level of training. Tattoos ARE ALLOWED in this unit. The issue is it requires a 4 year commitment and serving potentially around the world. This unit is for a career soldier. The Unit V is enlisting with is Special Operations/Military Police. This unit only requires an 18 month commitment and yes, does not allow visible tattoos. Remember all members have tattoos.

Jimin and JK had to apply months ago for this companion program. It was a three stage process that took several months for approval. They most likely knew for years they were going to enlist together. Jungkook got his first tattoo in Sept 2019. All members had planned to enlist in the military in 2020, before COVID killed those plans. JK had to know when he got his very visible tattoo what the limitations were regarding the military, yet he chose to move forward. Even back then, he could not serve for 4 years. He and JM had most likely decided back then they were going to do the companion program. In 2019/2020, they were perceived to be much closer back during that time, than they are in 2022/2023. Yet, we now know how close they really were/are this year, in spite of limited public outings.

They both had the opportunity to apply to a multitude of units that would accept their tattoos, individually. However, they were limited in the units that accept the companion program. This should tell the naysayers that Jimin and Jungkook have a tight bond. They gave up other units that would have been a lot more comfortable and safer (locating land mines) if they had enlisted separately. We may never know the true reason for the joint enlistment, but obviously they are close friends who love and depend on each other. This has nothing to do with shipping, but simply the bond between them. They are looking out for each other verses meeting individual goals or challenges.

it’s not surprising that yoongi enlists in public service given his shoulder, and the time was gladly reduced to 21 months instead of 2 years. it’s an enormously long time he’ll be gone still, it’s as frustrating as ever. june 2025, this is cruel y’all... here we go again, when will it end

Taehyung and Jungkook on Tae's enlistment day, that bangtan bomb video. It's going around x again and it's opening up my wounds again. Not in the sense of missing them as a bts fan, I'm ok now, I got through it and Jin is coming back really soon now. But in the sense of my heart hurting because of the brave faces they put on for eachother with eyes clearly full of pain. It kinda looks like reality sinked in. They were both so busy making content for us till almost the last day and suddenly they are saying goodbye to eachother, the life they share togeher, their family, friends. It's still so painful to watch. And that live Kookie did later on 💔 the way he pulled Tae to his chest, that last hug goodbye, the way Tae looked back while walking away. I'm still convinced Kookie didn't wear his face mask so that Tae could clearly see his face one last time, his big eyes, full of hurt but still so beautiful, still so loving.

Hi anon!

Whenever I see footage of that Bangtan Bomb or of the live they did with Jm and Namjoon, or anything to do with enlistment my heart hurts so bad. I hate enlistment so very much (not just for Tae and Jk, just in general). I see so much hurt in their eyes...

For me the moment during the enlistment ceremony when Tae turned around and immediately searched for Jk and he then went to him.. it's just... too much almost.

Like many, I've settled into this new situation without them around... and though it still sucks... it's just the way things are right now. But every once in a while, it's still something that hits me hard. The unfairness of people being forced to pause their lives and all that contains... I hate it.

I hope Tae and Jk are doing well and that they found a way that works for them by now.

On a BTS level, I can't wait till Jin's return. I have missed that man so much 😭.

Does the Maknae Line Fan the Ship Wars?

First and foremost I believe that Jimin and Jungkook are partners. I support their relationship and believe they got together in 2015 and committed in 2017.

But, I do question the shipping aspect of the maknae line and how all three maknaes seem to play into it.

What i really hate is how Jimin is the one to get dragged the most because of shipping. He is obviously close to JK regardless of the type of relationship they have (boyfriends or best friends) and friends with Tae.

I think JK and JM have been loud over the years but toned it down in 2022/2023 for one or more reasons, but one main reason being they knew they were going to enlist together and had to make people/government see them as friends/colleagues and not boyfriends.

Although we had some great jikook moments last year, there were also taekook moments. Were any of these moments intentional by any of the three or all three members for specific reasons?

What do you all think of these?

As stated above I think a major reason that JK participated in shipping moments with JM and Tae was to try and dispel the belief he and JM were romantically involved due to their upcoming enlistment. By all three playing the shipping games, there is plausible deniability of an intimate relationship with any one of the members.

The shipping moments seemed to get heavy around promotions, concerts or release of content. Goes back to the k-pop business model of supporting shipping because it makes money.

Although, Jk was loud about Jimin. He also had his moments with Tae. Jimin also had his moments with JK, Tae and Suga.

Then we have the events of this week with JK following a fan site that reposted a lot of Jikook content along with Taekook and BTS members. It seemed to be in response to the craziness after he liked both Tae and Jimin content on his TikTok page. Of course he unfollows and that creates another uproar of hate against Jimin.

Interesting enough, JK searches and views multiple shipping accounts under the names of Jikook, Minkook, vkook. There may be more, i got tired of searching…..lol

I honestly think the guys could care less about the fan hate. Their participation in fanservice/shipping/skinship is part of their marketing strategy. It also protects their real, personal relationships. The fan behavior and reaction is on the fan, not on the members. They have been trained to deal with fan behavior/reaction since 2011/2012. Yet, when one of the members crosses a boundary, JK seems to step up and address it in lives or songs.

In spite of them participating in the shipping games, JK and JM continue to show who they are to each other regardless of what the fans do or say. They proved this when they boldly went to Japan together, even when they were being threatened with death and antis reporting an alleged gay relationship to the military.

The ultimate show of their bond was the announcement of them enlisting as companions in the military. Spending 18 months together: training, working, living, sleeping, vacationing.
