ok so thinking about Odette's house which use to be Odile's house...

When I first got it a few years ago I instantly named it "l'appel du vide." The call of the void. It has always been named this because it came named that way. Long before I had made Odile and even longer before I gave her an overhaul. And since I've recently been thinking of Odile as A Hungering Void... of course she'd name the house she gives her last 'living' relative the call of the void. It's her, she's the one calling from the void. Just jump in don't second guess the feeling she's waiting for you down there. What could go wrong?

I'm still working out Odile's exact goals and her relationship with Odette. So far it is very "Step into my parlor" said the spider to the fly. But I am still turning they "Why" of it all around in the rock tumbler. I think Odile is torn between her own long ago buried loneliness, lost under the tangle of 400+ years of living past her life ending and the tattered remnants of her own morals.

Does she want to be understood by her relative? It's just the two of them, both dead and incapable of mothering children. The bloodline is going to end here. And if so, how disappointed will she be when she realizes there will be no understanding between them. Does she simply want to help Odette grow more powerful, stronger, competent? If so why, it is certainly not out of the goodness of her heart! Does she have plans for the nun? Or does she want a more substantial meal when she devours her? Back to the house: Odette was allowed to fully make it her own but she was forbidden from changing the name. She's removed all the old furniture and replaced it with her own. The garden, once dead, now flourishes between her cool touch. And yet when she is there... something tickles at the back of her neck. Not the feeling of being watched but instead the feeling of being beckoned, ushered, pushed towards something she can't name. She never stays for long.
