Quick question to literally anyone more knowledgeable than me: Chef Zhu specifies that though his past life was a yaoguai, he is not, and calls himself a person instead.
I noticed this in the Spider Queen special as well where Chef Zhu says "He's literally a demon!" in reference to Red Son. Xiaotian also calls Red Son a demon a bit after that. Which all seemed hypocritical to me at the moment, but this separation comes up multiple times in season 4.
So is Chef Zhu not a yaoguai? He's not eating people or causing general havoc, but still. Is this something specific to the show or are there like actual characteristics that he portrays that would separate him in that regard?
Would this mean that since Red Son stopped being a villain then he stops being a yaoguai as well?
