author speaks: requested! my first ever imagine!! hope you like it!

it was the sixth time this week. the sixth time that a rose was left at your desk. you didn’t know why - actually, you had no clue why. but every day this week, a single rose was laying on the surface all alone.

there was no note, no other clues. which made you confused, who was leaving flowers on your desk? and why were they leaving flowers on your desk? it didn’t make any sense.

you weren’t talking to anyone romantically. and you sure as hell weren’t dating anyone. you were single. so who was sneaking into the trainer's office and leaving beautiful flowers?

you were the angels athletic trainer. you kept to yourself. sure you made some friends with the angels players. but other than that - you did your job and that was it.

so you were confused, now more than ever. six roses now. they were left in the same place, the same time. whoever was leaving them knew your schedule.

maybe it was one of the players, or staff. but who? it bothered you to no end. you needed to know who left flowers on your desk when you weren’t there.

“another rose?” a familiar voice spoke behind you. grabbing your attention. you immediately recognized the voice - it was mike trout.

“yeah,” you replied picking up the rose and placing it in the glass vase where the rest were.

the outfielder hummed before walking closer to where you stood. his beautiful eyes landing on the vase of roses.

“who do we think it is?”

you shrugged “i have no clue. it’s the sixth time this week.”

you and mike were best friends. he was like an older brother to you. he was always there when you needed it most. mike was such a kind person. you trusted him a lot.

“will you help me figure out who it is?” you asked sweetly with a soft smile plastered on your lips.

mike nodded “of course.”

“now a question, when do you notice these flowers on your desk?”

you thought about it for a second. it was always when you were on your lunch break. when you weren’t there. and if the angels had a day game? they were there even before you arrived for work.

“my lunch breaks around one for night games. and if it’s a day game, the roses were left in the mornings. around eight.”

“so here’s the plan. “ mike started crossing his arms to think about what to say next. you stared at him with hope in your eyes.

“you stay here during lunch. with the lights off and you hide under your desk or something. wait for the mysterious person and then you’ll know.”

“sounds good.”

the next day arrived. and you couldn’t wait for lunch time. to find out who it was that was leaving those on the desk. it felt like forever but finally, the time came around.

you followed mike’s advice. shutting the lights off and hiding under your desk. there was enough room that you could fit under, thankfully.

minutes passed as you waited, and waited. your hope was slowly running out as the time on the clock ticked by.

until the sound of footsteps made your ears perk up. they were getting closer and closer to your door. until the sound of the knob twisting and the door opening made you all excited inside.

the light was switched on. you jumped out from under the desk. shocked to see who the person was.

“logan?” you asked your eyes meeting the boy.

“h-hi”

“so it was you? the one who left the roses?”

logan nodded running his fingers through his hair. trying to find the right words to say. but the catcher became nervous. nervous at the sight of the beautiful girl in front of him.

logan had always felt something for you. he found you breathtakingly beautiful. ever since he laid eyes on you. they say love at first sight wasn’t real, but logan disagreed.

that’s why he left roses on your desk. eventually, he would’ve said something. when? logan had no clue. but eventually, he would’ve confessed his feelings for you.

“yeah. i can explain. i hope it’s not creepy or anything. i-“

you quickly cut him off, finding his nervous ranting cute.

“it’s not creepy. i loved it actually,” you admit

logan lifted his head and met your e/c. his lips turned into a smile at your words. it wasn’t creepy? that was good.

“but why? why did you leave the roses on my desk?”

“because i was nervous.” he admitted “i like you… a lot and i find you really cute. or adorable. and i was nervous to tell you.”

you were shocked by his words. logan liked you? you never saw that coming. but you actually felt the same way. who wouldn’t feel the same way for logan?

logan became nervous again. you weren’t speaking, just staring. which scared him. what if you didn’t like him back?

but you quickly tried to gather your words. noticing the change in the baseball players' face.

“i like you too,” you said honestly which made logan immediately smile.

“you do?”

you nodded stepping closer to the baseball player. before gently grabbing his face. pulling him into a kiss.

logan kissed back. it felt like the best kiss you probably ever had. it felt magical. you never felt like this before.

the two of you finally pulled away from the kiss. catching your breaths before logan decided to speak up first.

“wow.”

you nodded “y-yeah.”

“so does this mean i can ask you out on a date?”

“yeah, it does.”

Hugh's Bats roster change for 5/28/2024

BIG NEWS. Yesterday I was able to trade away Jarren Duran and Kirby Yates for Teoscar Hernandez. I'm losing steals and saves and replacing it with Teoscar's five category production. Sure he won't steal that many bases but he isn't going to put up a goose egg in that category (he already as 3) and really this is more in line with my new philosophy of "HOME RUNS ARE A ROTO CURE-ALL". Time will tell if I overpaid in the trade but given both Yates and Duran's injury history I'm not too worried about it.

Michael Busch is gone. Strikes out too much.

Gavin Stone is gone. He walks too many batters.

Assad is goneI'm afraid he gives up too much hard contact.

Logan O'Hoppe is gone. I really like his hitting profile but I like the line up context of Jonah Heim more than O'Hoppe's.

Nick Pivetta and Joe Musgrove are back. I'm not sold on Pivetta but I believe in Musgrove's talent level.

May was tough for Hugh's Bats. On the bright side I feel like was able to make some trades that could help the team in both the long and short runs. On the darker side of things...Hugh's Bats are currently sitting at 7th place.

Angels Take Opener From Twins.

The Minnesota Twins have fallen on hard times after scoring two runs in Kansas City over the weekend. The team returned home to host a reeling Angels team tonight at Target Field. The Angels were ready from the jump as Taylor Ward led-off the first with a walk and Zach Neto hit a ground-rule double to left-center. Nolan Schanuel singled home a pair to put the Halos up by a pair before the Twins grabbed a bat. The Angels kept adding on in the third when Nolan Schanuel walked and Brandon Drury smoked a David Festa fastball out to left for a two-run homer. This doubled the Anaheim lead to four and Minnesota would find some offense in the bottom of the third. Mike Helman led-off with a double to right and Carlos Santana singled him home. The Twins kept inching closer in the fourth when Kyle Farmer belted a Reid Detmers curveball out to left for a solo homer. Minnesota was within two after four innings of play. The Angels bounced back in teh sixth as Logan O'Hoppe lined a two-out single to right and Niko Kavadas blasted a Ronny Henriquez slider out to right for a two-run home run. Anaheim regained their four-run lead and Reid Detmers finished off six solid innings. Jose Suarez threw three shutout innings for the save and the Angels took the series opener.

-Final Thoughts- David Festa got knocked around a bit. He lasted four innings and gave up four runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Ronny Henriquez gave up two runs over two innings, Michael Tonkin struck out two over two innings of work, and Scott Blewett had a scoreless ninth. The Twins scattered five hits and went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position. They left five men on base. Tomorrow, Griffin Canning faces Pablo Lopez in Game 2. The lead for the final Wild-Card spot is down to three games.
