Hugh’s Bats roster update for 6/5/2024

First off Jo Adell is gone.

Check out that rolling xwOBA! His production has fallen off a cliff.

Also Jonah Heim is gone and Logan O’Hoppe is back. O’Hoppe is on a worse team but has slightly better plate discipline. Hugh’s Bats are currently in last place for OBP. So Heim had to go. All of this is just temporary because I picked up Francisco Alvarez (dropped a hurt Joe Musgrove again) and once he is back from his thumb injury I’m hoping he will be the last catcher I need for the 2024 season.

I picked up Reese Olsen. Not much to say about that except he had his worse start of the season as soon as I started him. I’m not sure how much time the Hugh’s Bats fanbase will have to get attached to Reese Olsen.

Hugh's Bats roster change for 5/28/2024

BIG NEWS. Yesterday I was able to trade away Jarren Duran and Kirby Yates for Teoscar Hernandez. I'm losing steals and saves and replacing it with Teoscar's five category production. Sure he won't steal that many bases but he isn't going to put up a goose egg in that category (he already as 3) and really this is more in line with my new philosophy of "HOME RUNS ARE A ROTO CURE-ALL". Time will tell if I overpaid in the trade but given both Yates and Duran's injury history I'm not too worried about it.

Michael Busch is gone. Strikes out too much.

Gavin Stone is gone. He walks too many batters.

Assad is goneI'm afraid he gives up too much hard contact.

Logan O'Hoppe is gone. I really like his hitting profile but I like the line up context of Jonah Heim more than O'Hoppe's.

Nick Pivetta and Joe Musgrove are back. I'm not sold on Pivetta but I believe in Musgrove's talent level.

May was tough for Hugh's Bats. On the bright side I feel like was able to make some trades that could help the team in both the long and short runs. On the darker side of things...Hugh's Bats are currently sitting at 7th place.

No walks even! Im glad to see him moving in the right direction…I regret the decision to bench him. I guess I’m going to start him versus the Royals.

No way I’m starting Joe Musgrove against the Yankees today. Also maybe I won’t start him against Kansas City this week either. I really don’t like interleague play.

If my league counted expected stats Christopher Morel would be a huge help to my team!

I benched Nola today and he throws a complete game shutout! I should be fired for such a boneheaded move.

Hugh’s Bats exploded for FIVE HOME RUNS Sunday. I’m still in last place in the home runs category but I’m at least making up some ground finally. Hopefully this will be the start of an offensive jolt for Goldschmidt who has been damn near unusable for most of the young season.

Hugh's Bats line up update 5/6/204

First change is prospect James Wood and starting pitcher Justin Steele are gone. I traded them away for Nick Castellanos who is off to a dreadful start. His track record is long enough I have faith he will turn it around...all this in the pursuit of home runs.

Someone dumped Mike Trout in my league, I think they were running out of Injury Reserve spots. Anyway I snagged him.

Joe Musgrove is gone. He has a forearm strain and has been awful all season. In his stead is Javier Assad who currently has an ERA under 2 at the moment. The knock against Assad is he gives up a ton of hard contact and the popular thinking is that hard contact will turn into home runs as the weather warms up. But what if it doesn't? I know that he won't keep the ERA that low all season but I'm going to see where this goes.

Daniel Hudson is gone. He blew two saves in a row and Andrew Kitteredge was on the waiver wire so I swapped them out.

Home runs were down again this week for Hugh's Bats. The sole bright spot was Christopher Morel who had three. I don't think anyone else hit one at all! Brutal.

Hugh’s Bat, Ke’Bryan Hayes hit his first homer of the season last night! America’s favorite Fantasy Baseball team has produced only THREE home runs since Monday. I’m dead last in the category in the league so this little line drive homer means a lot right now .

Hugh's Bats as of 4/23/2024

A few changes.

One Micheal Conforto is gone. He was hitting too many ground balls. He knew it too I think because yesterday (after I dropped him) he got so mad after hitting into an out he threw his bat in frustration. In his place is Starling Marte who Is made of glass and will probably disappoint me at some point but right now I'm hoping he can be a source of home runs AND steals.

Secondly, my beloved Yandy Diaz is gone. He wasn't going too be much help in any category other than OBP and I was in desperate need of saves so I picked up Kirby Yates. Yates rewarded my faith in him with three save this last week alone! Finally a fantasy move that is paying off.

As of today I am tied for last place in the home run category. I'm really hoping that changes soon. Over all ...as of today...Hugh's Bats is in THIRD PLACE (out of ten). So if I could just rack up some home runs I could be in a much better position to win.
