Big Ups to the bro AUSTIN CRUTE, currently crackin the planet tfu in the most critically-acclaimed film currently in theaters, “Booksmart.” We’ve been on the Crute fan-wagon for a lot of years now, dating back to his early years as a high school Musical Theatre standout. His mind-blowing range as an artist and performer is slowly being revealed to the public… and the revelation is taking place in some of the most lauded work of our generation. His credits are only beginning to fill his resume, but they already include multi-award-winners @Atlantafx (as Black Bieber) Orange is the New Black, and now his big screen debut in Booksmart. The upward trajectory is still mad strong as he is currently wrapping production on his starring role in the highly anticipated @Netflix series “Daybreak” - showing even more range as he stretches from Booksmart’s drama queen to Daybreak’s Bullying Football Jock. - But his range isn’t limited to screen appearances. LOIC MABANZA for VOGUE Give this brother a theatrical, professionally-lit setting, a shaken-not-stirred-esque wardrobe, and Action/International Espionage storyline, cue the music, cue the foreshadowing rainy weather and shout “Action!” … and you will see the uniquely-talented Loic Mabanza at the height of his powers! OPENING DOORS OPENING MINDS! Had to squeeze in some hours on the TuTchT drawing board to give Femi Oguns the kind of “galactic impact” artistic treatment his clients get on the regular. hahaha. Slightly tongue-in-cheek but wholly sincere at heart. I love this guy. Mr. Oguns was awarded the prestigious Special Jury Prize from the British Independent Film Awards earlier this week for his creation of London’s Identity School of Acting and Identity Agency Group. I’ve tried to regularly throw shine on Identity and Mr. Oguns’ work since I first came across them 5 or 6 years ago. Mr. Oguns saw an extreme lack of diversity on the British screens, stages, and among the ranks of young actors being admitted into the UK’s prestigious acting schools. So… he started his own. The rest is history. Nights like tonight when his students/clients are simultaneously opening in some of the biggest projects of the year (Star Wars & “Belleville” in London’s West End) show us just how vast this history is becoming! Big ups to LoJoFam Fernell Hogan. The new musical KIMBERLY AKIMBO had its official Off-Broadway opening night last night. Had to put the TuTchT on him in this graphic based of recent production photos. This widely-praised new musical stars Tony winner Victoria Clark, Steven Boyer, & LoJoFav Bonnie Milligan , with Alli Mauzey and four amazing young performers (two in their Off-Broadway debuts.) Fernell is the vet among the young ensemble with a hit Broadway show under this belt (The Prom) and the first national tour of the Tina Fey hit Mean Girls. Olivia Elease Hardy (Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, US Tour) and new-comers Justin Cooley & Michael Iskander round out the small cast. The reviews are rolling in for this off-beat comedy about a teen with an aging disease that makes her look like a 72 year old. Amount the quotes from last night, “The best new musical of 2021” (Time Out New York,) “a momentous work of theatre, exquisitely performed.” (Theaterly) The book and lyrics are by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire and the music by Tony-winner Jeanine Tesori. If you’re not familiar with her name, you are well-aware of her work over the past 2 decades of hits. She is a part of two of the biggest musical works of stage and screen right now… composer of the Broadway hit Caroline, or Change and vocal arranger/producer of Spielberg’s West Side Story, opening this week. BROADWAY IS BACK! WELCOME BACK, HAMILTON! After 515 days, Hamilton has finally hit the stage. LoJoFav (and new pops to a 6 month old baby boy) Donald Webber Jr posted this on IG a few days ago. We added a lil underscore in honor of the reopening and befitting the eternal words of ever-real Mr Webber. Donald Webber is one of the handful of performers who have won reviews as both Hamilton & Burr on Broadway. His very first night in the title role was the viral night Mike Pence attended the show. He also had the distinction of performing Burr to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton in the celebrated Puerto Rico run. I believe he and his equally talented wife Rebecca Covington Webber (whom he met via the musical Motown)are the only husband wife team to share the stage as Hamilton cast members.
