It just reminded me of the Han brothers, and how HYH sees himself as a monster, the first image could relate to him pre-awakening, forced to rein in those S-Class instincts he was born with

The second could depict pre-regression HYH, both as the wolf and the hands, putting on a muzzle, akin to him depriving himself of what he wanted the most (HYJ) so as not to cause harm (to them)

And the third is a bad end hyh, in which he was not able to help himself, and selfishly devoured the lamb. The lamb, who in this case is HYJ, looks caged, weary and resigned..

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? hmmm. i really rarely don't write a happy ending but maybe breathe fresh air ever after aka the one where daniel pierce watches "the interview." the truman show AU and the one where it's all a dream also are both kind of bleak

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? all the long ones with a bj goes to maine element i think are kind of equally happy so maple syrup, hyh, but also you deserve the best, the hawkmarg friendship inspired fic that was the first mash fic idea i ever had

Do you get hate on fics? not to my face tho i sometimes wonder if mutuals in law have me blocked bc of any perceived bad takes in my writing

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? not habitually, but ive written some in my opinion narratively relevant sex scenes lol

Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? closest i've come is incorporating elements of the catch-22 universe into mash stuff, and i have a broader outline for a real mash-22 crossover that i'd like to actually write one day

Have you ever had a fic stolen? ok funny yeah i was just telling della about this but like. not word for word like copy pasted but i was reading a hawkeye margaret friendship fic a while ago and was really enjoying it and then realized it was beat for beat copying my hawkmarg bestfriends fic 😭 right down to including references to the communist manifesto

Have you ever had a fic translated? i don't believe so but that would be cool!

Have you ever co-written a fic before? not really, i've thrown ideas around with people especially like with noirhawk stuff but it never really coalesced

What’s your all time favorite ship? i don't knowwwww. when i was a teenager the doctor/rose was literally so important to me and honestly i was surprised at how much i cried at doomsday upon rewatch. i possibly care more about the hawkeye/margaret friendship dynamic than i do about beejhawk

What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? ooh my idea for a mash tv show/movie crossover which i have some good dialogue written for and would love to be able to bring to fruition but i just dont think it's gonna happen

What are your writing strengths? i think dialogue for sure, and when it comes to fic in particular (like as opposed to my original writing) i think i'm good at character studies/keeping things very realistic and in character

What are your writing weaknesses? bc when i write as a hobby i write mostly plays, i sometimes catch myself writing prose like that, like just dialogue and what amounts to stage directions. i have to make myself think about when some internal monologue might be good, how to make things actually sound good instead of just being practical

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? you guys know i love to throw lots of yiddish in there. i wouldn't be able to write real dialogue in another language unless the character had an eighth grade level spanish education or was trying to say "the farmer is my friend" in latin

Favorite fic you’ve written? ough hard to choose. i have to shout out mind field bc i somehow haven't mentioned it yet and the experience of writing it was so surreal and was just genuinely me trying to convey how it had felt to be in my brain for a year or so through projecting onto hawkeye. and the fact that everyone liked it was bonus. BUT my actually favorite might be with friends like these, who needs enemies?, my hawkeye/margaret slow burn friendship fic and margaret deep dive. i want to make everyone read it and care about them as much as i do mwah

until recently i think the answer would probably have been holdyouhostage without much thought but honestly it. changes fairly often now lol. i think i'm going to go with i know i'm going to lose you (but god i don't want to) now. i don't have an explanation — i was just really pleased with how that piece came out ❤️

i write virtually every day of late! there have absolutely been times where i've gone weeks without writing a word, or without writing anything i wanted to keep, but i try to do a teensy bit every day. here is a sentence from today:

Once he’s rattled off the reservation name and room number and some bullshit about his wife losing their key, the receptionist gives Mello a card to Near’s room with concerningly little questioning and a cool smile.

i want to hold you (hostage) 👀 i visualize things a lot while writing but this was particularly true of HYH

(Ngl this au is not my most fleshed-out au ever so I’m making this stuff up as I go haha)

My headcanon for hyj in general/pre-reg is that he’s not super susceptible to the s-rank intimidation actually! Or is able to push past it relatively easily? So I think his wariness of shj is just part of his natural personality, and the more they interact, the less it starts to matter to him at all (which is to say: yes, he does become used to shj over time and isn’t affected by his awakening). In this verse, if/when awakenings start happening, how shj interacts with hyj changes more than the other way around (more detached and aloof, maybe?? The haughtiness goes through the roof for sure hahaha. Yoojin is not affected and decidedly unimpressed with it all haha)

As for how hyj and hyh meet, I think hyj probably spots hyh walking to school/the bus stop on his own at some point and starts paying more attention to him bc he’s concerned for his safety. He makes an excuse to knock on yh’s door (cooked too much food, mail mix-up, smth like that) and finds out that this little child has essentially been living alone for however long and his parents only come home, like. Once a week, idk. Hyj, being VERY concerned abt this, starts to bring hyh random treats and food and games and stuff when he can spare the time and money, and hyh, naturally, absolutely loves him for it. Hyh also doesn’t really get along w other kids his age, so having hyj’s full attention on him whenever they’re together is like his favorite thing ever (which, uh, becomes a problem when shj enters the picture lol)

Askdfnsndebjd your enthusiasm for yj’s parents dying LMAO 😂 I think in this verse, yj and yh are living in very similar situations—only children whose parents are neglectful—and they bond bc of that. Both of them are fiercely independent (w yj being the one exception for yh) so yj probably wouldn’t be very open to living w them, BUT! At some point, once he starts to trust shj more and spends more time in their apartment, he starts occasionally sleeping over and they mayhaps have a lil cuddle pile :> (also I wouldn’t necessarily label twenty-something shj as the most responsible person ever and would not put him in charge of two lil kids if only for my own peace of mind hahaha)

I have some issues with how the fight played out and what they cut but Yoojin throwing in Teacher was staged pretty cool in the art + Yoohyun visibly stepping down when he did It was just a couple panels but I liked it. Some unspoken visual stuff going on there a bit.

The dialogue itself where Yoojin was telling Noah it wasn't his fault

HYH's vendetta against anyone anywhere in any capacity having arms plural grows ever stronger (+ the 'aw look they do care about each other!' moment)

Thinking about your cached AU and I cannot /imagine/ the dissonance SHJ must feel everytime he sees Yoojin. Like going from the instinctive "Haha little F rank" to "oh shit what the /fuck/" in 0.5 seconds. *NOVEL SPOILERS* And that scene where SHJ's memories completely regress of a few chapters? Like, he sends down his chains to drag Yoojin to him and Yoojin is just like. No. And yanks the chains, unceremoniously dragging Sung Hyunjae down the stairs instead.

Oh! And that's not even mentioning the hilarity of the dungeon glitches!

LMFAO YEAH. I think early on I said hyj claims to be F-rank but realistically that's way too obvious a lie so in the yerim chapter I marked him down as claiming A-rank. S-rank would be even easier to pull off but ssm and hyh said "okay so as an s-rank here's the bare minimum amount of public appearances you'd have to make—" and he was like I'd Rather Die Than Face The Media (Again). and they were like oh. um. okay. well. A-ranks aren't nearly as popular even though they still are. would that work. and he was like ugh whatever. and they were all like [EXTREMELY RELIEVED SIGH]

so he has to keep up appearances as an A-rank... that combined with the subconscious awareness that he IS stronger than them, ALONG with the fact that he doesn't even pretend to be scared, honestly makes his relationship with the canon S-ranks. well. okay for those who are under his care it's like You're my dad! boogie woogie woogie just as in canon. but for, like, shj and mha and stw and the rest. he's very. I don't wanna say uncanny valley but they're all on edge around him a bit. of course shj is still like this guy is so fucked up (positive) (intrigued). but because hyj is """A""" rank instead of F-rank... you know how in canon they're all like hehe little F-rank we can push around for jokes and comedy. shj knows better than to try any jokes and comedy on hyj here.

it probably makes it worse than hyjs trying so half-heartedly to be like oh woe I'm a A rank who can't help but be weaker than you guys.... because during shj amnesia pool incident he tries to chain up and drag hyj over and hyj is like. [completely deadpan] oh noooo whatever will I do. these chaaaains have appeaaareeed to drag me awayyyyyy. noooo. he follows them and finds shj and immediately gives him an earful and gets a dunking anyway but he's about twice as pissy about it. prereg shj is having an absolute moment up there on the surface because he's all WHAT THE FUCK? WASNT THIS GUY F-RANK? WHAT? [←not scared per se but unused to this new status quo]

the thing is. even if hyj knows he's SS-rank and everyone knows he's SS-rank and he knows everyone knows etc etc etc. he just stonewalls them when they try to ask (Too Much Trouble). and he still puts up the bare minimum facade of being lower-ranked. so if an ss-rank monster shows up, then like... like okay, with the Babar he contributes about as much as in canon because solo he can't actually do anything, it IS a pretty formidable monster. maybe he takes over for yoohyun and orders him to stay back from the fight, or something, idk. with that dragon humanoid diarma sent, which he fought with shj and riette and noah, though. that he just lays into singlehandedly and then when the others are like ?????? he's like Ohhhh I uhhh forgot to say but Myeongwoo was testing out.... some sorta... extra special buffing equipment. yeah that's definitely it. [glowering] Do Not Tell Anyone Else. and like obviously no one believes him but like. lol. what are they gonna do, fight him? so SS rank han yoojin is just.... the sclass world's most badly kept secret
