Moments before the ryogi goes to jail

Ryogi turns on his heels. Getting ready to say goodbye

Shikadai wraps him in his body. He snuggles his arms around Ryogi's shoulders and gently pulls him into a tight, comfortable hug.

Ryogi relents. He doesn't question or resist Shikadai's way of guiding him anywhere. He returned the gentle touch, laying his face on Shikadai's chest and closing his eyes to feel that warmth more sensitively. The cold wind tickles his skin.

Shikadai sinks his fingers into the meeting of the marsala threads with the pale skin, threads so fine that they look like silk threads, gently caressing them, while making movements of small invisible circles in a slow and smooth frequency.

Time passes. Neither of them wants to leave.

Ryogi's heart was beating too fast. He felt like his chest was going to burst with anxiety and uncontrolled nervousness. His breathing was heavy, and he didn't know why he felt the lack of air in his lungs. His whole soul seemed to collapse in contrast to Shikadai's calm and easygoing way of comforting him in that very simple moment.

Then, they slowly move away. Shikadai runs his fingers through his pink hair and traces an imaginary line to his chin, stroking lightly with both hands. Before falling completely in love with that boy, he found himself lost in his gaze. An intimate but sweet mood prevailed over tension as Shikadai kissed those cheeks, which turned red in response. It was soft and brief, it was the second time he'd done it in such a natural and hard-to-reject way.

Ryogi is too shy, he wanted to hide his face with his hands in order to hide his shyness and obvious blush, but still, he couldn't help but smile after that touch

He cherished that moment fondly. Shikadai can confirm this by those feelings displayed in mute and fragile droplets of water in those clear eyes.

Ryogi sighs, not sure if in love or anxious. Until he has a lapse in thought. It would be the last touch of comfort he would ever feel.

Ugh sorry I need to be pathetic for a moment lol. No matter where I am in life I always feel completely alone and excluded. No matter how hard I try to make friends, get to know people or even just.. make acquaintances. Even on this godforsaken site which is ridiculous but true nonetheless. I try to reach out, I try to talk to people or even just tag mutuals in my gifsets and idk if this is just my overthinking (it probably is tbf) but it doesn't feel enough and it certainly doesn't get me anywhere. Aloof and lethargic, Hisui seems to be a serious person with a aura of melancholy and sadness around him. He acts nice but reserved with the toystore clients, talking just if them spoke him and out of that foccused on his own business. Hisuis is the type of person who can be see sleeping in anyplace with a calm look contrary to his gloomy usual or wandering just because he can do

But even with his gloomy and depressive episodes Hisui is surprisingly nice and empathic, understanding people's emotions and being able of helping them when he can. But ve also scolds them if it's neccesary or they made a mistake

With his family (adoptive father,sister and boyfriend) he acts more mischievous and a bit outgoing. Hisui smile and jokes more with them, acting teasingly but careful, loving his new family and being grateful with them. Despite it Hisui also could have moments where he feel a bit annoyed when Aoi,Akai and Ruka insist on take care of him during his depressive episodes or when he's having a bad moment with his health, that's because he sometimes think that he not deserve all the "warm and love" he has now due to his low self-esteem. In part for the experiments on him and the guilt for leave Kohaku, falling in depression when Hisui think how his beloved younger brother now hate him, but he trie (and fail) not show it when it happens

I think the book's form of storytelling- directly from Mark, at the end of or during a lapse in each day as he describes what he's been up to, his humor and personality at the total forefront of the prose- has less room for the isolation and the loneliess the movie shows. It's a lot different to just hear Mark describe a day spent dragging dirt into the Hab than it is to see a series of shots of him, alone and mostly quiet, doing the mundane work by himself.

But even so, you couldn’t help but worry about their parents. Fully grown sirens get SUPER protective of their children, but you’ve yet to see neither tail nor fin of mom and dad. Where were these kids’ parents? You weren’t stupid, they HAD to be nearby. No one had ever heard of a mer who just up and left their children alone like this, so where the heck were these kids’ guardians??

It's only when four arms cage you in and threaten to capsize your tiny boat that you realize, maybe you shouldn't have asked.
