#look I love soft and traumatized Edgeworth

(tw: mention of suicide) Did we, as a fandom, just collectively forget how ruthless Miles Edgeworth can be sometimes? And I’m not just talking about his demon prosecutor era, I mean also after his redemption arc. Because I was just playing through Farewell My Turnabout and watching him reveal Adrian Andrews attempted suicide in court after she begged both him and Phoenix not to… I was sitting there with my mouth open thinking: damn Edgeworth, was that really necessary??

And you know what, I love it. I love how he was ruthless in getting a guilty verdict in the past, and now he uses that ruthlessness to find the truth. Because I'm not just here for the traumatized, socially awkward, emotionally constipated, caring Edgeworth. I'm also here for the ruthless, intimidating, competent, morally grey Edgeworth. I'm not here for a watered-down version of Edgeworth. He wouldn't be my favorite character if he didn't have this nuance.

Edgeworth wanted to be a defense attorney!! D: God, why do I feel like something really tragic probably happened to him to make him change so drastically? Phoenix looks like he knows something, but is it the whole story or just part of it? I am so invested in their story now, especially since you keep dropping hints about their epic love!!

Edgeworth basically just confirmed he's trying to protect Phoenix (and it seems like Gumshoe too?) from this case about his dad!! And he was so prickly in the cases before, literally the last thing he said was he never wanted to see Phoenix again, but now he's exposing so much of his soft underbelly and actually being nice. Like, "I'm sorry if it sounded like I thought you weren't up to the job"? Boy is a softy at heart, no wonder Gumshoe is so taken with him!

Wait if the case happened 15 years ago and Edgeworth is 24, that means it happened when he was 9!! D: Oh, poor thing, he watched his father get fucking murdered at nine years old! And then he watched the murderer go free. Jesus, that's upsetting. Where did he go after that? Is that when Phoenix and Larry lost touch with him? So many questions.

i know!!!! it’s so sad ;;A;; and lskjfshg i never actually tried to figure out his age when the case happened, he was so young this just makes everything so much worse D: !!!!!! This entire case and situation is so tragic and traumatic my word, it’s really really sad....

he is such a softy omg i dont think you’ve reached the point where the backstory of how they knew each other is explained but he was!!! a softy!!!! he really cares about people!!!! gumshoe knows it and phoenix knows it!!!! oh geez, i think this is where it’s also explained why phoenix became a defense attorney too??? (pardon if my timelines are mixed up, i havent watched these in a while and!!!! i haven’t gotten the chance to yet bc sleep held me back!!!)

i wouldn’t be surprised if karma’s “apprenticeship” is what made him so cold and prickly all the time and hiding his softness
