wip title meme ♡
— when you break a man’s finger for insulting your wife
can't believe no one was curious about this one smh i love when men are insane about their wives but that's okay. so, this happens once they've settled back into the organisation, and some context here is that diana is not well-liked back there. like, not at all. even though she is a key figure in the bioweapons research there, and her position is high up, she may be respected for that, but she is still regarded with a lot of hostility by agents in the company
so, they are in the main hall, where there are a lot of people present, and this guy walks past them and purposefully bumps into diana while calling her something very not nice under his breath. people side-eye her, but as always, she just ignores it and continues walking. wesker, on the other hand, does not
he instantly picks this guy up by his throat with ease and pins him to the nearest wall before saying in the calmest, most collected voice, "i believe you owe her an apology" and diana is standing there like… so, those things you would casually say about protecting me which would be horrifying to most people were definitely not a joke… interesting. this guy tears his eyes from wesker to look over at her before scoffing and saying in this mocking tone that he sees she has a bodyguard now. not a very wise choice on this guy's part
wesker reaches down with the hand not holding this guys throat, which he's been gently squeezing ever so slightly, and he breaks this agent's trigger finger while tilting his head slightly to watch his reaction. the groan and yelp were nice, but not what he wanted. he wished to make this guy scream in agony for ever speaking to diana in such a way, but all he does is remain graceful about it all, and he repeats himself, saying it would be wise for him to apologise or he might end up with more broken fingers, and oh, he wouldn't be very useful then, now would he?
i will not lie to you, this whole display really turns diana on. like, i'm sorry, but that makes her so woozy. but, he only tightens his grip on this guy's neck, testing him, while everyone in the hall watches this unfold. further context here, this agent was a friend of her ex-husband's and there were a lot of rumours that circulated about what happened to him, even though nothing could implicate her, but they all knew how he had made a fool of her, and as ruthless as she is, they wouldn't have been surprised if she offed him, but this all only added to the insults she would receive
this guy finally realises this isn't an empty threat when it gets very hard to breathe, so he weakly mutters something out. wesker turns his head and puts a hand up to his ear, as if to say 'what was that?' while lessening his grip on the man's throat, and he gasps loudly for breath, which makes wesker roll his eyes (fed up lmao). his eyes dart between the two of them before he apologises to diana, and wesker glances over at her before shaking his head, saying that wasn't good enough, so he gets this guy to plead for her forgiveness, and it's such a satisfying sight for diana
wesker lets him go and he stumbles away while holding his neck and gasping some more, then wesker looks back at her properly and the way her eyes have darkened amuses him far too much. but there is also this… appreciation behind it which catches him off guard, and he wonders how often this sort of thing happens. and yes, she may or may not have walked closer to him and whispered in his ear for him to meet her in her lab in a few before walking away, and he delights in how people in the hall can't even look at him

WIP Snippet
I haven't shared any snippets for a minute but I had to share this one from the next chapter of lifeline.
“Mm. Think bribery is an effective technique?” Holy shit, the low chuckle that Eddie releases is right beside his ear, his breath ghosting across his cheek. He can feel the heat from Eddie’s body along his back. He can’t stop the full-body shiver that goes through him, makes his hands shake, which of course means he does drop the plate. Thankfully, he’d already been about to place it on the drying rack, so it doesn't break. But what the hell?! Eddie’s mood swings are gonna give him whiplash soon - one minute he’s keeping a safe distance, pulling away, putting distance between them. Then the next minute he’s doing whatever the fuck this is. Though Eddie doesn’t seem to notice his internal screaming, or he ignores it, because he just continues without pause. His hands close around the edge of the counter on either side of Buck to bracket him in, and that is not helping his body's reaction to this.
“So if I tell you I’ll bring home one of those chicken rolls you love so much from that little stand on the corner…” Eddie continues in a low voice, lips brushing his ear with every word. “You’re going to leave the housework alone, go and make yourself comfortable on the couch, maybe tell yourself some of those things I wrote in your journal yesterday?” “Uh - yeah … Yeah, I can do that.” Buck nods jerkily, swallowing past the lump rising in his throat. “Thank you.” Buck turns then, and he expects Eddie to step back like he always does lately. But he doesn’t - he's unmoving, staring at Buck with a cocky look on his face, that look he gets when he knows he’s won an argument. And Buck just stares, searches his eyes for any indication that the something he’s feeling is there in Eddie’s eyes too. Because it has to be, right? There's no way Eddie's acting like this if it isn't. But as he searches, he can see the moment something like fear flashes through those eyes. “Eddie-” In one word, Eddie’s expression changes completely, the confidence fading away to leave his face stripped bare. The emotion in his eyes is plain to see. It's covered with fear and uncertainty, but it’s there. That something more that Buck's been feeling, it’s right there, reflected back at him. Buck knows it, he can see it in the way Eddie’s head tilts slightly, the way his eyes flick down to his lips, the ways his lips move around Buck's name as he leans a fraction closer - “We’re gonna be late!” Chris’ voice breaks the moment, and while Buck can’t fault the kid for anything, he would have given anything for one more moment. He hates the way Eddie steps back instantly, the way the guard comes back over his eyes like a steel door being slammed shut.

For the WIP game, I have questions about all of them! If I *have* to narrow it down to one, though, I'm gonna go with '5 times pike.' There are so many ways that one could go! (Also, I saw 'janeway naps on the beach' and my immediate thought was that 'good for her' meme 😂)
omg you would pick the one I have the least written for to ask about 😂
5 times pike's actual title is Five Times Captain Pike Accidentally Avoided His Fate and the One Time He Didn't (original, right?). I'm still trying to figure out how the multiverse is going to work so I don't even really have anything more to share, unfortunately.
However I do have a little something for Janeway naps on the beach, which you can find below 😊
ask me about my wip game
It was unseasonably cool that day. Not enough for the weather net to flag the temp and correct it, but enough that the sand was warm and the Gulf almost uncomfortably cold. Chakotay waded in from the open water, rubbing his hand back and forth across his head to fling the water from the regulation short strands, and gratefully accepted a towel and a cold drink from Gretchen Janeway.
"How's the tournament going?" he asked as he draped the towel across his shoulders. He gulped down the water as he turned to observe the beach volleyball game in progress a few meters down the beach from where Gretchen had set up her beach towel and chair.
"The Parises are up by one, but Annika hasn't served yet," Gretchen said.
Surprised, Chakotay turned back. "I though the agreement was for her to play on the Paris team since Hannes plays professionally."
"That was before Phoebe saw Julia's serve."
He watched as Julia Paris made a running dive to save an expertly spiked ball from Seven, allowing B'Elanna a chance to tip it over the net and trigger another few minutes of volleying. They were playing 3v3, Phoebe, her husband Hannes, and Seven against Julia, B'Elanna, and Tom. Several of the Paris and Janeway cousins gathered around the sidelines, cheering as control of the ball returned to the Janeways. Seven delivered a devastating serve to the Parises.
"And now they're tied again."
Chakotay turned back to look at Gretchen and saw that she hadn't even looked up from her PADD, and he smiled at the familiar amused but distracted look on her face. "Working vacation for you as well?" he asked.
"Quantum mechanics finals wait for no one," she said, making a few slashing marks with a stylus before looking up. "You didn't think Kathryn got all of her bad working habits from her father just because he was the admiral and I'm the professor, did you?"
Chakotay chuckled and said, "Even if I had been under that impression, it would have been corrected the moment I watched you two debating the nature of the Q as you polished off a carafe of coffee at 2300 last night." He turned his gaze back to the game and frowned. "Speaking of, where is Kathryn? Did she get called back to headquarters with Admiral Paris?"
"Oh, no. She's got the baby in the shade over yonder," Gretchen said, turning in her chair and pointing to the tree line behind her.
He followed her gaze until he found the erstwhile captain. She was stretched out on a lounging beach chair, carefully shaded by both the towering palm trees and an over-sized umbrella. Sunglasses obscured her eyes, but he could tell from the tilt of her head and the utter relaxation of her body that was out cold. A teenager sat next to her idly perusing a paper publication, also making notes on a PADD. "Don't any of you Janeways know how to take a vacation?" he teased.
"Hmm? Oh, that's Rebecca, Phoebe's eldest. She burns in the sun just like Kathryn." Gretchen's face softened as she watched her daughter sleep. "I haven't seen Katie sleep this much in a very long time," she said, softly.
"Spirits know I've done my fair share of napping since our return as well," he said, keeping his voice deliberately light. "In fact, a nap in the shade doesn't sound too bad. I think I'll join them."
"Mm," Gretchen said aloud, but he heard the other ten things she left unsaid. "You were a good first officer, Mr. Chakotay. I'm glad Kathryn had you to rely on our there. But this is your vacation, too. You are allowed to stand down your watch."
She didn't mean it in a bad way, he knew. "Mrs. Janeway, there's nowhere else I would rather be than right here, right now, in this moment." He pointed to the shade. "Except for maybe right there."
