Everybody handles stress and trauma differently. For Raj, he became extremely stoic. As a preteen and a child, he used to be very friendly, some would even describe as "bubbly" and a chatterbox. Get him started about video games, you won't be able to stop him.

Until you do, by telling him to shut up or "that's stupid" or "you're being childish".

The Raj we see today is extremely reserved and generally (unless it's something completely out of left field or overtly sexual) he won't really react to it. The reason why he's like this today is because around the time he was a preteen turning into a teenager; he joined the cybernetic preparation program and moved to a small town by a military base. The sudden move and not having any friends made him a ripe target for bullying; and so he's never really been the same since.

He used to get really excited about things like a new video game coming out - or so excited after seeing a new movie that he'd do a couple laps around the parking lot. But not anymore - because people made fun of him for expressing his joy (so now it's hidden).

Being in the military compounded the problem, because now instead of just hide your joy, it's hide all your emotions, shove them down, and don't complain. My boy has the potential to be a ticking time bomb, and he knows it. This is why he has to navigate life extremely carefully due to his power; he doesn't want to lash out on someone who doesn't deserve it.

im obsessed w this au,, i was wondering how mike took it when dave was adopted? and how both of them took it when raj was adopted?

Dave was a strange case. Initially, Noah and Cody adopted Mike and intended on keeping him an only child. however one evening Dave quite literally showed up at the door, leaving Noah and Cody no choice but to take him in as their own (tropey as but he came with a note explaining that the mother was trying to escape from her abusive partner, and couldn't raise her baby in the conditions she was in). Dave was legally adopted on his first birthday.

At first, Mike was pumped (free little brother!), he's always been the youngest and thought it was so cool that he could be the older one for once. That did not last long. Mike doesn't remember much of that year, mainly cuz Chester was fronting pretty much the whole time (and eventually Svetlana when Dave learned he could throw things when he was cranky)

You'd think that raising a baby/toddler like Dave would prevent you from having more kids, but I guess Noah and Cody were built different. idk baby fever got the best of them I guess, and that's how Raj came into the picture.

of fucken course Dave was jealous of him (he's mellowed out about it recently but he still avoids Raj quite a bit). Mike however, felt different. This kid wasn't needy or annoying or anything like that, like he felt at peace for once..

so Forbin doesn't have wings, and has really funky horns when hes older because of his servitude to the queen of the land in his teenage years to present time, he was originally very disobedient and had his wings cut off as punishment for all his misdeeds, once he became obedient and one of her more "loyal" subjects, she granted him very high standing horns(I'll probably post about my dragonborn hagiarchy at some point) for his loyalty. Forbin is a half born, with no fire in his body, claws, or sharp canines, and he had a week immune system as a kid.

Raj was born in the pit(ill aslo probably make a post on that) and became friends with Forbin when he was place there. Raj became Forbin's right hand after the queen elected him to be in charge of the pit. Raj eventually left after he noticed Forbin using magic to get him to do whatever he wanted him to.

The Day Site Director Ramirez Faced Unforeseen Challenges

It was a typical day at the Facility, with researchers bustling around the various labs and containment chambers. Dr. Patel was overseeing a team of scientists as they studied uSCP-5823, the sentient suit of armor, trying to determine the extent of its intelligence and whether it posed a threat to Foundation personnel.

Meanwhile, Agent Davis was monitoring uSCP-3467, the plant-like creature that emitted toxic gas. Recent testing had revealed the existence of an antidote, and she was overseeing the development of a more effective and efficient version.

Down the hall, Dr. Chen was overseeing the containment of uSCP-8776, the time looping chamber. The SCP had been causing some concern among personnel, as some had reported experiencing time loops outside of the chamber. Dr. Chen was working to determine the extent of the SCP's effects and to find a way to mitigate its potential impact on personnel.

In another part of the facility, Agent Rodriguez was overseeing the study of uSCP-5698, a mysterious object that had been recovered from a remote archaeological site. The object appeared to emit a low-level electromagnetic field that disrupted electronic devices and caused unusual sensations in nearby humans. The team was attempting to decipher the object's purpose and origin.

As the day wore on, each team reported progress in their research. Dr. Patel's team had discovered that uSCP-5823 was capable of limited communication and seemed to have a sense of self-preservation. Agent Davis's team had successfully developed an antidote for uSCP-3467's toxic gas that was more effective than the previous version. Dr. Chen's team had determined that uSCP-8776's effects were not permanent and could be reversed with treatment. Agent Rodriguez's team had made progress in deciphering the purpose of uSCP-5698 and had identified several potential applications for the object's unique properties.

As the day came to a close, the various teams reported their findings to Site Director Ramirez. Despite the challenges posed by these unpredictable and dangerous SCPs, the research teams remained committed to understanding them and finding ways to minimize their impact on Foundation personnel and the wider world.

AMC's Nautilus

Action, political intrigue, plot twists and a healthy amount of sea monster skirmishes:

These are just some of the many reason why even those unfamiliar with the works of Jules Verne will find "Nautilus" to be an engaging SciFi adventure series.

Here are my (spoiler-free) thoughts on the show.

Note: as I write this, "Nautilus" is airing only on SVT: This is How I Watched it Living Outside of Sweden

When I heard that there was going to be a TV series about Captain Nemo's backstory, I was mightily aprehensive. The main reason for this apprehension was the mere fact that Captain Nemo's past is so dark and tragic. Thankfully, the series begins after the horrific events of the 1857 rebellion and just as the Nautilus is launched. What happened to Nemo's family is shown in flashbacks which explain the events without being graphic.

When I began the show, I honestly had very low expectations. I didn't really expect to like it. To my delighted asonishment, it turned out to be one of the best film tributes to Jules Verne I've ever seen - no hyperbole.

Throughout the series, there are fight scenes, periodic depictions of people bleeding and a couple "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" innuendo jokes, so I wouldn't watch it with a small child, but I think it would be appropriate to watch with most young teenagers (13+).

I believe both well-read Jules Verne fans and those who've hardly heard the name "Captain Nemo" will enjoy the intriguing storyline, likable characters and aesthetic scenery. There are many other factors which made me fall in love with "Nautilus" as well:

The Man of the Seas

The character of Captain Nemo has always facinated me. I was blown away by how perfectly and accurately Captain Nemo was portrayed in this series. Shazad Latif, in my opinion, is an immaculate Captain Nemo and he really brought the character to life with all his complexities. Out of all the film portrayals of Captain Nemo I've seen, I'd have to say his has been by far my favorite.

Tributes to Indian History and Culture

I'm American an my husband is Indian. He and I were both very impressed with the way in which Indian culture and history were presented. I want to see more shows like this to teach our son about his heritage. 

Many of the action scenes reminded me of South Indian cinema. In one episode there is a scene where the Nautilus crew is playing cricket against some Englishmen, which may seem a little disconnected from the rest of the story, but Bollywood fans may recognize it as a delightful tribute to "Lagaan."

The Writers Were Well-Verse in Vernian Lore

Although the story wasn't 100% accurate to the book, the writers obviously had read Verne's books and knew the nuances of Nemo's story and background quite throughly.

There were certain details which made me excited, such as when Nemo has an enigmatic exchange with an Englishman in which they greet each other warmly and seem to be thanking each other for...something. Nemo ends the conversation by saying, "Give my regards to Phileas!"

In Verne's other classic, "Around the World in 80 Days," Princess Aouda is the widow of the Raj of Bundelkhand. Since Jules Verne often dropped little hints that his books existed in the same universe, I always wondered if Aouda and Nemo were distantly related, since Bundelkhand is Nemo's kingdom of origin.

A question is posed: in this conversation, was Nemo thanking the Foggs for saving someone he cared about? This is the first time I've ever seen anyone address the detail that Aouda and Nemo might be relatives.

Tributes to the artwork of Alphonse de Neuville and Édouard Riou

I noticed several shots which were obvious tributes to the first-edition illustrations of Jules Verne's classics, such as Captain Nemo standing on the submarine deck with his spyglass, and the map of Lincoln Island on a cave wall. Those details absolutely thrilled me! 

Everything I've Ever Wanted in a Verne-Inspired TV Series - Except for That Cliffhanger!

Everything about this show absolutely floored me. It was everything I could have hoped for in a Captain Nemo TV series...and then it ended.

Such a well-done series ending with fairly significant loose ends felt like a punch in the gut more forceful than the maelstrom itself. I've been trying not to let it overshadow the rest of the show. I wish with all my heart that there could be a season two!

If anyone's curiosity gets the better of them, I compiled a list HERE of questions I desperately want to know the answers to. I hope someone may be able to answer my questions one day!

I want NEED more!

While I'm still coping with my post-series let down, I find myself pining away for more shows like this; shows based off of classic adventure novels which honor the spirit of the origional author.

I want shows which are imaginative, exciting and engaging, but have snippets of real-life science, culture and history woven in. Incidentally, I daresay these are the same elements which make the stories of Jules Verne himself so timeless.

However they also has this attitude "I do this job because of my hobby" and still consider possibility to change to another job which give the impression they still in their mid 20. [  ] I headcanon Surya is younger than Wakuu is because Surya is still working his fellowship / PHD which put him under 30. Meanwhile Wakuu despite looking young he actually professional Astrophysic which take time [  ] Rafael may look like he in his 30, but personaly he giving someone that still under 30. Also based on the family photo it seems like Pablo already in his teenager years while Rafael is around 5-6 years old so i can see Pablo in his mid 30 with 8 years age gap. [  ] I assume Alice and Suki in their early 30. Because how Suki  look like she in her mid 30 while Alice in her mid 20. So I make median and choose early 30 for both of them. Noah will be around the same age based on Noah conversation that Noah and Alice is childhood friend so i assume they around the same age. However I make him bit younger than Alice because he just seems younger than Alice. [  ] Scott is professional archeologist so atleast in early 30 and  so I make Zarah around his age because they just seems like around the same age because they had work together before. ep 13: listen, i think wayne winning is fine. do i love himbos? yes. was i rooting for him in the finale? yes. in the grand scheme of things, do i think he is a good finalist? no. we can all agree that hes very much an owen, and i dont mind that!! i actually think having a fan favorite, comic relief, underdog third party winning makes sense in this season, because i dont think caleb or julia winning would be a satisfying end (especially how they were handling them by the end)

caleb's story was messy, and at the end of the day (and i know that the intentions changed), he did start his alliance with priya to use her. him winning, after all of the drama, after priya was gone, wouldve just idk felt shitty. he did get the girl in the end, which concludes his story better than him winning it. (if im comparing this to the tdi 2007 final three,, i guess hes the gwen)

as for julia, she had two seasons to be villain, and it was amazing. she is so good at what she does and she is such a joy to watch. and we all know how total drama handles its villains, they need to get their comeuppance. did bowie double cross her last season? yes. and she came back still was the main villain and was AMAZING at it. but she was still the villain for another 13 episodes, AND HER GETTING PRIYA OUT LAST EPISODE, she cant win. was her just desserts satisfying? meh. nice callback to heather (we all know julia is the heather of this comparison), though i can understand people who dont like this callback and think its tiring or something. they couldve done something else, but im not mad (i kinda fuck with the mullet). i just see no satisfying way for julia to win with how she was presented in these seasons: she was not world tour heather, with three full length seasons and a greater threat to overcome; she was island heather, and therefore could not win.

overall thoughts of the season:

im someone that thinks the hockey bros jokes nearly always land, so i enjoy the shit out of them (i think im in the majority?)

im someone that did not like priyaleb at first, grew to being more neutral about it, but still found it to be a bit tiring. i like priya, i like caleb, i dont like tiring romantic subplots, and it sucks that that was the entire thing for these characters this season

the julia mk duo was AMAZING, one of the highlights of this season and one that i never wouldve expected to be real. mkulia wins in my heart and i hope they start their podcast (JULIA WAS GOIGN TO USE THE MONEY TO START THE PODCAST WITH MK HOLY SHIT GIRL IS IN LOVE)

it sucks that certain characters really got nothing this season (millie, nichelle, emma, and even axel to an extent).. but i get that characters like millie and emma already had a lot of screentime last time and someone has to be an early boot (just realize the ones i listed off were all women,, damn the writers fr just hate women)

at the end of the day, i really enjoyed this season. and i think the most important part of that enjoyment was this was the first time i got to watch a season and have no idea what was going to unfold. i watched the first four season of total drama when they were airing, but i was a little kid with poor comprehension skills. the first three seasons aired before i knew how to read (i learned to read late). and with tdpi, rr, and tdi 2023, i watched them after the fact and knew who the winners were going in. this was the first season i watched were i truly did not know the winner, and that added to my enjoyment. not to mention this being the one and only time i was present in an online space to talk about show as the episodes dropped. this season was a bit messy here and there, but it delivered some great stuff. i found myself laughing out loud and just having a good time, which is all i need out of my silly little cartoon

Containment Breach: A Normal Day at the Facility

It was a normal day at the Facility. Dr. Patel was walking down the long, sterile hallway, making his way to his lab. He passed by a few of the uSCPs, which were kept in secure containment chambers along the way.

First, he passed by uSCP-0420, the cannabis plant. It was one of the more harmless anomalies, but the air around it was thick with a sweet, pungent smell that made Dr. Patel feel a bit lightheaded.

Next, he passed by uSCP-7163, a sentient, talking cactus. The cactus was currently in a state of deep sleep, so it wasn't saying anything. Dr. Patel had to admit that he found the cactus a bit unnerving, with its beady eyes and constantly shifting body.

As he continued down the hallway, he saw uSCP-8646, a swarm of tiny, metallic insects. They were currently buzzing around in their containment chamber, emitting a soft, humming noise that sounded like a thousand tiny machines working together in perfect harmony.

Dr. Patel finally arrived at his lab and began working on his latest project. He was developing a new serum that could potentially reverse the effects of uSCP-9824, the Memory Vortex. It was a highly dangerous anomaly, and Dr. Patel knew that if it were to ever breach containment, the results could be catastrophic.

As he worked, Dr. Patel couldn't help but wonder about the other uSCPs he had seen on his way to the lab. He wondered what kind of experiments the other researchers were conducting on them and what secrets they held.

Suddenly, the facility's alarms blared, indicating a breach in containment. Dr. Patel's heart raced as he realized that one of the uSCPs had escaped. He quickly grabbed his emergency gear and ran down the hallway, ready to help contain the anomaly.

As he approached the containment area, he saw uSCP-2357, a giant, carnivorous plant, had escaped its chamber. Dr. Patel quickly activated the emergency protocols and worked with his team to contain the plant and return it to its containment chamber.

After the incident was resolved, Dr. Patel took a deep breath and returned to his lab. He knew that, despite the dangers, he was doing important work at the Facility. He couldn't wait to see what kind of anomalies he would encounter on his next normal day at the Facility.
