Guess who’s pulling the strings behind RV+? That’s right, it’s Kahuna Moon!

- Raifort is Kahuna Moon

- Terra is / was Turo

- Turo didn't go through the time machine (Sada however was probably pushed at some point). Moon was one of the assistants in the Tera Project as the usage of the strange crystals to create desires could benefit her. Gets pissed when the professor used it for his own selfish desires and eventually builds an AI so he doesn't need anyone else to help. Moon used Dialga to destroy him. … Dialga may not be able to go against her, but may still have something to do with Terra being in the present.

- World being destroyed by time ripples paradoxes, Moon has no reason to intervene since this is what she wanted.

- She joins the school under a fake name with vast knowledge of events she proooobably shouldn't know about (BUT HISTORY) and keeps a close eye on things with Tulio. The Voices don't seem aware of her though, so she lays low and watches fireworks.

- Terra bails on school altogether and joins Team Star until just before Violet events when things are getting weird and she gets flustered at watching things continue to get worse when they could totally do… something right?

- Gets out into the world and finds it to be a lot harder than she thought.

- Events of the game, she starts to learn to rely on other people even if she's kind of become the leader of the Area Zero group. Despite the others, the AI somehow seems determined that only Terra can fix this. Likely because of its ties to Turo, it views her as the only one able to stop the mess he started.

-Moon is pissed to see the machine stopped even if she doesn't understand how or why yet. Goes back to Area Zero herself and sets off a second wave of the Randomizer.

- "Raifort" is starting to realize the truth when Terra starts coming to class more often. The Voices… if they're involved they could ruin everything. She had a new mission for the young genius then.

- Should not have awoken the Treasures of Ruin. Now the Creation Trio and Arceus are roaming Area Zero.

- More waves, more problems. Terra may have been alerted to the fact she's not the only host who's investigating the region but what are they supposed to do when reality itself seems to be unraveling?

- Raifort reveals she's doing all this to destroy this world just as hers was destroyed long ago. If she can't fix hers, if the Voices won't help, then she'll make them suffer the same fate!

- Rises up in the shoulders of a Regigas, harbinger of The End

So Kahuna Moon/Raifort is the villain behind the glitchfuckery of Paldea. Possibly the destruction of the entire world... which makes me curious as to how the anniversary run ties into all of this. Will it be the first step into a somehow remade universe, or the last bastion of existence after reality folds in on itself and goes poof?

I love seeing what I would consider one of my favorite TPP works for one of my favorite TPP runs get some more love from another lorewriter

Ultra really has everything I love about TPP. Character development, weird reality-bending shenanigans, a fantastic villain, unearthly creatures from beyond the pale, and interesting ties to other runs

There was some lore back when we did Conquest for the first time that Napoleon and D were descendants of the ancient warlord Abin the Third (Pepe didn't exist back then), which made them distantly related to Bill and Alice

I wonder if Iquarus's 'invincibility' was more a gift or a curse. Given how Iquarus had the self-preservation instincts of a masochistic lemming, it was likely a little of both

it's less 'invincibility' and more 'fence horse refuses to deal with iqarus's family until forced to' :Kappa:

the horse would foist this off on yveltal/plume/ho-oh/the death god of your choice, but a side-effect of its deal with iqarus is that it has to deal with his descendants until his genes work out of the gene pool :Kappa:

... actually that'd make a fairly significant chunk of the human population invincible surprisingly fast

okay, so, we did the ss anne rival fight before the rocket-hijack-boat-sinks bit, so as the run was happening we assumed azure was also on the anne when it sunk

we spent… basically all of johto searching for her. some people thought she’d died

and then, a fair ways into johto, deku edited the rom while drunk and a random trainer totally glitched out

To add to Bugsy and the Cult of Olden, for some reason in Brown (the following run) Azalea Town was the only Johto town you could reach after an apparent eruption blocked all the roads to explore further?? So Paul took a VERY long bike ride to deliver the gym a pizza if memory serves me right. No real reason to either, but it was in the post game so part of our quest for "The Mystery Bird~" the Tickets were after? I'm not so familiar with Brown if anyone wants to jump in

Yup. The Mystery Bird. After Evan got access to the Tomb of the Voices on Mt Silver, he found the bird sprite at the back of the ruins. It flew off. At the end of Brown, he rescued the bird but it still flew off. We then got some heavy hunting this was all a build up to the release of Prism which we were getting to play opening day

Behind the scenes with The Calling

So I speedran through The Calling [Haji’s old Randomized Platinum fic] and lemme just say how I really love how the gym battle system worked, the dancing and literal physical combat between the Pokémon and the literal trainers themselves

Pepe’s adorable, but that scene in Floaroma when he stops the grunts from the stealing the man’s honey with his creepily calm assertiveness was pretty badass to me, ngl, considering his reluctance to confront and fight

Even though it is old, the mystery surrounding certain locations is pretty good (Old Chateau, the Ravaged Path, that weird pool thing in the Oreburgh Mines) it’s cool to see someone’s interpretation of events different from my own

Also Pepe and Pearl’s relationship was very fun to read! The mystery of Napoleon’s disappearance really piqued my interest, and I was not really sure if he was his older brother in this interpretation (idk if they got separated from birth or something, or just simply not brothers at all) but it’s nice to see that Pearl still cares for him

Another thing that interested me was Pepe’s religious upbringing, with the fossils and all and being raised in some church, before moving to Twinleaf Town- I think it really gave his character good background and depth, which also ties into his peacemaking pacifist-like mindset

But anyways that’s all I have to say about Haji’s The Calling series, hope you don’t mind my rambling review @Haji

I really enjoy the battle system. I've been trying to study different dance styles to make each one unique in how it functions.

I would normally be all like "shhh spoilers" but considering the story hasn't had an update in like five years, it seems silly to ask you to wait. It's a separated at birth situation. Why though is because I play a lot with destiny in the TPP universe especially having a single timeline in a seemingly cyclonic world

Yeeeaaah.... [Pepe’s religious background] was one of the factors in my nervousness. At the time I preceded every Author Note basically going "Look, my lore is weird. Don't eat me" or something because I knew even if that's how it played in my head, I was scared of "going against the grain" with what everyone else was doing. Which mostly was Pepe the Frog memes and artistic snob portrayal

Personally, I felt that the artistic snob sort of personality didn’t mesh well with his shyness (in my opinion, it’s just a matter of taste), but I imagine that if he did paint, it would be out of a sort of therapy for his trauma under the voices and the crazy things he experienced in his life… or he just wanted to paint a cute Skitty because he has a weakness for cute things :Begwan:

I can see that. In fact, after Ultra events, I like to imagine he does a lot of art for that reason. Still trying to remember things and drawing out memories to make sense of it. His friends can remind him of things they recognize or talk to him about some of the more disturbing images

[The girl in the Ravaged Path] would be Mindy! The Candice replacement in this world. She was a Psychic Trainer and portrayed as a showman, but Fossil wise, I had her with Cover

Napoleon is mentioned by Pearl in the story, so I’m assuming they must have met when they were very young- where did Napoleon end up? And did Pepe learn that Napoleon was his older brother in the end, maybe after-game?

Napoleon went to stay with Aunt Grace and Richard while all this was going on. Honestly never knew he had a brother until after Ultra events. Which finding out after that just made him worse about the whole... Trying to murder Pepe multiple times while not himself thing. Pepe woke up at the villa after they got back home only to learn it's been months he's been in a coma (time shenanigans. He made sure Leo was able to wake up in the "canon" timeline in order to stop Cyrus but it seems in a weird way, Pepe took his place. Missed everything during the Bill Overlord events and was too injured to do the Unova stuff with Cly, but Leo knew he was okay enough to go with the other S1 hosts)

Pepe on the other hand found out about Napoleon during his journey, so he knew  about it WAY ahead of Leo but they still didn't meet for.... Some time??? Again, Pepe becoming a time traveler at the end of his run makes his lore in my timeline hilariously screwy

Sort of. With Forrest's [Gardenia] backstory I was going to get more into the pre-RPlat / pre-Red war stuff that was going on when he was a kid. Gravund [Roark] and the boys would have been too little to remember but Forrest was a little younger than Pepe is now so he's got some scars from it. Basically the family got split up when fleeing the violence so Johanna has Leo with her and thought her husband and other son didn't make it. Pepe was taken to Hearthome like many other war orphans but while it wasn't separated at birth they were both around maybe one or two years old at most

And before you ask about their father, I had an idea and then I wasn't sure but I've been on the fence about things so let's just leave him as a giant question mark

Yeah... But things are peaceful for next several decades (next Sinnoh run wasn't until Gauntlet), so they've got time. Help out with the others when duty calls, but even many of the other hosts know they can go to Napoleon's palace to get away from things for a while. Cly's mansion is often a nice hang out but it also happens to be the gang's base of operations in secret so there's always some level of alert since Unova isn't as stable as Sinnoh is. (And besides, for Aaaaaall the trauma of Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn seeming to be in a consistent state of peril, Sinnoh is lovingly close by for Leo and Pepe to give a sense of normalcy for the newbies)

Whatever happened to Waning Moon!Faba?

Part of me likes to think the Voices never recovered [from the Faba battle in Waning Moon] either so when we have bouts of noisemakers and funny music replacement, it's a lingering side effect from when we took a hit to save Devin and it made us a bit more sensitive to these influences. Sometimes it's an outside force (like Meloetta) sometimes it's just the Voices have some level of reality warping and will randomly play music for the current host going "Gee, I'm glad SOMEONE is having fun. Mutter mutter, I was not born a loser, jerks"

I love my headcanon that Faba is Ein in disguise and he's been using his job at Aether to cover for continuing his unethical bio-research

For my lore, S3 Faba is literally the worst. Which is saying something. Especially when we have people like the above.

It's toned down as the generations have passed which is still saying something that I'm sure Ace has gotten an earful from his dad going "Oh if you knew how lucky you have it. MY FATHER..."

But yes the tl;dr timeline for original Faba for me goes

Ein in Colosseum, quietly steps out when things go awry

Faba in Sun, still manipulating Lusamine as a dear old friend (and probably helped raise her when he worked for her father)

Hijacks things a bit to take the Aether to the "real world" where Nigel can't follow.

Waning Moon events where he's determined no one is going to stop them this time with Quips getting "killed" (he didn't know the kid survived) and laying multiple other traps for the new kid all while getting an indepth study on the Voices during his travels.

Not as upset as he pretends when this fails, he's been forming contacts in Unova for a backup plan

Helps Cipher take over Unova seemingly disappears during the 30way War of Randomized White 2. Likely killed but hard to say who or what got him during the chaos

He may be gone but his family still thrives in the shadows.

This being RW2 it could have been any number of things -- heck, he's mostly lived in warmer climates, he could've just frozen solid when the whole Kyurem thing happened and is now an icicle

A distinct possibility. It's also possible the Dream Mist got to him since my personal explanation for several things in the RW2 crisis was Unova was slowly sinking into The Void. Some people get possessed by Voices, others by Glitches, some just get outright physically warped (like in the Darkrai movie) due to perceptions and nightmare fuel....

Meanwhile, Cress would be rather miffed about Fennel doing the whole murder thing again, but there's always the question of 'is this worth bringing up knowing full well what Fennel has done before and could do again'

which reminds me, there's still a bit of a mystery with the RR as to where Aalija came from. Is he actually Grimsley's kid? Would that make him part Outsider or whole since Grimsley is a weird case himself after being "cursed"?

Like, at this point Fennel is that one dog that keeps tearing up the furniture and going through the trash and everyone puts up with her because she's absorbed so much Voice and Glitch energy that she is effectively immortal and nobody can ever really get rid of her so the best they can do is to try to keep her from wrecking shit

I don't doubt that. Though I laugh to imagine her saying okay... But it's just this one. The dude needed to be stopped and for how much shadow shit he's dealt with, he might be a corrupted human and could only taken out by one like herself. :Fufun:

Really, Zetsu's original ending for Fennel had her sealing herself away on the glitch abomination side of reality, but we all know that the Outsiders didn't stay on the outside again for long and neither did Fennel, so it makes sense she'd show up again
