Thinking of ponds and pools and aqua blue seas... . . . Rustic assemblage bracelet featuring lots of handmade and found object treasures from my travels. I particularly like the chonky ceramic turquoise bead made up of tiny cubes that was a lonely lost earring. Also you can find an antique carved hedaio seed bead, raku pottery bead, carved bone beads, multi-faceted labradorite bead, chonky glass cut bead, lava bead, amazonite and I've created a decorative bezel for the labradorite cabochon that glimmers all the water colours in the light. Years and years ago, as an art project, I started urban-combing, like beach-combing but on the streets around our neighbourhood. I’d then create pictures, shadow boxes and arrangements of my finds. It was quite a residential area with two schools so you always found lots of interesting lost objects and all sorts of colourful litter. We live in the countryside now. Today I had a flash back, when on our busy road with only one other house and no pavement, I found next to each other near the kerb - a tiny plastic dog and some wash care instructions written in Spanish. Sometimes I find the lost objects and occasionally they find me. This turquoise treasure charm pendant features steel chain gifted to me by a close friend, so it's a bit extra special. The pressed glass cabochon with recessed butterfly was originally a hanging brooch but the pin was broken, so I've sanded and smoothed the wires down to a wishbone shape. It has its original brass frame with rustic aged turquoise patina. Only a small portion of the paint was left on butterfly but enough for me to be able to restore it using alcohol pigment inks and iridescent acrylics. Also in this mixed media assemblage - upcycled flat link chain that I've adapted with Czech glass beads, weird vintage Nico Clacton key (an English company est. 1870 and still around today), my own handmade copper disc etchings, turquoise stone mosaic cabochon, metal detecting find ring, single rhinestone aurora flower clip on earring, abalone shell button and roman glass bead. Just listed - found treasures from the 1300’s to the 1800’s have been assembled alongside Roman glass beads and tiny iridescent opals to make rustic dangle earrings with a primitive vibe. I’ve arranged grungy and turquoise patina lost buckles, medieval hoops, button and a clock part found in the Notts/Leics/Lincs area together using sterling silver in a nod to bringing the end back to the beginning. It’s been a super day. The garden has been home to some of the most melodious black birds, sparrows, and robins and in the fields you can hear the song thrushes competing with one another.
