Pipe Foam Ball. This wave did all sorts of barrel a few seconds from now. #lovematuse I'll post the sequence when I have time. (at Banzai Pipeline)

This photo was actually taken midway through the wave. At Pipe it's barrelling HARD right out the gates, so you can make a super steep drop, then bottom turn hard and come right up to the top again, and almost drop in a second time (or go for an in-n-out or a lip spin / roll). This was taken at that 2nd drop in. This is by far the most chill spot to be in because the scary stuff is over. It's not UBER shallow here (still shallow) and the wave can get a little mushy here instead of an ultra barrel. Cooool as the other side of the pillow.

It is officially fall, yet it feels like summer is just showing up, super late to the party as always.

Back in June I decided I wanted a kick ass gift for my 35th birthday, so I decided to drop $100 on the new Matuse Inc., Chapter 1 2mm Jacket and boy let me say I’m totally glad I did.  This jacket, like all Matuse Inc., suits are made from geoprene instead of neoprene and without getting into much science I can tell you that the difference is awesome!!!

Geoprene material is made up of limestone rubber vs the traditional un-friendly, oil based neoprene material.  The Geoprene also has a more orderly cell structure than neoprene, helping keep you warmer in the water and out in the line up longer, and we all want that.  Check out their cool video here for all the science mumbo-jumbo.

Now the only thing to keep in mind when looking for your own geoprene is that these guys run a bit small, and snug.  Which when you’re in the water in perfect.  The tightness of the top adds to me being able to keep in the heat.  I bought an XS size and I’ll be honest, I paniced the first time I put it on out of the water.  It felt tight, super difficult to get on, but the more I wear it, the more it breaks into my body and becomes easier to wear.

I can’t wait to convert all my wetties to Matuse and I’d HIGHLY RECOMMEND any of the Matuse geoprene!!!
