LIFE AFTER GRADUATION

To whoever may read this,

Exhilarating.

That's what I felt after graduating college. It thrills me that I am now finally out of the zone I considered as a "hell hole" for many years of my life. Finally, I can say, I'll be independent. I can do whatever I want. I can go wherever I want to. But all these thoughts and excitement vanished into thin air when I realized, I got a responsibility as a youth leader.

You see, I am an SK Chairperson in our barangay. Prior to my graduation, I was already one and if you think that I could just junk it, resign, and go find a suitable job for me somewhere, no. It's not that easy. I ran for that position because I want to serve my fellow youth and to serve efficiently, I have to sacrifice some things and that includes the life I've always looked forward to after graduating.

My, it's not easy to deal with the questions and unknowing doubts of the surrounding people about the life I chose to live after college. I cannot blame them though. I am basically what they call "tambay" but I am not ashamed of that because of all the days I spend slouching at home, I am able to do and enjoy things others of my age cannot because of their jobs, and that is to relax.

To be honest, being a "tambay" makes me feel worthless at times. It makes me think that I'm so much behind with my batchmates and that while they are working tirelessly to achieve their goals, I'm just right here, either sitting, watching movies and animes, reading or writing, and sometimes just plainly doing nothing. But then, to keep myself going, I have to look at the positive side of things and that is what I am doing now. While I am at home, jobless, I work on things I know I can no longer have much time doing when I get a job of my own.

My life after college graduation is not something I've envisioned before but I am enjoying it. And if you are someone who's just like me now, do not feel so bad about yourself. Be thankful because no one knows, you might never get the chance to do these things again. Just trust the process.
