So, I'm always always happy to nerd out about snakeskins, and I love it so much, but.

I did not actually write it.

I shared my personal doc of it with the proposed ending after Sunny's blog was deleted but all that's in it is the fanfition.net version with some changed names for my own reading experience. Like I used Lukas Bondevik for Norway because sunny used that in the original version and I think I took the names for the siblings from the ao3 rewrite iirc because they're the correct Italian version.

Yeah that's in that, some blog posts of the now deleted @lsunnyc blog and an ao3 snippet I commissioned from sunny. But yeah I did not actually write it sorry for the misunderstanding 🙈. I tried to make it a bit clearer in the post!

Fanfic recs (and other things in general) that give you wanderlust that itches at your brain and wont go away?

Honestly, even focusing on fics only there are too many to count or describe. I'm going to list mostly unfinished/ ongoing/ older ones because I yearn for them deeply, and because I don't think they're as much in fandom consciousness anymore

For modern fics that I have definitely talked about before and scratch the deepest Hetalia itch:

Universal River by@needcake is a constant yearning, I can't lie to you

Danegeld Axe by @historia-vitae-magistras is something I think about a LOT

Can I stay for a Year or Two? by @sunnylolli is a fic that fills a void in my cold dead heart and I love it

Older fics I still think about on a regular basis are:

I'm currently pitching a proper novel to agents on Twitter, and drafting the sequel! I have finally (finally) made the jump to actually trying to get published.

Ohhhh, that's a very cool question! Ummm.... hmmm...

I really like cute notebooks, planners, scrapbooks, and calligraphy sets! I don't have a creative bone in my body when it comes to writing legibly, much less decorating planners or scrapbooking, but it seems like a good hobby!

Another a childish thing I like? I really like my happy stims! It's a sore point for me in real life, especially if other people are in the room when I stim, but I like flapping my arms or jumping up and down. The happy chemicals create more happy chemicals in an unstoppable feedback loop that has originated since childhood. :D

Ohhhh, puns! I like to grab seemingly random objects and making puns out of them!

I mean, with all of these questions... It seems like this is a quest ur on to know more details about me! ;)

27. What’s your favorite book? Or just one you’ve read a few times? 

Oh gosh, please don't be mad at me, it's been years since I've read a book that wasn't a reference text or a manual. Can fanfictions count? From my most recent memory, even though it's been a while since I've last read it (but I have read it upwards to 10+ times over the years)... Snakeskins by Lsunnyc.

I know you like worldbuilding and lore, guess what that fanfic is composed of! (It's also one of my main inspirations to how I write nowadays. I really look up to that author and you should check them out and their ao3 if you're interested!). It's a Hetalia/Harry Potter crossover fanfic and it's... very long, but hey. It's really well written.

But an actual book? Gosh... No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai? That's one of the last few books I remember reading and that was definitely a trip. I related to the main character a bit too much and the subject matter, trajectory of the character... It really hits and there's a reason why the book has the reputation it has.

Why writing? What inspires you/ got you into it in the first place?

Okies, so I know in the past I think I admitted to having started posting fic in 2012 and my first fandom was for Tokyo Mew Mew. However! My first ever fanfic was for Sharkboy and Lavagirl and it was written on yellow legal pad and will never see the light of day ahaha!

The reason I bring that up is because when I was younger and school would let out for the summer, our class would have this ritual of throwing away our tattered old notebooks that we weren't planning on using for the next school year into the recycled bins. However, before I left for home, I would take all of the notebooks that had been dropped into the recycle bins, take them home, rip out the old notes and doodles, and then keep them over the summer.

So that I can write in them.

I started in fifth grade when I realized that it would be a waste just to let those notebooks be recycled when there were some that had tons of clean pages??? In them??? That's why I saved those poor notebooks.

The thing was, I didn't realize that I had like half a dozen or so notebooks that had clean pages that I realized... I could do things with the notebooks. So, over the course of the summers from 5-7 grade, I would write short stories (seriously, short as in like one paragraph long onto a single page and call it a day). It wasn't until the summer of 7th grade that I realized... wait, why write stories only in the summer? Why not write during the whole year instead?

At that point, I amassed a lot of notebooks and scraps of papers filled with stories. Somewhere along the way, I shifted from purely original fiction to fanfiction because it was through my first official fandom (Tokyo Mew Mew) that I realized fanfiction was a thing.

I totally thought, upon reading my first fanfic in ye old ffnet, that it was actually canon material until I checked the comments and other stories. And thus, my eyes were opened.

So yeah, come eighth grade and beyond, I began writing more fanfics in my free time and eventually, in high school, I began bringing my fanfic notebook into class so that I could work on them during breaks.

I think what really inspires me to write would be because... there are entire swathes of the story, of the behind scenes, that we never get to see in canon. You can infer a lot from subtext or hints dropped from characters alluding to events, character perceptions, etc. but there's a difference from accepting the subtext or canon as it is and... Taking what you know and then adding depth to it and transforming it into something new.

I don't know... breathing life into characters who already has an established character is so exhilarating to me! There are people out there who roll their eyes at fanfic, but like??? Writing a character and making them stay in character while also transforming them in the process??? It's creation in one of its more pure forms while also paying homage to the original creator.

There's a quote somewhere... maybe on tumblr? and this person said that writing fanfic or any sort of transformative work is like playing with the sandbox that the original creator has left behind. That's what I'm doing, I'm playing in a sandbox.

And I'm having a lot of fun with it! :D

Pfffttt hahhaha! You do realize we met and talked about the legendary Sunruner (lsunnyc), writer of Snakeskins? The writer for the beautiful, spectacular, and amazing story that is the best written and characterized Hetalia and Harry Potter crossover fic the world has ever seen?

(I’m not kidding, that fic still had a chokehold on me and I’m crossing my fingers hoping that we get to see it finished, but I know the likelihood is very very very very slim at this point, especially with a certain IRL author in question)

Other than that, my interests always vacillate and waver between fandoms and their respective writers/fics. I really can’t pick and choose because most pale in comparison.

It’s because of Snakeskins that I am writing my own little fanfic epic.

Growing up and realizing that life isn’t a race. It’s weird to me that I’m an adult and have been for a while. The world seems simultaneously bigger and smaller than when I was a kid. I want to get my own place, be my own person, live life on my own terms. Unfortunately, my job doesn’t pay much, I’m still treated like a child by family, and I don’t know where to start to get things rolling in motion. The most that I can do is tackle one day at a time and collect all the pieces to a puzzle that will hopefully become the life I want to have in the next few years.

Inspired by lsunnyc's absolutely outstanding continuation to HetaOni (Final Loop and Recovery) and finaloop's categorizations for FLR's core ideas.

This is primarily an homage to Sunny's and Tomoyoshi's work. More than only lyrics, I feel like these songs evoke, for me, certain vibes for FLR's specific versions of the characters. While there's certainly a chronological structure through this playlist that does follow FLR's narrative, there's also the intent of calling up the general atmosphere of each phase. I would propose that, while their parents certainly told them which was older, Louisoux was forever changing his mind for the hell of it. From a young age he flip-flopped constantly and now, at 21 years old, they don’t actually know if they believe their parents or not

Ugh, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m beginning to understand the writers’ choice for that ending, I think they foreshadowed it quite a bit, now that I’m doing the rewatch. I still don’t agree that she had to die- they should have just done the “fake death” ending like in the novel, even if they left it open ended whether they would reconcile or not.

What do you think of the relationship between Italy and Romano? And what about their relationship with grandpa Rome?

These are two big questions for characters I really don't spend much time thinking about :')

I haven't got any thoughts concerning the Italys and their relationship with each other. I remember, way back when, that LSunnyC had some great Italy characterisations in their Snakeskins fic (a holy grail of fanfiction in my opinion, if you've not read it, though an incomplete monster boi), whereby they incorporated the differences of North and South, how this affects their relationship and personalities and governs them going forwards. It honestly opened me up to the characters and I won't be able to add much, other than these points:

I think North Italy is a very charismatic, very charming, and very polite man, whilst similarly running political circles around his neighbours. People forget, or don't know, the power and influence North Italy and Venice have had in Europe in the past centuries, and this man is no goofball simpleton. Can be very dangerous and cunning, loves sly poisons and the elegance of a good show

South Italy is rough and blunt and abrasive, but he's also not socially charming and suave. He is not this way intentionally, only that he cannot be anything but. He is jealous of the social skill his brother has but is also less ruthless and more upfrontly honest. He counts on his word and holds it in higher value far more than North Italy does. Hard on himself for lacking in areas he doesn't need

South Italy is very hard working about the things he cares about, whereas North Italy can be hard working to put on a show/ for a reason only to drop it once it's use is over

With their grandfather, I have thought about this even less. They were very young when he died and I think he was their father (in as much as nations can have) but just very old and near the end of his time when they appeared. They were his final death knell, the undeniable truth of his end, and I think this humbled him as much as devastated him. He was done, his last fight and gasp of life over, and these were who would come next. But oh God, he would not be forgotten

With all the littering and influence of small nations that Rome had done and created, it was a relief to have there in his arms an indication of a direct evolution and survival of what he'd worked for within his own lands. The moving of the empire's capital to Constantinople, the fracturing and the over extension of himself an his resources, and the constant invasions from several different groups, still there he saw his own features in two small boys born from the same lands that created him

He left them few memories, but the ones he did leave them with were the most human of all Rome had left his other colonies/ descendants
