Hey DT, I was rereading Geometric Sequence and it mentions that Synnove has had her grimoire slagged repeatedly. When she has to write a new one does she just rewrite the previous arrays as they were or does she take it as an opportunity to make adjustments?

So first and foremost: I am so sorry it took me this long to answer, I had started and then saved as draft and I have the object permanence of a four-month old.

ANYWAY.

So honestly the answer to this is: it depends! She's done both; post-Praetorium, she just rewrote the arrays exactly as she had literally just finished a series of upgrades before Operation Archon began, whereas, say, post-Rhalgr's Reach, she used her recovery time and the journey to Othard to make adjustments to her spell repertoire and the carbuncles' arrays. In instances of the former, it's tedious but also rather soothing because Synnove's got a photographic memory for these kinds of things and it's basically a way to meditate, redrawing familiar sigils and arrays.

I have also toyed with the idea of Synnove having a "master" grimoire where the Primary Coding for the carbuncles' arrays is recorded and is stored under lock and key at Mealvaan's Gate with an aetheric link between it and the carbuncles' summoning foci, but I don't wholly like it so it just kind of floats around in my head and butts up against things at random.

There are so many aspects that Shio looks forward to.

She's always happy to see her family again - particularly Bunchin, who she calls Grandfather, and Soroban and Kabuto, who she calls brothers. She looks forward to asking Bunchin for advice on whatever is going on in her life, as well as asking Kabuto how business is going, asking Soroban how things are going with the Auspices, and so on.

Secondarily, she enjoys the low-stakes nature of going home. Here, she's not a Warrior of Light, not an eikon-slayer. She's just another Kojin. The shadow of her fame does not follow her here.

Thirdly, she enjoys the weather - the Ruby Sea does not get too hot, and it does not get too bright. There is no chance of her getting unwell in the weather of the Sea.

And finally, she enjoys the fact that the Kojin have alcohol that actually has some bite to it - an extreme rarity in nearly every other place she's been.

Mounting Curiosity.

What mount does your WoL (or other OC) favour? Why do they have a connection to this mount? Is it particularly grand? Or impressive?

Does it communicate something about their personality? Or their role in society? Perhaps they chose it in order to be intimidating? Or disarming? Or merely practical?

Mimble has a number of mounts, but his favourite is definitely his giant porxie. Largely because it's quite endearing and he rather enjoys whizzing around his more serious companions, with their grand chocobos and horses, on his flying magical porxie. However, he does also use it to assist with curing tempering and occasionally giving rides to children.

The paper-ish texture of the card is from google image search somewhere, but the rest is something I spent a few hours on, haha.

It’s a bit awkward to easily template-ify I think because there’s a part that goes on top of the portrait, and I don’t think I can just post the source .psp file, or a .psd conversion of it, but provided tumblr is nice enough to the images, maybe .pngs in parts?

“current” in the sense that i have these currently assigned to my glamor plates, not in that they’re considered canon looks. i have a wealth of tank glamors.

So I have three caster glamours for Synnove~

First is the “canon” one: this is what I’m running around in game on the vast majority of the time when I’m doing PF farms or just chilling. It might be the canon Endwalker glam, but I am as yet unsure; I haven’t really found a glamour that’s “clicked” for me the same way Synnove’s ShB look did. As a note, I don’t play RDM or BLM, and neither class is canon for Synnove, so I don’t bother to keep separate glamours for them. My glamour plates are at a premium (and primarily dedicated to crafting glams).

Second glamour is Bozja farming glamour: CLL farming, Dal farming, mettle farming, DRS runs. This is technically it’s own gearset entirely, as that is a full Augmented Law’s Order casting set, and I deliberately make sure it never matches the canon glam so that I can immediately tell I need to equip my haste gear. (Full haste gear + Lost Chainspell = ten or eleven wyrmwaves in one Demi-Bahamut window and me cackling like a lunatic.) As haste is useless outside Bozja, this look is not canon...also because I still can’t decide if I like that top or not. Might cycle in the Hannish top instead one of these days.

And then of course, BLU. I genuinely love BLU. It is absolutely not canon for Synnove. I don’t care, soloing a 70 dungeon is a power trip I never get tired of. Yes, getting it to level 70 was pain and agony, but look at that AF! (Hat, top, and pants are dyed dragoon blue for extra oomph of blue.) I earned that AF. (And Predatrice. Need to work on getting my last fourteen BLU spells so I can get the Pure Azure feat and Friar Rush.) Also single best /bstance and /vpose in the game.

And you get bonus smirky Synnove because I’m viscerally attracted to my own characters and so should you. :D

I got the chorus from Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker” stuck in my head making these. Appropriate.

Rereha basically lives off the interest from her trust fund, which is...considerable. Her personal expenditures are basically clothes (she is a massive clotheshorse, but also frequently does clean outs of her closet to donate what she hasn’t worn in a couple of seasons) and repairs and upkeep on her musical instruments; everything else she funnels into various charitable funds across Eorzea.

But good lord, the clothes. Even before she was a Warrior of Light, as the daughter of two prominent business magnates and genius crafters (her mother has a friendly rivalry with Lord Godbert, and her father turned down leadership of the Alchemists’ Guild due to conflicts of interest as a private business owner), she was a well-known socialite in Ul’dah, and she didn’t follow trends, she set them. She favors bright colors, daring cuts, and tasteful provocation, and she’s patron of a number of dressmakers, tailors, and cobblers throughout the city. (No goldsmiths of course; the only jewelry she wears comes from the workshop of her mother and her apprentices. Lady Shushuha prefers classic looks, but such pieces pair with and contrast nicely with the bold designs of Rereha’s clothing.)

This look, of course, was put together with crime, because I still haven’t taken the rest of the Squad through Shadowbringers. I should...fix that. Eventually.

Friend, I absolutely don’t mind doing multiple, but to ease up on clutter I’m going to separate your ask into multiple posts, especially because each of my gals deserves some spotlight time!

Thus: Heron first! *WILL SMITH POSES*

Heron is an imminently practical woman, and while fond of style, places it secondary to protection. She will wear full plate on occasion, but prefers a mix of plate and leather to help her retain speed; she is seven feet four inches tall and she is frighteningly fast. ICly Heron also does wear a helm (it’s saved her life a great many times), but I toggle it off because have you seen this woman’s face. Synnove is my main and I write nearly all my fic about her and I love her dearly, but Dancing Heron is the most goddamn gorgeous character I have ever created in any game generator ever.

Also I literally did not get the Alliance fending top on her until last fucking night but this has been her planned ShB glam since ShB dropped and I am not going into Ghimlyt again unless I am paid.

Alakhai is a simple woman at heart. She likes knives. She likes knives a lot.

Flashy knives are for people who don’t know what the fuck they’re doing. All you need is a straight blade and some knowledge of anatomy and you’re reading to go to work. Keep some specialty blades on hand just in case--thin stilettos to slide between ribs, a little boot knife good for shucking oysters or plucking out an eye, a good sharp combat knife for general fighting or cutting rope or slitting a throat, throwing knives for obvious reasons--but sturdy steel is all you need most of the time.

...Yes she bullied Synnove into installing a worrying amount of void storage metafolds into her pockets to stash more knives, why do you ask?
