Escapism [Lucy Kushinada x Reader]

CW: No spoilers and no definitive time in the Cyberpunk-verse where this takes place, just fluff and post-snu scene with one of our favourite Netrunenrs.

The skyline itself emanated enough light to flood the interior of Lucy’s studio apartment. Electric signages and strobe lights kept the city fluorescent and lively even at three in the morning.

Your body sought warmth from the comfort of Lucy as you placed your cheek against her bare shoulder. The smell of cigarettes and sex lingered in the air. A soft reminder of the long hours the two of you had spent together.

“You’re tense, and you’re doing that pensive eyes bullshit again.”

“It’s called being lost in thought. Ever tried it or is your brain too busy jumping from one idea to another?”

You giggled at the way she scoffed. “You know I’ve got a busy mind. Can’t dwell too long on the uncertainties out of my control.”

“Control, huh?” Lucy murmured, turning around to pull you both onto the couch. “Speaking of, you gave up too easily tonight.”

Sighing into her neck, you shrugged. “It’s nice to be the pillow princess sometimes…”

“Was it not enough, my dear?”

Lucy tucked her colourful hair behind her ear, taking another drag from her cigarette as her pale purple eyes gauged your reaction from the reflection in the window.

You pulled away, finding a seat along the glass with a shrug. “I mean… the night is still young.”

The cigarettes stops a few inches short of her lips, eyes wide before she bursts into laughters. “You sound like Maine when he talks to Dorio.”

“If it works, then I gotta try,” you plucked the thin stick from her fingers, taking a long drag from it. A moment of silence passes as she watched you, finding a seat near your feet. “If you’re tired, maybe you can show me the moon again?”

Lucy stopped to think, eyes searching her room for the BD cartridge in her room. Her room was a bit of a mess. Clothes found purchase on odd surfaces, old beer cans stacked haphazardly around on her window seat and similar flat surfaces. With a huff, she puts out her cigarette and nudges some things around.

“You’d never lose your stuff if you just cleaned up a bit y’know?”

“Don’t nag me, [Y/N].”

Shrugging, you left the window to grab a bottle of water from her fridge, leaving her to her own devices. The rummaging ceased and when you turned around, Lucy was already waiting on the unkempt bedding. She fiddled with the familiar cartridge between her fingers, a coy smile on her lips.

“Would you care to take a trip into space with me, my dear?”

“Escaping the ruins of Night City? Why yes, yes I would.”
