Eyes darting around, Prompto was sure he looked like he expected something or someone to jump out at him at any moment with how nervous he was. But, hey, what else was new? As far as he was concerned, this was on par for the course of his life. Licking his lips for what was probably the fiftieth time in only a few minutes, Prompto took a deep breath.

“So, um, there’s this thing, right? And, apparently, it’s something we’re supposed to bring someone with us to, y'know. So there’s the problem of me knowing like, three whole people who are already going, and two of them already decided to go together to handle that whole mess, and Noct can’t really count there ‘cause he’s well, Noct, the prince and all. So, that leaves me with no one to bring with me, which is why I’m here ‘cause I kinda don’t know anyone else I can ask. Could you maybe be my date thing for it? I mean, I totally get it if you don’t wanna, but I figured I would at least try 'cause, yeah…”

Maybe he should have taken another breath somewhere in there to keep it from running together, but there was no stopping or he wouldn’t start again. He could only hope Nyx understood it because there was no way he was repeating any part of it. It was hard enough the first time.

The new glaive cadet couldn’t believe his eyes. This was Nyx Ulric, THE Nyx Ulric; aka the hero of the glaive. He’d only ever heard rumors of this man. Seeing him in person had him almost nervous and so he tried to focus and not make a bad first impression. With a deep breath he calmed his nerves and went over to him, a controlled smile on his face.

“It’s an honor to meet you sir!”

Grabs his face in the middle of Prompto's long winded explanation about something and just kisses him.

The words that just hadn’t stopped flowing suddenly stop as lips press to his own. Prompto can’t help but melt into the kiss. Whatever he was saying before can wait. An extra peck is stolen before pulling away completely, smile stretched wide. “Is that your way of telling me that your done with your lesson on mise-en-scène?”

He can hardly fault Nyx for the interruption considering how prone he is to go on and on and on, especially when it’s something he knows quite a bit about. However, it’s probably not the most welcome thing when a movie is on and his explanation lasts through several scenes. 

Resting his head on Nyx’s shoulder, Prompto lifts a finger to his lips and whispers, “I’ll keep quiet now so we can actually watch. Promise.” It’s a promise he’s unlikely to keep.

Nyx felt a soft tug at his uniform as he stood guard. It ripped him from his concentration as he turned to face the being who the hand had belonged to. When blue eyes fell on Lady Lunafreya, his brow knit slightly.

“Can I…help you, Princess? Is everything alright?”

❀ At the presence of his attention, the oracle removed her hand from his uniform shyly. It wasn’t the best of times to bother him, and she couldn’t help but feel slightly guilty while he was trying to work. However, she also deeply wanted to simply talk to him.

        “I apologize to bother you like this..”

Lunafreya felt herself at a loss for words, not quite having a reason to come out. Nyx was certainly someone who was closer to her, and she didn’t have many people that she knew this closely. Noct was often busy, as well as his friends. Excluding Prompto, with whom she hung out with at times. Gentiana was hardly around at all either. She moved to lean against the wall that they stood next to and looked ahead of them, crossing her arms in front of her in her lap. 

        “Everything is fine. I just thought it might be nice to come talk to you while you guard. If you wouldn’t mind, that is.”

They’ve been training for hours, both of them exhausted and finally having a seat in the training hall. It’s still hot but the breeze fluttering through cools sweat soaked skin. The sun is setting and the sky is pink, setting an orange-pink haze settling over the stone walls. Nyx finishes the bottle and passes it back to Ignis, who is still wiping the blood from his shin as the other waits for him. They are just going to relax for that time, catch their breath before they make their way to one of their homes to have a quiet drink and dinner. But it doesn’t get that far, in fact as Ignis takes the bottle and finishes what Nyx has left him he feels the man’s shoulder on his, then his cheek on the top of his head and breath heating his scalp and whisping through his hair. He smiles and shifts slightly to try and see if the man is joking but he can hear Nyx sleeping, his breath is slow and he’s finally give in. Ignis gently shifted, slowly letting the exhausted KingsGlaive rest his head on his lap and nap there; they can always leave and continue their evening after a nap....
