[𝗠𝗮𝗰'𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 - 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗩𝗜𝗜] After my bicycle ride across the Outback (and learning how to package a bicycle for shipment on a plane), I made a trip to Brazil for the 2016 Olympics. I spent a year studying in Rio de Janeiro in 2011, and this was my first trip back since first falling in love with the country.⁣ ⁣ Pre-PCT me (the version of me who lived in Brazil for a year) wasn't much interested in hiking or the outdoors, and so my second time in the country gave me an entirely new side of things to explore. There are some incredible hikes in the city of Rio de Janeiro and some great multi-day trips within a few hours bus ride.⁣ ⁣ The next step is to climb all of the large granite monoliths strewn about the city, which is what I had been intending to before the COVID-19 era came about. Plans are canceled for now, but I hope to make it back to my second home once the world stops ending and things return to near-normalish levels.⁣ ⁣ And to my Brazilian friends, all I have to say is that estou morrendo de saudades, meru amigos lindos. Espero que não tenha que ficar muito mais tempo longe de vocês. Beijos <3

Hello friends! This is just an introductory bit to say that I appreciate you all and that if you've never been to Brazil, you should move it high up on your list of places to visit - it's amazing.⁣ ⁣ E agora, a coisa mais importante. Oi, meus amigos queridos brasileiros, tenho que dizer algumas coisas para vocês. Primiero, vocês têm que me ajudar com o meu português porque não estou conseguindo treinar muito. Segundo, (vocês falam "segundo" assim em português? Igual eu falaria "second" em inglês?), estou com muita saudade de vocês e do meu segundo lar (o Brasil). Terceiro, (mesma pergunta do segundo), estou voltando pro Brasil e estarei chegando no Rio de Janeiro dia 14 de março.⁣ ⁣ Estarei no Rio, principalmente, e estou querendo ir para Minas (Milho Verde) para escalar também. Todo mundo está convidado. Gostaria de ver todos vocês quando eu chegar e quero que vocês saibam que, se você está conseguindo ler esse post agora, eu te amo.⁣ ⁣ Estarei no Brasil pelo menos seis semanas e o meu plano (pelo menos agora) e ir pro Peru depois para fazer algumas trilhas.
