And a lot more importantly, the fact that these enemies (which were cut from the final game) have Sanford’s double helix tattoo as a design on the back of their shirts?

Hear me out here, we already have Deimos near certainly being an A.A.H.W. dissenter like 2bdamned. I’m wondering how within the realm of possibility it is that Sanford himself might actually be ex-MERC.

And I’m really liking how much sense it starts to make the longer I think about it. The rowdy, brash attitude of MERC forces… the fact that you fight a ton of them who were working in a facility that processes and manufactures explosives, and Sanford’s special skill explored in the game was demolitions,

Just something I’m gonna be chewing over until I get some evidence to the contrary.

i don't talk about it nearly as much as i should (and i don't remember if ive already made a post shaped like this before) honestly but crackpot & sheriff being friends is like. SO fucking important to my interpretation of madcom. yes i know they've never actually spoken no i don't care

from one of the background element posters we can deduce that nexus core officials weren't really supposed to be interacting with other factions, like MERC or the agency- y'know, both of which sheriff belongs to (depending on which point in the timeline you're looking at)

but at the same time it seems like the head scientists had comparatively more leeway for skirting the rules, simply because phobos doesn't care enough to discipline them about it. since cpot is a kissup however it would've kind of been like a forbidden romeo-and-juliet thing that is literally ONLY that serious to hymn. i don't even know if sheriff would've cared about it conceptually as much bc i don't think auditor cares that much who he fraternizes with while he's in nexus city

anyhow that aside they're both weird measly little shrimps that desperately want to think theyre hot shit but are widely disliked and disrespected within their faction, despite their position of power & proximity to their boss/leader. so they already have that much common ground to stand on, and then after the fall of nexus you get to play with the utter DRAMA of sheriff taking jeb's advice when crackpot ABSOLUTELY FUCKING HATES THAT GUY!!!!!

it would've damaged their relationship a lot i think, but not irreparably- they go on for a while kind of unaware of the other's continued existence within the city at this point, because they both have factions to run and bigger things to worry about. sheriff thinks crackpot maybe died, crackpot thinks he's a filthy TRAITOR, yadda yadda.

but then at the end of madness project nexus, during the credits we get to see something fairly important- the fractured factions of nexus city seem to have rebounded from status quo's mess and some of them even seem to be realigning w/ eachother!!

gil, aligned with MERC (as burger gils' is owned by them) is shown w/ the fanatics, and survivor bandits r seen utilizing gil's kitchen

(as a side note, this video is slightly outdated but gil's outfit was changed at some point to reflect that he's been abducted into the fanatics' faction- the updated version is here at 35:58)

this would be the perfect opportunity for sheriff & crackpot to reconnect and rekindle!!! they can bond over both getting fucked over by jeb, and aligning with the fanatics would be super advantageous to MERC, given the zed problem in the city- the zeds don't attack the fanatics!! it would save them a shitton of resources and ammo if they weren't worried about sniping those guys 24/7!!!

idk. they mean a lot to me. they're best estranged buds and in my mind theyre living life to the fullest completely removed from the main plot right now. i hope you get the vision ask me questions if you dont i will smile so big

Sure thing!

I introduce:

Madness combat lore explained by a dumbass who doesn't actually know the lore!!

Who also doesn't know how to explain shit!

From what I understood:

Project Nexus is given to Phobos by the Employers who are god-like being and "guardians" of Nevada

3 important scientists by the names of Dr Jebediah Christoff , Dr Hofnarr and Dr Crackpot work for him

Crackpot introduces the zed plan (which is basically reviving someone who died by giving a S-3LF, that are madcom version of souls, to a corpse turning them to zombies)

Christoff dislikes the idea so he suggests a different plan the sleepwalker program

Phobos agrees to the idea but doesn't take down the zed plan

PN: Classic arena mode happens where Subject 1v02P 6 is made to go through a time loop of fighting and dying to improve his combat skills which would be later used for the sleepwalker program

During that I think they also discovered the other place (which is basically the afterlife/hell) somehow? I don't remember how bro

Hofnarr was made to investigate the other place and he discovered dissonance energy

Hofnarr and Crackpot smoked dissonance energy like it was weed and that begun to fuck up their sanities, which is important later

Sometime after that Christoff realises how messed up this shit really is so he decides to put end to it. He takes the Keystone Fragment (the halo)

With the help of Hofnarr and Sheriff he takes down Phobos and project nexus daming nexus city in the process

Hofnarr fucking loses it and becomes Tricky some time after that

Then the events of the series begin and Hank becomes a problem

The AAHW either already existed and was changed to the AAHW or was formed after Hank became a problem idk, it is lead by the Auditor who's one of the employers

Eh Sheriff who lead over the AAHW temporary activates the improbability drive and fucking dies lol

Then everything goes to hell, basically

And uh oh turns out some scientists and agents from project nexus had survived and they try to restart the Project

One of them being Crackpot who fled after the city fall and started a clut

And it also turns out Phobos had a backup plan to dying: Project Gestalt which is basically he used Gestalt as a vessel to absorb S-3LFs to reach godhood

So eh Christoff teams up with Hank, Sanford and Deimos to stop Phobos, again.

Oh and it turns out Sheriff was somehow revived and now leads a faction called MERC cool

Anyway the events of the game happen I'm lazy to explain it watch a play through

Yippe they defeat Phobos!! Whoooo! Not so yippe Hank decides to fucking betray them and try to kill San and Dei. It's okay tho they kill them, and Doc probably revived them after

And then the events of the series continue

I'm not sure when exactly MPN:2 takes place but If I had to guess I'd say sometime between MC:7 and MC:8 because my instinct tells me that

SO! I'm glad you asked! I'm a bit of a perfectionist so sadly I don't have something I drew that I like enough to show yet, but I can give the current lore summary instead to make up for it!

The Whole Gang

Douglas, Duffus, and Duncan. Much of what they do is really jokey, but in regards to the entire AU, it isn't supposed to overshadow the overarching theme of the story. It follows these bandits in their struggle for survival as they become pawns for a bigger story behind the scenes, their lives rewritten and their fate manipulated on the fly by an outside power.

Douglas

The eldest and shortest of the group, Douglas used to be much like the average cannibalistic and violent bandit living in the Outskirts -- that was, until, he met Duffus. Since then, Douglas changed his lifestyle drastically, retiring to a more peaceful way of life with Duffus in the Hovel far from where many other bandits live. He's still rather eccentric, but he's grown much more friendly and even dropped his cannibalistic diet to make Duffus happy. He trusts Duffus with his life and quite literally has several times before

Douglas often gets ahead of himself and drones on and on when retelling any story on his mind, which usually annoys everyone but Duffus. He gets lost in thought, often relying on Duffus to help him. Despite this, he's still intelligent, as he's able to navigate through tough situations if age or madness doesn't catch him first. He just wants to spend the rest of his life peacefully with his only companion in these wastes, as he's given up on a better future long ago. He's content with what he has.

Duffus

Though Duffus is a G03LM bandit by affiliation, he's not a bandit brute. Unlike them, Duffus has maintained his friendly and polite demeanor even after everything life throws at him. Duffus was a servant in Nexus City before the outbreak, serving as a butler for his abusive masters. As such, zeds were the least of their problems when much of the masters' fleet of G03LMs revolted against them to take advantage of the chaos. Duffus, however, was unable to bring himself to join their revolt, and as such, Duffus was persistently bullied by the G03LM survivors even when years had passed and they had evolved into bandit brutes.

Douglas would find his battered corpse deep in the city during one of his rare supply runs, and he would go on to resuscitate him. Since then, Duffus has become Douglas' shadow, following him wherever he goes and ensuring his safety. Duffus didn't immediately become loyal to him the moment he was brought back from death, rather, their current relationship was a result of years of trust built over time and their strong bond shows it. Duffus doesn't speak often and usually tries to blend in with the background, an unusually stealthy skill he gained over years of solitude. By the time you hear him, it's too late.

Duncan

The newest addition to the bandit group is Duncan, a survivor who spent almost his entire life within the confines of the residential sector. Duncan is taller and much younger than Douglas (though Duffus beats him out on both). Duncan is a motorhead, having spent many years before and after the outbreak obtaining a motorcycle and repairing it with the hope that he could ride out far away one day and get the freedom he so craves. In the present day, he's finally ready to head out, but after an encounter with the MERC on the way out of the city, he escaped with his life at the cost of totally trashing his bike, forcing him to seek refuge with the bandit pair in the Hovel.

Unlike most survivors, who preferred to live up high and away from the dangers below, Duncan spent most of his time down there with the zeds and other threats using his street smarts to make it out alive. His method of survival involves being hard-headed and selfish, threatening and intimidating others to get what he needs, which unfortunately ends up seeping into his relationship with the Hovel bandits he met. They often clash especially since Duncan doesn't want to stay with them longer than he needs to, leading to him often stranding the duo in danger. Still, Duncan is the most experienced in combat of the three, giving the trio a much-needed man skilled with firearms. And, sometimes, just sometimes, he allows himself to be vulnerable and humble for once.

Mr. M

Mr. M is an enigmatic figure who pops up from time to time in their story. He's seemingly nothing more than a sentient zed merchant (though that in itself is still strange), but over time, the bandit trio learns more about the true nature of Mr. M as he's shown to potentially be a higher power of sorts, though his true identity is ambiguous. He starts as a source of rare goodies for the trio so as long as they accept to run his "errands". Eventually, these contracts mutate into something that the trio is unable to decline as they're forced to commit to more dangerous missions and learn more things they were never supposed to know. Mr. M is deeply knowledgeable about the hidden mechanics of Nevada, and he uses that to his advantage as his manipulations of reality begin to upset certain parties...

And yeah, that's it so far! A lot of this is still early in writing and design so don't be surprised if something changes, but this is the gist of it! ^_^

Hey Madcom Tumblr, I'm looking for a fanfic I cant find anywhere. It took place after M:PN 2 where Hank is dead, Deimos is freaking the fuck out cuz when Hank comes back he is going to be pissed. Sanford is trying to help, but fails.

Sanford goes back to Doc and Status Quo, while Deimos joins Merc. Meanwhile Hank is made an employer by The Auditor and goes Apeshit.

I cannot find this fic, and I was wondering of anyone else knew anything. If it was taken down, that's cool. If its out there and discontinued also cool. I just wanna know.
