Week 5: Conjuration - Tidal Wave

For week 5, I decided to draw Lohse from Divinity: Original Sin 2

In my game, Lohse was the elemental powerhouse that decimated our enemies with hellfire, lightning, and ice storms. So naturally, when I saw this spell in the conjuration table, I knew I had to draw her! Lohse's so sweet, and her story was lots of fun to watch unfold. She is absolutely wonderful and deserves the world. I loved that she got to have a badass lute solo standing over Adramahlihk's corpse!

Week 3: Divination - Legend Lore

For divination week, I drew my seer, Briar! Since magic items normally come with cards describing what the object does, I thought it'd be fun to flavour the "give me this thing's lore" spell as picking cards. My dear Briar is a mage with a card deck arcane focus so everything lined up perfectly! And even though the cards took a while to make, it was still a ton of fun to draw ❤ ❤ ❤

Week 7: Necromancy - Abi-Dalzim’s Horrid Wilting

For week 7, here's Ori!

Here I continue the trend of designing Ori a new outfit every time I draw her. This school of magic was tricky, and I wasn't even sure what spell I wanted to draw for the longest time. Went from vampiric touch to ray of sickness to danse macabre to this. The problem was that I wanted something red and something that didn't require me to draw a bunch of figures so it'd be simple-- looks like I got only the red part because this definitely wasn't simple XD

I can't believe I'm almost done with these! Only one left! I hope you guys love these as much as I love drawing them!

Week 8: Transmutation - Prestidigitation

This last image took me a while to do because I scrapped my original idea after already working on it for a week. And I'm glad I did! Because I love the look of this one way more!

From the start of this art adventure, I knew I wanted to draw Volo at some point and since I ended up drawing the schools out of their planned order, I guess I saved the best for last. I absolutely adore his portrayal in Baldur's Gate 3 and having Volo in my camp is simply a delight! It's too bad he doesn't have a bigger story, but getting to hear him greet me so cheerily every time always puts a smile on my face.

There aren't a lot of transmutation options for a level 1 wizard. Fortunately he has prestidigitation! Here Volo is using that show magic to add some flare to his retelling of the attack on the Emerald Grove—that moment when the goblins showed up flying banners of the Absolute and leading a massive dragon! There were flames and blood and hordes of enemies...That's how it went down, right?

Week 6: Abjuration - Magic Circle

For week 6, I drew my OC, Cyrus!

This is probably the most complicated piece I've done for this challenge (both in terms of character design and the number of pieces for the effects), but I love how it came out! The barrier was the toughest part and I probably redrew it a dozen times because I couldn't decide how I wanted it to look. Here I was trying to capture the wall being formed; I like to think the circle rotates and grows bigger as the cylinder reaches its full height. Sometimes it feels like abjuration gets overlooked because it's not the damage-dealing school, but I think its got some pretty awesome spells!

Week 4: Enchantment - Tasha's Hideous Laughter

I LIVE! I've been away for a while helping my partner move, but I'm back now and I'm finishing this little challenge of mine even if it's the last thing I do >:U

For week 4, I drew my boi, Venali! Tasha's Hideous Laughter is a fun spell to have (as long as you have a little luck and a high spell save) and I've always imagined it as a sort of pulsing wave. Even though green is more Venali's colour, enchantment just feels pink to me. I think it worked out in the end though! I hope you enjoy this extra magenta piece of your day ❤

Week 2: Illusion - Invisibility

I had a hard time picking what spell I wanted to draw but ended up settling on my little goblin running through the streets with a bag of stolen silverware. Sure it might take forever to get all that flour off and the cook isn't too happy about all this, but Cheri's quite pleased with her haul of metal (until she learns that silverware isn't always made of silver that is).

My 2023 art summary! These were the faves of each month!

These last few months have been very colourful! Magetober was too powerful lol

I didn't draw a ton in the first half of the year, then art fight happened, then I went into hibernation in August XD

Still really love how that sketch for May turned out and July's is probably my favourite of the middle group. I remember the piece in april made me so sad for a while because I couldn't for the life of me understand why it looked so off while I was working on it But yeh, many humanoids this year! I'm very happy with my progress and I think I've learned a lot
