Hey there! So in 2x12, Kara firmly believed that Lena didn't steal Kryptonite to help Lillian and prolly thought she didn't have any. In S3, it seemed as if Kara did a 180, and stopped trusting Lena for a second after finding out she held Kryptonite. But what if that's partly why Kara got upset? Because wow, suddenly it turns out that not only did her best friend keep a secret stash of her brother's Kryptonite, but she also knows how to make them. This almost sends like a slap to Kara's face?

Yup, this is exactly why Kara got so upset. Kara trusted Lena against everyone else’s better judgment when the consequences of being wrong would’ve been a mass alien genocide by Medusa virus. And now it’s a year later and here’s Lena messing around with a deadly substance that can cause another alien genocide! With a substance that is specifically toxic to Kara! With a substance that Lena’s mom and Lena’s brother have repeatedly tried to use to kill Kara! And then Lena lies to her face about what she did!

Kara’s reaction, on the surface, was about the kryptonite itself, but the actual issue is much a much deeper violation of trust. Like. She showed up at L-Corp to help Lena, only to discover Sam in a dungeon experiment cage with this shit mainlining into her bloodstream. Any normal person’s reaction to that would be a hearty “what the fuck.” And Lena saying, “Oh, the kryptonite was Lex’s” and then changing her story to, “Oh, B-T-dubs, I manufactured this shit in my lab” throws Kara’s character judgment badly into question – at a time when she’s already being told from all sides that her instincts are wrong about pretty much everything.

tl;dr Lena fucked up. And then instead of owning her mistake like a grown-up and explaining why she did what she did, she made excuses and got defensive about it.
