When members of the Grateful Dead rock group volunteered to participate in a dream telepathy experiment, we decided to consider it a “pilot study”.
We felt that the emotional intensity that accompanied Grateful Dead concerts would resemble the feeling tone that accompanies anecdotal reports of telepathy, as when a parent dreams that his or her child is in danger at the same time that the son or daughter is at risk of some sort. Hence, one of the dream laboratory staff members, Ronald Suarez, selected 14 slides of art prints which he felt would be appropriate for the study. On the day of each session, he threw dice which directed him to two of these slides which were given to the staff member (Ronnie Mastrion) actually present at the concert. The slides were placed in separate, sealed, opaque envelopes; Mr. Suarez marked one of them “heads” while the other was marked “tails”. At 11:30 PM each night, Mr. Mastrion tossed a coin and noted whether it came up “heads” or “tails”. This toss determined which envelope Mr. Mastrion opened and which slide he projected on the screen facing the concert audience.
Slides of such art prints as Scralian's “The Seven Spinal Chakras” and Magritte's “Philosophy of the Boudoir” were in the target pool. Duplicate copies of the slides were put aside for later evaluation by the outside judges, Michael Bova, an art therapy student, and David Powlison, a divinity student.
The six concerts involved in this pilot study were held at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, New York, approximately 45 miles from Maimonides Medical Center's dream laboratory in Brooklyn. In February 1971, when this study was executed, the members of the Grateful Dead included Jerry Garcia, who had originally suggested the project to me, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Ron McKernan, and Bob Weir.
“Telepathic Receivers”
Two individuals who had participated in earlier experiments at the dream laboratory served as “telepathic receivers”. One of them, Malcolm Bessent, spent the night at the laboratory with electrodes attached to his head. His sleep - dream cycle was monitored with standard psycho physiological equipment, and he was awakened about ten minutes after the detection of REM activity. The other “receiver”, Felicia Parise, slept at her Brooklyn apartment. She was awakened by telephone from time to time during the night and asked for dream recall.
Mr. Bessent's dreams were tape recorded and subsequently transcribed. Ms. Parise's dreams were recorded manually and subsequently typed for the judges' evaluations. The following morning, both “telepathic receivers” went over their dream reports, giving associations and adding any pertinent details that may have been omitted.
However, the 2,000 people at the Capitol Theater were only informed regarding Bessent. At 11:30 PM, Mr. Mastrion flashed the following six slide sequence on the screen facing the audience:
1. YOU ARE ABOUT TO PARTICIPATE IN AN ESP EXPERIMENT.
2. IN A FEW SECONDS YOU WILL SEE A PICTURE.
3. TRY USING YOUR ESP TO “SEND” THIS PICTURE TO MALCOM BESSENT.
4. HE WILL TRY TO DREAM ABOUT THIS PICTURE. TRY TO “SEND” IT TO HIM.
5. MALCOLM BESSENT IS NOW AT THE MAIMONIDES DREAM LABORATORY IN BROOKLYN.
At this point, the randomly selected art print was projected on to the screen. Members of the Grateful Dead discussed the art print and encouraged members of the audience to “send” the images to Brooklyn.
Conclusion
As the target pictures were 45 miles from the research participants, the possibility of sensory cues can be dismissed. In the case of Mr. Bessent, the “telepathic receiver” whose scores were the more statistically impressive, there is little chance that someone from the concert could have reached him by telephone (or even a hidden ear receiver, as this possibility was considered and checked), informing him as to the art print being projected on any given night.
Considerably more work needs to be done to determine if 2, 000 “telepathic transmitters” are better than one. However, this pilot study did lead to the utilization of multi - sensory stimuli in future studies where auditory, tactile, gustatory, and olfactory stimuli accompanied the visual stimulus of the art print. Furthermore, their willingness to participate in this pilot study demonstrates the ingenuity and creativity of the Grateful Dead band members (Krippner, Honorton, & Ullman, 1973). The results of this study were published in a medical journal in1973, becoming one small part of the Grateful Dead legend.

Calif. Democratic Party adopts resolution, condemning Turkey and Azerbaijan for war crimes, urging release of Armenian POWs
New Post has been published on https://armenia.in-the.news/politics/calif-democratic-party-adopts-resolution-condemning-turkey-and-azerbaijan-for-war-crimes-urging-release-of-armenian-pows-72926-04-05-2021/
Calif. Democratic Party adopts resolution, condemning Turkey and Azerbaijan for war crimes, urging release of Armenian POWs
Tumblr media
The California Democratic Party on Sunday adopted, as part of its top 13 priorities coming out of its 2021 state convention, a resolution condemning Turkey and Azerbaijan for the war crimes they committed over the course of 44 days and after their attack on the Republic of Artsakh and Armenia, beginning  on September 27, 2020, Asbarez reports.
The resolution, introduced by LACDP Elected Member and DSCC Member Elen Asatryan, also urges Congress and the Biden Administration to sanction Turkey and Azerbaijan and demand that Azerbaijani authorities immediately release all Armenian Prisoners of War and captured civilians. Furthermore, it also calls on the California Public Employees’ Retirement System and the State Teachers’ Retirement System to divest all public employee retirement funds from investment vehicles issued by Turkey and Azerbaijan until Turkey recognizes the Armenian Genocide, and until the people of Artsakh are afforded the opportunity of self-determination on their indigenous lands. The measure passed during Sunday’s general floor session as part of a docket that drew overwhelming approval from delegates, with only nominal opposition on other resolutions, but none on record regarding resolution 21-04.143.
“With the passage of this resolution as part of its priorities, the California Democratic Party sent a clear message to Ankara, Baku, Washington, CALSTRS and CALPERS that its way past time to take immediate steps to ensure the safe return of Armenian POW’s and civilian hostages currently being held captive by Azerbaijan, and to not only sanction Turkey and Azerbaijan, but to divest from any and all public investments in Turkey and Azerbaijan.  To aid, trade, and invest is to be complicit in Turkey’s ongoing Genocide denial campaign and the war crimes Turkey and Azerbaijan continue to commit to this day. This is a humanitarian crisis that demands bold leadership and our immediate attention, and it is our moral responsibility to take a firm stand against human rights violations, to show solidarity in this moment of pain, and to amplify the voices of oppressed and displaced indigenous  communities against the oppressive forces,” emphasized Elen Asatryan.
“Thank you to the over 125 sponsors, delegates community organizations and members who helped rally support for this important resolution including Congressman Adam Schiff, Los Angeles Councilmember Paul Krekorian, DSCC Members Hans Johnson, Dr. Suzie Abajian, Kev Abazajian, Malcolm Johnson, The Armenian National Committee of America-WR, The Armenian Assembly of America, Southern California Armenian Democrats, the Glendale Teachers Association as well as the resolutions committee members and the over 900 delegates who ultimately voted to adopt it,” she added.
“It’s absolutely unacceptable that many months after the end of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, hundreds of Armenian service members and civilians remain in Azerbaijani custody. Little is known of their condition, treatment or well-being,” said Congressman Adam Schiff who was listed as the first sponsor of the original resolution. “The United States must use every diplomatic lever to secure the immediate release of these detained POWs and civilians and impose consequences on Azerbaijan for their continued violations of human rights. I was proud to support Elen Asatryan’s work on this resolution calling on the Biden Administration and Congress to  condemn Turkey and Azerbaijan and demand that Azerbaijani authorities immediately release all Armenian POWS and captured civilians,” he added.
A total of 159 resolutions were submitted for consideration at the CDP Convention. Asatryan’s resolution was approved as “debate and passed as amended” at the pre-meeting of the resolutions committee prior to the convention. On Friday, the resolution was placed on the resolutions committee’s consent calendar and passed with unanimous consent as no opposition or additional amendments came from committee members. The resolutions committee held a subsequent meeting on Saturday, which lasted well over six hours. Delegates who chose to participate had one minute each to convey their preferred resolution to be considered as part of the top priorities resolutions. There was an overwhelming number of delegates from across the Golden State who spoke in support of Asatryan’s resolution, placing it in the top three.
“Tenacity. Teamwork. Representation. These three core values of our Democratic club, East Area Progressive Democrats (EAPD), proved critical to winning approval from delegates of the California Democratic Party of its first-ever resolution to respect the human rights of Armenians. I am proud of the many EAPD members, led by Elen Asatryan and Malcolm Johnson, who worked hard and persevered through all obstacles to earn this victory for the long-ignored voices of Armenian people and overdue accountability for violations of law and conscience by Turkey and Azerbaijan. Now the largest state Democratic Party in the world’s foremost democracy bears witness to and officially stands up for human rights,” Hans Johnson, President, East Area Progressive Democrats and sponsor of the resolution.
The original resolution was submitted with the maximum 35 DSCC sponsors allowed and includes Congressman Adam Schiff and DSCC Members Dr. Suzie Abajian, Hans Johnson, Vanuhi Vartanian, Cindy Montoya, Ellen Finkelpearl, John Harabedian, Josue Barnes, Drexel Heard, Koreen Cea, Todd Jones, Jessica Craven, Linda Perez, Malcolm Johnson, Kev Abazajian, Gina Clayton-Tarvin, Sean Abajian, Melissa Taylor, Rebecca Wolfersberger, Luis Lopez, Mia Livas Porter, Marco Flores, Tina Fredericks, Steven Fisher, Karen Suarez, Mary Ann Lutz, Kathleen Patterson, Angelica Duenas, Tim Wendler, Mindy Pfeiffer, Jacinta Lincke, Kenneth Armstrong, Jason Small, and Thom O’Shaughnessy.
Letters of support were sent to the committee members from over 125 organizations, leaders, delegates and fellow democrats urging passage of the resolution, including the Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region, Armenian Assembly of America, Southern California Armenian Democrats, Pan Armenian Council of the Western United States and its 24 regional and national Armenian-American religious, political and civil organizations, the Glendale Teachers Association, East Area Progressive Democrats, Los Angeles Councilmember Paul Krekorian, and others.
“I’m grateful to the California Democratic Party for standing on the side of justice and human rights in passing this urgently needed resolution,” stated resolution sponsor, LACDP Elected Member and DSCC Member representing AD41 Dr. Suzie Abajian.
“With President Biden’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide, I am proud that the California Democratic Party acted to help stop  current Azeri and Turkish aims to kill Armenians and remove them from their ancestral, indigenous homelands. Elected officials and party leaders must ensure hostages and POWs are freed now,“ added Dr. Kev Abazajian, resolution sponsor, DSCC Member representing AD74 and Chair of Democrats of Greater Irvine.
“SCAD supports the California Democratic Party’s resolution for divestment of public retirement funds from Turkey and Azerbaijan, thus holding them accountable for their criminal and inhumane behavior during the 44 Day war and thereafter. Divestment of public funds from these undemocratic states is the only means we, as Californians, have of reducing the resources available to them in implementing their outsized, if not imperial, regional aspirations. As California Democrats, we are proud of our party for it steadfastly standing shoulder to shoulder with us,” emphasized Chair of the Southern California Armenian Democrats (SCAD), Leonard Manoukian.
“We applaud the California Democratic Party for adopting resolution urging the release of Armenian POWS and civilian hostages, divesting from and sanctioning Turkey and Azerbaijan as part of its 2021 Convention and priorities,” remarked ANCA-WR Executive Director Armen Sahakyan. “We thank all of  the authors and sponsors as well as the over 900 delegates who voted in favor of this resolution.”
“Kudos to Delegate Elen Asatryan and fellow CDP delegates from throughout California for demonstrating the moral fortitude in introducing and advocating for the adoption of this important and timely resolution. The CDP is clear and unequivocal in its position that Azerbaijan and Turkey must be held accountable for its inhumane treatment of Armenian POWs and captured civilians, and that divestment and sanctions on both authoritarian regimes is in order,” stated Armenian Assembly of America Western Region Director Mihran Toumajan.
The original text of Asatryan’s resolution as submitted along with source materials and support letters is available here The text of the amended resolution as passed is available here.
This resolution comes on the heels of President Biden formally recognizing the Armenian Genocide as genocide and another unanimously-passed resolution by the LA County Democratic Party in October 2020 authored by Asatryan, which condemned Azerbaijan and Turkey for committing war crimes during their 2020 attacks on the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) and Armenia and called on the U.S. to immediately impose sanctions and halt military aid to Azerbaijan and Turkey.
California is home to over one million Armenian Americans, a large majority of whom are directly impacted by the current threats and are descendants of Armenian Genocide survivors, who have been tirelessly advocating for global assistance and intervention as they witnessed the unimaginable sufferings of their family members overseas, inflicted by Turkey and Azerbaijan.
The California Democratic party is the dominant political party in the state.  Representing over 10.3 million democrats, it is also the largest democratic entity in the United States. The annual convention is a meeting of delegates of the party at state level to decide party policy, adopt rules governing the party’s organization, elect executive members, and select candidates running for office.

Pedro Almodóvar's "A Little Night Music"
I was VERY VERY VERY bored at work last night and it occurred to me that A Little Night Music would be a perfect musical for Almodóvar to adapt, with it’s switching partners and examination of the sexes and sexuality. So I got creative and imagined what that might look like and modeled it based on his late 1980s/early 1990s movies. All the songs would remain in their normal places, perhaps with a few lines modified to reflect its updated time and setting.
The show is interrupted with commentary by the Liebeslieder Singers, now a group of Flamenco Singers. While still in waltz time, the music takes on the more traditional musical sounds of Spain.
Desiree Armfeldt, Spain's aging, but glamorous thespian, tours the country during the 1980s at the height of the La movida madrileña in a flashy production of Lorca’s Blood Wedding. Back on his Toledo estate, her father, Señor Armfeldt- Madrid's most famous drag queen/rent boy before the Civil War- raises his daughter’s daughter, Federica, a dour girl with a penchant for staging suicides based on the Catholic martyrs. Señor Armfeldt enchants Federica with stories of his childhood, including the three sonrisas of the night.
Desiree’s former lover, the widowed Federico is a cabinet minister in the Suarez government and newly married to the still-virginal Ana, a former novitiate who left the convent due to an incident involving the Friday fish during the previous year’s Lenten season. Federico's son, Enrique, a theology student at the local university, has known Ana since birth and shares a familial bond with her, as well as a carnal desire. Ana’s maid, Paula, a companion of Franco and his allies, regales Ana with tales of her worldly knowledge.
With the help of his manservant, Señor Armfeldt puts on his old drag and reminisces about his prime, before the Civil War, and how his talents brought him his riches, and how even with Franco gone, he’s far too old to go back to his old life of drag and tricks. At appropriate pauses in “Liasions,” Señor Armfeldt delivers veiled insults toward his daughter which also serve as critiques of regressive Franco regime and its Catholic supporters.
Federico and Ana attend a performance of Blood Wedding, but leave after Ana becomes upset, Federico returns to stage door Desiree, where they rekindle their relationship and have a tryst after he explains his marital predicament to Desiree. Desiree’s current lover, the bisexual and recently retired torero Carlo Magnus-Malcolm, interrupts them and after talking her way out of the sticky situation, Federico leaves and returns home to Ana. Carlo doubts Desiree’s story and tells his wife, the transgender matchmaker/cabaret singer Carlota, who realizes Ana is an old classmate of her younger sister.
Carlota pays Ana a visit and informs her of her husband’s infidelity over a glass of sangria. Over a flashback montage with an anachronistic recording of Estrella Morente singing in the background, Carlota explains to Ana how during her time living and working as a Catholic priest, listening to the confessions of adulterous men showed her that men cause their wives nothing but pain. The priestly Carlota took on each of their sins personally, leading her to realize that she herself did so because she accepted their sins as a woman, not as a priest, leading Carlota to come to terms with her long-questioned gender identity. Ana questions why Carlota puts up with her husband’s infidelities.
Desiree plots to steal Federico from Ana. Ana and Carlota plot to shame Desiree for her home wrecking and embarrass their husbands in the process. Enrique struggles with reconciling his theological studies and his borderline-incestuous feelings for his step-mother, going so far to frequenting a similar looking prostitute. Federica’s staged suicides become more elaborate. All of this eventually culminates in a visit from Desiree to her father and daugher. She convinces her father to host Federico and his family at the estate outside of Toledo to spend a weekend in the country. The invitations go out, and lo and behold, who shows up but Carlo and Carlota, on their way to Granada for Carlo to meet with an up-and-coming matador to possibly take on and train.
During the siesta, Señor Armfeldt’s guests mingle: Ana and Carlota get their plan straight; Federico and Carlo discuss their shared ambitions with Desiree in the driest of terms while keeping wary of the other; Enrique gets on well with Federica and confesses that he’s in love with his stepmother, the first time he’s said it aloud.
Señor Armfeldt, tasked with his most extravagant party since the fall of the Second Spanish Republic, puts on his highest drag and proceeds to dust off his pre-war persona of Madame Tápame during dinner, much to the embarrassment of Desiree but delight of her guests. Carlota flirts with Federico, angering her husband and upsetting Ana, despite Ana’s knowledge of the plan. Desiree is able to rebuff all of Carlota’s disguised insults with her own stinging rebukes. Madame Tápame, reveling in being able to live out her vocation once again, reads everyone at the table for their atrocious behavior, but Enrique storms away from the table after declaring everyone immoral. To cut the tension, Federica stages a suicide modeled on the martyrdom of Santa Cecilia, using one of Carlo’s banderillos as the sword.
Everyone leaves the table except Federica. Still posing as Santa Cecilia, we see her smile for the first time before she leaves to find Ana and tell her about Enrique’s love. Desiree catches up with Federico to “rescue” him from his marriage, but he rebuffs her. She’s hurt but lets him go.
Ana finds Enrique with another of Carlo’s banderillos, who’s ready to slice his throat when Ana declares how comical he’s been. They embrace and run off into the barn. Ana’s maid Paula, who’d snuck off during the chaos of dinner, sneaks out of the main house, kisses Señor Armfeldt’s manservant good night, and sings “The Miller’s Son” to compare the fun of her life to Ana’s marriage, which also serves to examine the cultural revolution of Spain as a result of La movida madrileña- Ana’s marriage representing the Franco years and Paula being La movida. During the final “there are mouths to be kissed/before mouths to be fed...” portion, Paula gives a knowing glance, referring to Ana and her newfound freedom (NB: not that Federico was an oppressive and dictatorial husband, just than her life with Federico was symbolic of life under Franco, sexually repressed and unfulfilling).
Carlota finds Federico on the terrace and apologizes to him for her behavior at dinner. They see Enrique and Ana run by, kissing and discussing their future alive. Realizing what this means for him, Carlota comforts Federico. Inside the house, Desiree ends her relationship with Carlo once and for all. He spots Federico and Carolta sitting together through a window and misinterpreting their body language, challenges the other man to a fight. Federico refuses and takes a fist to the face and Carlota runs into her husband’s arms, bowled over by his willingness to fight for her. Desiree finds Federico again, and now free from his marital obligations, he allows himelf to be “rescued.” Señor Armfeldt, still in drag as Madame Tápame, discusses the night’s events with Federica, and says perhaps she’s not as irrelevant as she once thought, but even she must know when it’s time to stop living for the past and let the new generation of fools and lovers take over.
Señor Armfeldt is wheeled away and the curtain comes down on the evening’s three couples, now appropriately matched and dancing together in the flamenco style.

Your Monday Morning Roundup
The Phillies had a little bit of everything this weekend out in Pittsburgh.
One day after Hector Neris infuriated the Dodgers dugout, the Phillies defeated the Pirates 6-1 in their series opener. Jake Arrieta went 5 2/3 and gave up one run on six hits with four strikeouts. The highlight was a Jean Segura 13-pitch at-bat that ended with him winning a race to first that scored a big insurance run in the eighth inning.
Saturday wasn’t too kind for the Phils, as Joe Musgrove stymied the team’s bats by going six innings of one-run, two-hit baseball with eight strikeouts in the Phillies’ 5-1 loss. Pittsburgh got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the third, as the team celebrated their 1979 World Series Champion squad. But the highlight of the night was the uniform matchup, easily the best there’s been all year in the Majors.
A celebration of uniform GREATNESS tonight in Pittsburgh… Thank you @Pirates & @Phillies

On Sunday, with recently signed pitcher Drew Smyly on the mound (the team also acquired Mike Morin from the Twins for bullpen depth), the Phillies needed extra innings to grab a series win. Smyly went six innings and gave up a run on four hits with eight strikeouts in his debut, which manager Gabe Kapler said reminded him of Cliff Lee on a day when Roy Halladay was being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. But the difference was a Rhys Hoskins solo home run in the 11th that gave the Phils a 2-1 win. Ranger Suarez got the win after pitching the 10th and 11th innings.
The Phils are off today but get back to action with a two-game series in Detroit on Tuesday. Aaron Nola kicks things off before Vince Velasquez gets the nod the day after.

Democratic Party member Elen Asatryan introduces resolution urging release of Armenian POWs
New Post has been published on https://armenia.in-the.news/politics/democratic-party-member-elen-asatryan-introduces-resolution-urging-release-of-armenian-pows-72863-02-05-2021/
Democratic Party member Elen Asatryan introduces resolution urging release of Armenian POWs
Tumblr media
Elected Member of Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP) and member of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) Elen Asatryan has introduced a resolution, which will be considered at the California Democratic Convention taking place from April 29 through May 2, condemning Turkey and Azerbaijan for the war crimes they committed over the course of 44 days after their attack on the Republic of Artsakh and Armenia, which began on September 27, 2020, Asbarez reports.
The resolution also urges Congress and the Biden Administration to sanction Turkey and Azerbaijan and demand that Azerbaijani authorities immediately release all Armenian POWS and captured civilians. Furthermore, it also calls on the California Public Employees’ Retirement System and the State Teachers’ Retirement System to take socially responsible steps and divest all public employee retirement funds from investment vehicles issued by Turkey and Azerbaijan until Turkey recognizes the Armenian Genocide of 1915 – 1923, and until the people of Artsakh are afforded the opportunity of self-determination on their indigenous lands.
“Authoring this resolution is deeply personal because Armenian-Americans are among the diverse constituents I am proud to represent in my capacity as an elected member of Los Angeles County’s Democratic Party and Democratic State Central Committee. It is our duty and our moral responsibility as an organization to take a firm stand against human rights violations, to show solidarity in this moment of pain, to amplify the voices of our minority communities against the voices of oppression, and to uphold the basic values of life, liberty, and pursuit of a dignified existence. This is a humanitarian crisis that demands bold leadership and our immediate attention,” emphasized Asatryan.
“The situation is dire, lives are at stake with Armenian POWs and civilian hostages still being held captive and continuous threats from the Dictators Erdogan and Alliev to finish their mission of annihilating the Armenian people. Turkey and Azerbaijan must be held accountable not only for the war crimes they continue to commit to date, but for the inappropriate allocation of our American tax dollars towards these war crimes.”
“If we don’t take a strong stance now, then nothing sets us apart from the international community in 1915 who stood by and watched the Armenian Genocide unfold- and did nothing to stop it.  I am hopeful that my peers and fellow leaders within the Democratic Party will reflect on the critical importance of this time-sensitive resolution and will shepherd its passage at the state convention, and thank all the elected officials, sponsors, and organizations who have helped bring the resolution to this point,” she added.
“Because genocide is not some relic of the past, it’s happening right now in places around the world. Only months ago, Turkey and Azerbaijan made war against the Armenians in Artsakh, and many Armenians fear that another genocide could take place at any time. Speaking this simple truth can help deter other crimes against humanity by demonstrating that those who engage in mass murder will be held accountable,” stated Congressman Adam Schiff who is a sponsor on the resolution.
“As the grandchild of four genocide survivors and as a third generation refugee of the genocide, I see the recent offensive by the Azerbaijani and Turkish governments as the continuation of the legacy of genocide, the uprooting of my indigenous Armenian community from our ancestral lands and the destruction of our cultural heritage. This resolution is timely and essential because it calls for holding the Azerbaijani and Turkish governments accountable for their ongoing human rights violations against my people. Our tax dollars can no longer support the war crimes of these governments,” stated LACDP Elected Member and DSCC Members Suzie Abajian who also stands as a sponsor to the CDP resolution.
The original resolution was submitted with the maximum 35 DSCC sponsors allowed and includes Congressman Adam Schiff and DSCC Members Suzie Abajian, Hans Johnson, Vanuhi Vartanian, Cindy Montoya, Ellen Finkelpearl, John Harabedian, Josue Barnes, Drexel Heard, Koreen Cea, Todd Jones, Jessica Craven, Linda Perez, Malcolm Johnson, Kev Abazajian, Gina Clayton-Tarvin, Sean Abajian, Melissa Taylor, Rebecca Wolfersberger, Luis Lopez, Mia Livas Porter, Marco Flores, Tina Fredericks, Steven Fisher, Karen Suarez, Mary Ann Lutz, Kathleen Patterson, Angelica Duenas, Tim Wendler, Mindy Pfeiffer, Jacinta Lincke, Kenneth Armstrong, Jason Small, and Thom O’Shaughnessy.
The California Democratic Party’s resolutions committee has the authority to amend language of any resolution it receives. It also has authority to combine resolutions, should there be multiple resolutions submitted that are similar in topic, without needing prior approval from those who have authored the resolutions. Though there were two resolutions similar in topic, and the other resolution’s author has been added to the referenced resolution, the committee chose to use the language of Asatryan’s resolution exclusively, worked with Asatryan exclusively on amendments, and agreed to keep the language of her original resolution mainly in place. The other resolution in its entirety was considered both outdated and not in line with CDP guidelines. In addition, it included a list of sponsors, which at least two were verified as unauthorized for use, and one unauthorized sponsor which was also not a DSCC member.
