One other thing I forgot to say during Gridman:

In Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad the human half of the antagonist duo Malcolm Frink designed Kaiju for Tim Curry Kilokahn for just as petty of reasons as Akane, with two major differences:

1. Akane is fully aware she’s killing people, Malcolm was an edgy loner type, but all he ever wanted to do was be petty in the most extra way possible.

2. Malcom was that kid who kept to himself and was largely ignored at school (there’s a reason I related to him) and he hated how popular the main character was. Akane is the popular one here, and she seems to have taken a liking to the main character. At least for now.

I love how this series blends different elements of its predecessors to make something interesting. It’s refreshing.
