Din and Grogu settle comfortably in their Nevarro home. Every once in a while, Bo drops by for a visit. R5 always greets her when her ship lands, and Grogu always shows her a frog he has caught while playing in the pond out front. Din leans in the doorway.
I like what you've done with the place, she tells him coyly. He smiles behind the helmet.
It's good to see you, he says. Let's have a drink.
They sit at the table facing the large window and watch Grogu play while R5 whirs and beeps around him.
Din pulls the cork from the tall bottle of Coruscant wine and pours them each a glass. How are things on Mandalore? He asks.
Going well. Construction on the capital building has begun.
That's good.
She takes a sip from her glass. The wine tastes like cinnamon and sweet rain on grass.
Din.
He tips his helmet just enough to take a sip, then looks back at her.
I'm here because... She trails off, glancing down sheepishly.
His gloved hands tighten around his glass.
They sit in silence for a long while. Then he stands.
The suns are about to set, he says.
They walk outside, where Grogu is now napping on the front steps and R5 is recharging. Din motions for Bo to sit on the bench under a canopy, and joins her. Together, they watch the red suns descend on the horizon.
She does not need to say she wants to stay. He does not need to ask.

So... My first Mando fanfic just hit 500 kudos. And I'm just,, honestly blown away by the response to that fic. I wrote it back in December in a frenzy while at work because I couldn't help but fall in love with a metal space dad and his green bean son, and I was moved to create something for them!! And to be honest, I went into it somewhat expecting a small response, because the fandom was pretty small then and I also had been a more casual fan of SW and I was going into it with almost no knowledge of the lore lol (not like that's changed). I woke up the next day after posting and had received some of the nicest comments and I was extremely happy with that!! And I thought that was going to be the end of my fic's "fame" so to speak. But even months later, some wonderful people are finding that fic and still leaving kudos and maybe a comment if they feel, and like???? That's just insane to me. Legit, that fic (along with the entire series) is my pride and joy and knowing that people are still finding joy in reading them? I only have one thing to say to you: from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU, I LOVE YOU, AND I APPRECIATE YOU AND YOUR SUPPORT MORE THAN YOU'LL EVER KNOW

ok! manDadlorian father-daughter prompt: reader is a little delinquent with a chip on her shoulder and she's growing close to her found family but doesn't want to admit it, while stranded on a planet mandad finds out that she's never had someone tell her a bedtime story so he tries his best and tells one about the stars
Can'gal (Starfighter)
Summary: You ask the Mandalorian for a bedtime story to help you fall asleep
A/N: Everyone kept asking and so you shall receive! Dadalorian & YA reader (Father & child). I try my hardest to make these gender-neutral so everyone can enjoy them but if there is something that doesn’t make that possible let me know and I can rewrite or re-tag the fic!
This is one version I had for this prompt. I changed it slightly to for the narrative I already have going on but I may write another one later on.
As a person who didn’t have the closest bond with her father, I put a lot of heart into these. One of the things I do cherish from my childhood and who it shaped me to be today was my dad’s taste in all things nerdy (comics, sci-fi movies, music). One of my Favorite movies I remember watching with my dad as a little kid was “The Last Starfighter.” (HIghly recommend it for a cheesy 80’s space movie).
Rating: G
Word count: 775
Warnings: Angst. Fluff. Like fluffier than the pillow, you are about to lay your head on in this fic.
The first time he had heard you crying it absolutely shattered his heart.
He knew you cried nearly every night after putting the child to sleep, hiding in the fresher or in the hidden compartment that held the small cot. In the mornings your eyes would be red and swollen and in the month since you've been on board you've lost a significant amount of weight from lack of sleep. When the two of you would make eye contact he could see the sorrow and pain and desperation for your family to come back.
This night was different. Instead of putting Grogu to sleep you had turned in for bed early, leaving Mando to rock the little one until slumber overtook his little body. When Mando descended from the cockpit and down into the hull to settle the little one into his pram he heard your sobs. They were faint enough that he wouldn’t have caught them if he hadn’t stopped for a brief moment to study his sleeping son.
Your cries were like a knife to his chest. He could feel it piercing his heart, causing it to break into millions of tiny fractals. His own tears swelled and threatened to spill over at the corners of his eyes. The sobs and whimpers that came through the metal walls of the sleeping quarters reminded him of his own when he had lost his family. He remembered long lonely nights sobbing and screaming until his adoptive father would come to aid him back to sleep with a story.
Lifting his helmet, Mando rubbed the tears from his eyes and took a deep breath to collect himself before making his way to the door of the sleeping quarters. Giving a couple of soft knocks- as not to startle you- you heard your sobs slowly stop and the shifting of blankets. Not even a minute later the door opened.
You sat in the middle of the cot surrounded in blankets - your favorite one from home draped around your shoulders with a shaking hand clutching it to your chest.
Sighing, Mand leaned against the doorway and tilted his helmet to look down at you.
“You ok?” His voice was soft and gentle. It reminded you so much of your father and how he would comfort you when you had been fighting night terrors, gained another scraped knee that would probably scar, or when your baby brother pulled your hair just a little too hard.
Those two simple words caused your chin to tremble and your throat tightens as you fought back the tears. Burying your face in your hands you trembled as each sob was violently ripped from your chest. You felt the end of the cot dip and a hand gently squeeze your feet.
You continued to cry for some time but when you found you had more tears to shed you wiped your face and looked up at the Mandalorian sitting by your feet.
“I just miss them so much.” Your voice was weak and little.
“I know.” There was a brief pause as you wiped the tears from your face and Mando studied you. “Is there anything I can do? To… to make you feel at home?” His voice trailed off and broke at the end. You could hear the anguish in his own voice.
“My father used to tell me bedtime stories when I was little and couldn’t sleep. He would tell me stories about his time in the clone wars and stories he heard from others. They fascinated me.” Giving a wet chuckle you rubbed your eyes, trying to soothe the burning and fatigue from crying. “I don’t suppose the bounty hunter has any he may be willing to share, does he? I know that's silly. A near-adult asking for a bedtime story…”
Nodding his head Mando shifted on the edge of the cot so he could lean back against the wall. Using his vambrace he turned off the lights in the hull.
“A long time ago there was a boy who wanted to be among the stars…”
Laying back down you let your head fall to the pillow. It felt cooler and softer than it did just a couple of minutes ago. Closing your eyes a smile spread across your face as you pulled your blanket closer.
“The boy was a mighty fighter on land but wished to be a pilot,” Mando continued. “He would spend hours working on ships and occasionally found a pilot who would talk him through the controls and share stories of their own. One day there was a pilot who offered to let him fly his ship…”

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💗
Thanks for the ask--I always enjoy doing these 😊 I only have three fics, but I can still order them.
1.) The Lost Get Found--This is 100 percent Mandalorian wish fulfillment, with all the ships I love, lots of cute kids, and where everyone ends up as one big loving chaotic family. COVID complications have slowed down my writing, so I haven't updated since September, but I'm still plugging away when I have the energy, and wrote most of an entire scene last week--so hopefully it won't be much longer!
I woudl say it's my favorite because it's challenged me to really dig into Mandalorian culture and create a world based on what works for these characters in these circumstances, as well as persevere through all kinds of plot complications--which is why I haven't given up 🥰
2. We Will Raise Warriors--My first foray back into fanfic writing after a break of over ten years--which is why it's my second favorite--and why I've decided, at some point, to continue it--to watch this little family grow in many senses of the word! I'm thinking I'd like to do ten or so more chapters, but who knows what might happen? 😊 I'm thinking I might write it as a TLGF AU--with some of the same characters but in different settings than the main story.
3. The Mandad Chronicles: Three Generations--Even though this one is in third place, that doesn't mean I don't love it any less! Also a tie-in to "The Lost Get Found" and some of the events and characters, this one is all about family, and shows a different side of some "Rebels" characters. Lots of little Wren cuteness! 💛 This one will also get some follow ups at some point about other Mandalorian dads.

hi, i just wanted to say i love your art!!! it looks so realistic and is so perfect! in my experience, it's really difficult to capture a real person's face in drawing, so kudos to you for doing it so splendidly! i bet you've practiced a LOT. anyway i have been in love with the mandad/clan of two dynamic for a while, and now recently into irondad, and so stumbling across your art of both has been such a blessing 😍 thank you so much for sharing your art!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!🥰🥰🥰 You are so sweet for writing this! These comments really motivate me to continue drawing❤️That’s amazing there is more of us who love irondad and also The Mandalorian! Wooohoo! I am kinda obsessed with Grogu and Din right now so more drawings are coming deffinitely! 😁

Remember when JJ Abrams said...
“In Episode 9 (…) I also found myself doing things that I’m not sure I would have been as daring to do on Episode 7. Rian [Johnson] helped remind me that that’s why we’re on these movies — not to just do something that you’ve seen before.”
If the leaks are true, this quote makes no sense whatsoever, because he literally would have done *everything* exactly the same as what we have seen before and ended the saga right back where it was at the end of RoTJ.  The original characters will have fought and bled for the Empire to be defeated, only for the FO to rise up and have to do it all over again - except they all die this time. The exact same bad guy who has been the bane of the Skywalker existence for 3 generations will come back, and be the (indirect) cause of the last Skywalker’s death. The state of the war and the quest for balance in the Force will be the same as it was at the end of RoTJ...the light side won this round.  So, stay tuned for the dark side rising up, again.
It just makes zero sense to me. Does it make sense to anyone else? No? Okay, so let’s assume for the moment that it doesn’t make sense to anyone at DLF either and wait for the European premiere to confirm or deny this CF of leaks, spoilers, and fan theories.
Optimistic Me: Ain’t no way Disney got where it is by putting out rehashed shit writing like this...
Pessimistic Me: But then again, Disney is also putting out an endless procession of shit live action re-makes of the original animated classics because no one can come up with original ideas anymore
Optimistic Me: But at least I have Mandad and Baby Yoda so this is fine...I’m fine...we’re all FINE here now...how are you?
Mark Wahlberg: You know what FINE stands for, right?  Freaked Out, Insecure, Neurotic, and Emotional.
Me: Shut up, Mark.

4, 8 and 23, for the meta asks?
4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)
I’ll share something from an old/current WIP! I like this interaction between Chirrut and Jyn :)
“Is it worth it?”
“In my experience,” Chirrut smiles warmly, “it is. But only you make it worth it, Jyn Erso.”
“How?” Jyn pleads.
Chirrut’s smile grows, the corners of his eyes crinkling. He squeezes Jyn’s shoulder once before letting his hand fall away.
“Like everything else you do,” he answers simply. “You fight for it.”
Lol it’s my first try at Chirrut so go easy on me! But I really like how this little exchange turned out :))
8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?
YES!!! Absolutely yes!! It’s even better when I read it honestly lol. Angst/whump is my jam, and I love a good dose of fluff too :D Honestly if I write it, why wouldn’t I wanna read it? lol
23. What’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest?
From a previous ask: I have some story ideas in my head that are still rolling around in my brain and it’s been like a year XD A lot of the ideas I have will probably be longer works, which is probably what’s stopping me from starting/continuing them OOF 😭😭😭 These include but are not limited to:
Part 5 of my Mandad series
3+1 Mandomera fic
Rebelcaptain laundromat meet-cute AU
Soft morning snuggles ft. Mandomera
That one prompt fill.... 😖
Thank you for asking my friend @eatsleepandsing!! 😊😊😊💕💕

18 and 23 :)
18. Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterizations?) Tell us about them.
Not that I can think of! Sometimes there are different paths that I can take and might indulge when I’m writing a fic, but for the most part (and the thing with one shots lol) my fics are pretty easy and concise so I don’t tend to have alternate versions. Of course when I’m trying to come up with a story there might be some different trains of thought to follow, but I tend to lean towards one idea and then go from there :)
23. What’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest?
I have some story ideas in my head that are still rolling around in my brain and it’s been like a year XD A lot of the ideas I have will probably be longer works, which is probably what’s stopping me from starting/continuing them OOF 😭😭😭 These include but are not limited to:

12, 24, 30 for the fandom end of year asks
12. longest fic you read this year
Aw man, I’ve read so much good fic this year!! So I think the longest completed fic I read was this is the fate you've carved on me by Selkit on AO3, and it’s by far one of the best Rebelcaptain fics I’ve ever read. An absolute treat of a story to get lost in for a day!
The longest ongoing fic I read this year is @muchadoloo‘s fantastic Mandad fic called Hold Me By the Heart. An amazing telling of our favorite shiny dad and son featuring more lovable characters and a really cool plot! Definitely recommend :)))
24. best episode you watched this year
OOOO I think my favorite episode of The Mandalorian has got to be Chapter 12: The Siege, because it gave us some of the BEST quality Mandad scenes ever!!!
30. fandom resolution for next year
I think my only resolution is to keep making fandom friends and write more fic for all of you lovely people! <333
Thank you so much for sending these in my dear @stonequiet! 😊😊💖💖

For the writer ask, 2, 12, 20, and 23? Thanks lovey :)
2. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project.
OOF I can’t really pick just one project! But what I always look forward to is character interaction!! I’m a writer heavily driven by character relationships (if you couldn’t tell lolol) so writing my favs talking and hanging out is always the best!! :D
12. Do you want your writing to be famous?
Hmm... okay this is an interesting one. I appreciate any and all support my written works get. Because they don’t have to get any love/attention, but they do, and the fact that people like and enjoy what I post is already enough for me, whether it be 10 or 1,000 people who are kind enough to even give my writing a shot. Do I want my writing to be famous? It doesn’t have to be. People can just like it to like it and I’m happy with that :)
20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
OMG THIS ONE QUESTION COULD BE A POST ALL ON ITS OWN 😭 Whenever I write something, it’s very deliberate, and sometimes I deliberately leave something out because I know that my audience is very smart and I want them to catch stuff that I don’t explicitly tell them, and they do a lot of the time, which makes me really happy!! :D
SO one thing I will bring out is the significance of my Mandad series title honey and wildfire are the same color. While the phrase itself seems pretty self-explanatory, it’s the comparison of the two that really gets me.
Honey = sweet, soft
Wildfire = dangerous, powerful
And this really goes into how we view Din and the duality of his character! Being both someone who is quite capable, a skilled fighter, a lone character, and a single father who is soft and caring to his child! It’s what I love about Din!!! AHHHHH!!
