If you want a surreal murder mystery, then this is the book for you. 

The main characters, all cats. Whilst your brain is busy trying to comprehend how cats can ride motorcycles and hold literature festivals, the most intriguing murder plot ensues.

Possibly this would have made more sense if I hadn’t jumped in with the second book but... I assumed this book would be a fairly light read, a bit of a laugh. Indeed, the puns are actually quite good and I enjoyed that aspect. The murders, however, are quite graphic considering the almost comical world in which they’re set. Maybe it just seems worse given the setting? 

Good if you like all the puns, cats and don’t like the Bronte sisters. Bad if, like me, you spend most of the plot with a headache trying to work out how cats function in this world.
