Book Bellatrix is (part one):

Very tall. Taller than all three of the trio according to Harry when Hermione uses polyjuice to turn into her.

Quick. She’s able to stun four snatchers at once even when they’re in an uproar against her. They all ‘fell where they stood’ suggesting they didn’t even have time to stop her. Greyback is also restricted before he can even try to stop her and bound and kneeling at her feet.

Still very attractive after Azkaban again according to Harry despite that she makes his stomach lurch every time he looks at her.

Has ‘very long rippling black hair’ that’s not curly. It’s still rippling but now it’s become slightly coarse rather than silken and shiny like it was before Azkaban.

Bloodthirstier. She interrogates Griphook and when she’s satisfied with his answer she casually flicks her wand to cut him deep in the face then doesn’t even look back at him as he falls to his knees and screams in agony.

Thin. Not gaunt looking like she was right after her release from Azkaban but that’s part of why she’s so intimidating. She’s tall and thin.

Violent. She hit Ron across the face (just to get him to shut up) so hard his mouth was filled with blood and the sound was so loud it echoed around the room. She’s so violent it seems second nature.

Low (almost sultry) and disdainful in her baritone / voice. I always read her lines in Angelina’s Maleficent voice.

Not thin lipped! Just puts her lips into a line or purses her lips from time to time.

Feared and revered even amongst the goblins of gringots who ‘do not get involved in wizarding issues’.

Has an outright ‘malevolent aura’. So much so she’s never questioned or affronted. All along Diagon alley people were quickly stealing away from her to hide, too terrified of her to stick around.

Known to be closest to Voldemort even in public and non-pureblood circles.

Terrifying. She’s described as ‘frightening, mad’ when she’s screaming orders — so much so even her own sister who had been reluctant to do as she wants does so anyway. Even Fenrir Greyback is scared of her. When she finally releases him he ‘appeared too weary to approach her’ and would rather ‘prowl behind an armchair’ than get too close to Bellatrix.

Physically strong. Certainly strong enough to drag Hermione by her hair into the middle of the room. Strong enough to throw off Lucius’ attempt to grasp her and capture him herself in her grasp.

Ruthless. ‘If she dies under questioning, I’ll take you next. Blood traitor is next to mudblood in my book.’ Something she tells Ron after she’s hit him. She’s also incredibly calm when she’s being violent or hurting people. She doesn’t think twice on it.

A natural leader. She takes charge in most situations. She gives orders easily and she doesn’t care who she’s giving them to. She tells Draco to ‘move this scum outside. If you haven’t got the guts to finish them then leave them in the courtyard for me.’ When indicating to the snatchers she left unconscious.

just saw a post saying bella would cut herself and you do not get her character if you really think she would do that. you're trying to tell me the most arrogant, self-centred, haughty, confident witch in the world would make herself bleed? drip her perfect pure pristine blood willingly? fucking no. absolute sacrilege to her character. no one - i mean no one has a right to make her bleed and even when voldemort becomes her teacher and yes very likely spills her blood that's something he earns from her even if he doesn't want to think so. she wasn't coerced after all, what she did with him was of her own volition - that probably includes all the training through blood and sweat and tears it took to be his only student. she is the most despicably arrogant and prideful pure blooded witch to have lived, she'd never have her blood willingly spilt, least of all by herself.

On my read through of DH I realise Harry’s wrong in thinking that Bellatrix doesn’t know the cup in her vault is a horcrux. She realises immediately that if they’ve been in her vault they could’ve taken it and then proceeds to take out 4 fully grown wizards within a matter of seconds and throws everyone in the cellar except hermione to interrogate her. She says to Narcissa and Lucius repeatedly that this is far more dangerous than they could’ve imagined and they need to follow her order or else they will all be dead by Voldemort’s hand.

So this spells only one thing to me; maybe Voldemort didn’t tell her — personally, as much of a Bellamort stan as I am, I still can’t see him telling her — but she certainly figured it out. If it’s just a treasure of his I don’t think she’d be as scared as she was. I don’t think she’d be worried for her own life — given she’s his favourite too — if she thought it was just another treasure of his. I think she clocks on that this random cup her master has given her Salazar knows how many years before is no mere trophy but something to be guarded with her life.

Not to mention… people forget that she is a Black. Not just a Black but she embodies the Blacks in their entirety. She is a very dark, very intelligent, very powerful witch who is an expert in the dark arts (“[ … ] I know magic that you, pathetic little boy could never begin to comprehend…”) and her ancestry and pride for being Bellatrix Black likely went hand in hand with her knowledge of dark magic from a young age. She absolutely knows what a horcrux is. I think she knew that this cup was exactly that, that she had part of her Master’s soul in her vault and that’s why she was terrified that they’d been in it.

favourite physical interpretation of bellatrix?

Long (to just above her lower back) wavy shining black hair. Dark grey eyes. Tall. Thin. Heavily marked with runes and magical ink (more post-azkaban). Square jaw. Prominent cheekbones. Long eyelashes. Full lips but thin mouth. Long thin fingers. Long sharp perfectly done nails. Terrifying and intimidating but sexy as fuck.

Alright moment of truth who does Bella love more Voldemort aka Tom or Rodolphus? or does she love them both in her own way?.

Ultimately...

Voldemort. He's the love of her life.

There's no one she is more mentally, emotionally, physically and magically stimulated by. There's also no one else she'd rather the father of her child(ren). She wants to die for him one day, whereas she'd not die for Rodolphus.

She's never had to change anything about herself for Voldemort which is true of Rodolphus bar one thing - her name. To Voldemort she'll always be Bellatrix Black. While she may not resent the Lestrange name and by no means is she not herself around Rodolphus, Voldemort knows her to the darkest most rotten parts of her soul and he takes pride in every part of her.

Though it is important to say certainly in my interpretation of her she loves Rodolphus too, he's her best friend and her (literal) partner in crime. I definitely think Rod loves her more than Bella loves him however, and that's a lot of fun to play around with. Rod gratifies her need to be loved back - something Voldemort does not give her.

Rodolphus also acts as a buffer for Bellatrix who is very, very intense with her love and passion - and for someone like Voldemort who can not reciprocate love but can be passionate in selective bouts, Rodolphus is a very very important person for her.

She certainly loves them both in her own way but she loves Voldemort more.

Also... why aren't they written more as a throuple? Hello? So much hot, dirty, juicy, dark potential?

magic, all magic - no matter how dark - leaves traces. Some said that was why the Blacks had grey eyes, they'd steeped themselves in magic so dark and deep that they'd lost the colour from their eyes. Some said if you looked them in the eyes too long, they'd steal your magic too.

I need to hear Bellatrix's family's reaction when they found out she was a playgirl! Did she ever take any of her girlfriends to meet her family?

Sorry its taken me so long to answer this, i've been trying to figure out how this would've worked. In short I don't think anyone really finds out. Not Rodolphus, not Cygnus, not even Lord Voldemort (once he's taught her occlumency). I think in Hogwarts Rita is the only one who really finds out Bellatrix is with other witches and I think she hates Bellatrix for her pureblood princess pretence - particularly as she's not part of that crowd.

I imagine given the society they live in, if Bellatrix has witches over at her home, they're always introduced as friends and her family don't so much as blink an eye. I'd imagine the witches don't mind either because they too are from prestigious pureblood houses (Greengrass, Selwyn, Macnair, Avery) and don't want to run the risk of anything improper (even if it is with another witch) being linked to them.

I think she's very quietly very manipulatively a playgirl. I really like the idea of her taking the girls to meet her family however lmao. She'd really relish that the witch she's got moaning and writhing beneath her in bed every night is sat with her family who are none the wiser. Or that same witch is with her at social parties dancing with her intended husband (or actual husband) but thinking about how Bellatrix makes her feel.

Hm, anyway, it's a fun little tidbit about her character I like adding in to explore her psyche and addictions and how she handles the society she lives in.

please, tell us more about the OCS that you and your friends have created for Bella, I would really like to know more about them

Most of the OCs weren't even made specifically for Bellatrix, they were just writers who were interacting randomly with her and who just happened to have great chemistry.

Kjartan. He was my favourite. He was actually my character created for the vikings fandom but I gave him to my closest wp to write when the fandom was dead. He pulled him into the HP world and made him a Nordic wizard who was a war lord. He was a Durmstrang student who now solely funded the education of their kind, he was exceptionally powerful in Scandinavia and Russia. They were a particular kind of wizard who didn't need wands to do magic (though they preferred them, I think we called them earth Wizards) and Kjartan was their King / Emperor. Voldemort wanted to forge an alliance with him as he had the same views on blood purity so he sent Bellatrix, but it wasn't without it's trickiness. Kjartan was actually known as King Kjartan the Cruel, just as dangerous but not as powerful as Voldemort. The King took a real liking to her (though it was not reciprocal) and wasn't afraid to make it known. One thing he couldn't do magic wise, was occlude. So once Voldemort had met him and pried to his mind to see he had no desires to take over whatever Voldemort was doing in Great Britain and France and actually just wanted his people to be happy and safe in Scandinavia, Bellatrix began to teach him occlumency. She ended up being forced to spend a lot of time with him and ultimately the connection which started as enemies somehow became lovers. Their story doesn't end well though. She left to continue fighting the war and never spoke to him again, which he was infuriated by. When she was released from Azkaban he came to find her and try and make her his again. In the end, after he'd wounded her really quite badly, Voldemort killed him.

Roselyn Greengrass. My friend wanted an OC so we decided to delve into a family that had little known about it - the Greengrass family. She was a Spanish pureblood princess. This was a really fun way for us to go outside of the Blacks (this WP had been writing Delphi before that) and explore something entirely new. Roselyn was the mother of Daphne and Astoria and she was in love with and then married her much older wealthy uncle who would've given her the Greengrass fortune anyway. She decided to keep her name and keep the blood line completely clean. She and Bellatrix went to Hogwarts together, both Slytherins of course. Roselyn was gorgeous and had long dark hair and hazel eyes and was excellent at potions and alchemy. When they were teenagers, Rosie had a real thing for Bella and Bella being who she was took complete advantage for a few years. After school things continued between them but when her mother died her uncle came into her life where he'd been absent before and she fell in love with him fairly quickly. During the height of the war Senor Greengrass was one of the key funders of Voldemort's cause alongside Cygnus Black and Abraxas Malfoy. As adults Roselyn and Bellatrix had a slightly tricky relationship, Roselyn didn't approve of Bellatrix's involvement with Voldemort, nor the closeness they seemed to exhibit. However, at the height of the war Roselyn did offer her a place to hide (in her palaces) should she ever need it. We head-canoned Bellatrix was on her way to Roselyn when she was captured. In my AU where Belladolphus have a son, Daphne and Alexander get married.

Macnairs. This one is a hard one to write about. I don't speak to the person who wrote this character anymore, she and I had an awful falling out and things became terrible between us to the point I had some really severe anxiety because of her harassment and bullying. I loved her character however, and we became friends years before because of the chemistry they had. They were essentially rivals to lovers again. They really struck through thick and thin for each other. Bellatrix was very dominant and possessive over her, but they were just as messy and bloodthirsty as each other, killing and fucking in blood and protecting each other. They were the sun and moon. We had a whole lore for them, created them in games we played together, they even got married in our main timeline and Bellatrix did some really fucked up dark magic to give them children. It was deep and detailed and dark and everything we were super into at the time. It was by far my favourite F/F relationship for Bellatrix.

Bellatrix has the latest witches couture fresh off runways. She’d have an array of well-suited colours (not as much black as people think) like silver, emerald, jade, crimson, purple, gold, cream, sapphire, azure. Not to mention the fabrics would be luxurious too. Chiffons, Egyptian cotton, dragon scale / bone. For battle her amour is specially sourced and reinforced and bound with some exceedingly strong magic but which are gorgeous too. She’d have beautiful lightweight fabrics that are spell-repellant and easy to move in. She’s from the richest family in the wizarding world and she acts like it.
