Esta impresionante escultura ubicada en la intersección de la avenida de las Cortes Valencianas con la calle la Safor, de 18 metros de altura y formada por 22.000 piezas de azul cobalto, inspirado en el color de las cúpulas de las iglesias de la ciudad, es la Dama Ibérica. Esta obra, del artista Manolo Valdés, está situada en una peana central de hormigón sobre una fuente de agua de dos niveles; el resto de la base está cubierto por un tapiz vegetal. Fue inaugurada en 2007. El monumento es un homenaje a la Dama de Elche, una simbólica escultura íbera realizada en piedra caliza entre los siglos V y IV a. C.. Se trata de un busto que representa una dama, de facciones perfectas, ricamente ataviada, con dos rodetes enmarcando el rostro, y en los que iría recogido su cabello. Finalmente, sabemos en qué perfil se inspiraron George Lucas y sus secuaces al concebir a la princesa Leia Organa. ...
