Ah-Choo by Marinette Dupain-Cheng
I am currently reading K-pop confidential and it mentions this song by Lovelyz. Marinette’s dance routine would be similar to the attached link, and she would be wearing a headset microphone.
https://youtu.be/O24HPE8-X1c
A talent show is coming up. The prize is a lot of money. The judge panel is Jagged, Manon and Clara. Go figure.
Chloé is joining just to show off her acrobatics.
Lila will be singing (lip-syncing) for the money.
Marinette also needs the money but what can she do? Dance? No, she’ll get klutzy.
She can sing. But what?
Alya suggests a love song to Adrien. But Marinette points out she can’t even speak French to him, let alone a love song in public
Alya suggests she sing it in a completely foreign language. No one will understand it and anyway, it’s good practise for confessions.
While searching for popular love songs that Marinette can sing, she comes across Ah-Choo. The song totally spoke to her, though Marinette stuttered instead of sneezed when face to face with Adrien. But that’s just as well. She didn’t want to give too big a hint as to who her crush was.
Studying Korean was going to be harder than Mandarin, though. At least Marinette knew a little Chinese. She never heard K-pop before.
Luckily Tikki was an excellent tutor. It also helped that she played the song on repeat while she slept.
Worried that she will stutter onstage if she directs the song at Adrien, Marinette decides to look at the back of the audience rows, where you could not identify any faces.
And when she sang, her voice was full of emotion. You could sense the hope and shy love she was expressing. And while her dance moves were pretty basic, they were endearingly charming, suitable for a girl shy around her crush. Also her dress was too cute!
She received rousing applause for her cover song.
So did Lila, but some music experts like Nino and Juleka immediately pointed out she was lip synching. the superstar judges already knew that and disqualified Lila, who thought the awesomeness of the recorded voice would make dancing unnecessary.
Angry and humiliated, Lila turns into Talent Thief to steal the talents of all the contestants. As Ladybug and Chat Noir fight Talent Thief, she rants about how the judges are biased because they all like Marinette personally.
Chat: um did you hear the applause for Marinette? I’m pretty sure the audience agrees with the judges.
Talent Thief shrieks and actually steals...his puns?
Ladybug: huh, for once I have no complaints.
Chat: harsh.
Alya: but Lila, how could Jagged be biased? Isn’t he your friend too?
Jagged: who said that? I never met that akuma girl before today.
Alya: but Lila said you saved her cat.
Talent Thief stole Alya’s ability to film live. So while Jagged was exposing her, at least there wouldn’t be a live audience.
Once the battle was over, Ladybug suggested that the audience decide the winner, though Lila is still disqualified for dishonesty. Seriously there were two other contestants performing lip-synching.
But Lila claims the audience will be influenced by the judges. Alya suggests Ladybug and Chat decide. Ladybug declines as she knows some of the contestants. Chat doesn’t mind. (He is friends with everybody) but he admits even he chooses Marinette because he found her song the most danceable.
Lila screams with rage, then accuses him of having feelings for Marinette.
The LadyNoir shippers and others who like Marinette then accusé Lila of being a sore loser.
Lila runs away, humiliated, again.
Meanwhile Marinette was asked what the song was called.
Marinette: i was singing Ah-Choo by Lovelyz, a K-pop group.
Some who read the lyrics, asked if she was dedicating the song to her crush.
Marinette blushes heavily. “Um, yes, but the point of singing it in a new language was to make it easier for me to confess onstage.”
Anyway, Marinette won the prize money which she used to buy new materials for her next clothing line.
Jagged and Clara insisted Marinette star in their respective music videos. Manon wanted her babysitter to keep performing for her.
Alya posted an interview telling her followers that Lila was a liar who did not know any celebrity but Adrien and Chloé. She apologizes for giving false information without checking facts.
The revelation that Lila was lying has her hiding at home. She knows that as it will only be a matter of time before her mother is contacted, she tries to claim that the whole school is plagued again and to avoid calls from the principal or any unknown numbers (like Alya’s). Troubled that her daughter’s education is getting disrupted, Mrs Rossi to send her to a tuition centre for extra studying. Well that sucks. As she browses the area with Lila, even Mrs Rossi can’t help noticing people pointing fingers at her daughter and muttering that “it’s the liar girl.” Upset, she confronts them. Long story short, Lila is exposed and dragged back to school to apologize in front of everybody. Her allowance is cut off, and so are her phone and laptop privileges. If she wants to call her mother in case of emergency, she can use an outdated cell phone that cannot download games. If she wants to do homework, she will have to write on paper and read heavy books.
Marinette was just relieved Adrien did not know who the song was for.
As she headed into class, Adrien congratulated her for her win.
Marinette smiled. “Thanks Adrien. That means a lot.”
Alya: wow girl, maybe performing your confession finally cured you of your stutter.”
And then Marinette sneezed.
Alya: oh come on!

Perceptive Manon
Tumblr media
Even she knew about Marinette’s crush...
Ever since Lila came into the scene, Marinette stresses the importance of identifying liars to Manon. For example, if someone keeps telling unbelievably tall tales without proof, chances are she’s a liar.
Tumblr media
Ever since her time as Prime Queen, Nadja teaches her Daughter that evidence is not what it seems.
So when Manon plays with the twins and they tell her about Lila, Manon thinks Lila is a liar.
The twins are shocked and try to defend their babysitter. When they have no proof for it, they ask Lila for proof. Lila doesn’t have anything but photoshopped images.
Manon easily identifies them as photoshopped because of Marinette’s lessons. Manon doesn’t read fashion magazines but she and Marinette had fun making clothes and art projects out of old issues. When Manon had commented on the models’ beauty and had gotten disheartened, Marinette encouraged her by telling Manon she was a beautiful girl already and that some magazines photoshop their models. Manon then became interested in identifying photoshopped pictures.
Manon’s claim causes some discord between the children, and Marinette and Alya agree that they should babysit the kids separately. In a way this is a good thing as Marinette has more free time and only does work she gets paid for.
Finally, when Lila claims she knows some celebrity that Manon herself is acquainted with (Lois Lane), Manon makes a video call in front of Alya and the twins to disprove Lila’s claim.
When that is over, Manon actually lectures Lila not to tell lies before Marinette calls her over.
The Césaire sisters are disillusioned and Lila makes a hasty exit.
Alya decides to make further inquiries.
She gets Rose to check with Prince Ali.
Alya promises to do a feature of Queen Bee if Chloe checks with Jagged and gets video/audio proof.
When Lila arrives at school with a ready excuse (she makes up tall tales to amaze kids so they will be more likely to listen to her and stop making a ruckus), the class immediately frowns at her. Chloe especially is out for blood after the events of Miraculer.
When Adrien tries to settle for peace, (he doesn’t like Lila but he doesn’t want akumas either) the class turns on him too because had he known all along?
Marinette is the one to put a stop to it. She reminds them that they do have a right to be angry with Lila but it’s not worth getting akumatized over.
They listen to her because they feel guilty. Everyone settles back into their seat.
Nino gives Adrien the silent treatment and Alya stops Marinette from talking to her crush.
Marinette manages to convince the pair to listen to Adrien and he admits he didn’t want to expose Lila because she always gets akumatized over it.
Alya reminds Adrien that those Lila lied to can get akumatized also. But seriously...Lila needs a therapist or counselling if even a gentle lecture gets her worked up.
Marinette then timidly reveals that Lila’s irritation with Adrien didn’t attract the akuma. It was originally after her. She had been feeling abandoned and betrayed that day. And...Lila threatened her too.
Her friends are horrified and guilt-ridden. Adrien now realized more than ever that Lila’s lies needed to be exposed. First Kagami, then Marinette. All his dear friends hurt because of Lila’s deception. He apologizes to Marinette for his role and promises to make it up to her (and Kagami)
The akuma did indeed turn up from the class’ mass outrage and waited around like last time.
Lila was on the prowl for it but her sullen irritation didn’t attract it. Neither did the class’ muted disgust, betrayal and anger.
No, the akuma was attracted to Chloe’s burning feelings of rage, revenge, and humiliation. Lila had humiliated her and toyed with her. And in the end, Ladybug had told her she wouldn’t be receiving the miraculous anymore. Chloe blames it all on Lila.
The akuma reaches her and transforms her into Antibug.
Antibug goes after Lila.
Marinette and Adrien go transform and reluctantly rescue the liar.
During the fight, Antibug cries out to Ladybug about why didn’t she expose Lila earlier. Ladybug admits she already exposed her and thought Lila’s lies would be uncovered. But then no one spread word about the incident, Lila went into hiding, and Ladybug decided to let the matter go.
This only reminds Chloe she has a score to settle with Adrien too. If he had exposed her earlier on, Chloe would never have listened to Lila and humiliated herself.
Chat is feeling guiltier by the minute. He never meant for his friends to get hurt. It was a mistake, a lapse in judgment.
Ladybug reminds Chloe that everyone makes mistakes. What is important is that you learn from them.
Chloe retorts that Lila hasn’t learned from it at all.
Ladybug can’t deny that. But she tries to reason with Chloe that she wants to be a hero, not a villain or vigilante.
Chloe then cries again that she can’t be a hero again, not according to Ladybug.
Ladybug says you don’t need powers to be a hero.
But Chloe wants powers!
Anyway, the heroes win the fight. Ladybug consoles Chloe and reminds her that people can be heroes by doing good deeds. Remember Despair Bear? (Chloe even mentioned then she didn’t need a costume)
Adrien apologizes to Chloe afterwards and she forgives him.
But Chloe isn’t done with Lila. She sets Sabrina to uncover all her lies, and ta da, Mrs Rossi and the faculty are informed of her truancy, feigned documents, and fake disabilities.
Lila is expelled. The harsh punishment may have been caused by Chloe’s temper tantrum and the principal’s fear.
To thank Chloe, Marinette convinces Master Fu to let her wear the Bee Miraculous so she can send Pollen to express Ladybug’s thanks to Chloe and for them to share a final farewell.
Chloe tearfully hugs Pollen goodbye and Pollen expresses how proud she is of how far her queen as matured.
Meanwhile, Adrien begins making amends to his friends.
To the class, he makes a public apology. They forgive him once they understand his reasoning.
To Kagami, he gives her a Polaroid camera so she can take selfies with her Mother and their fencing team.
To Chloe, he throws another party celebrating her heroic exposure of Lila. It focuses more on Chloe rather than Lila because Adrien isn’t spiteful.
To Marinette, Adrien has decided to become her personal alarm clock. Making detours on the way to school, he drops by to wake her up. He is surprisingly more efficient than her actual alarm clock. They then walk to school together. It doesn’t hurt that free pastries are involved.
And to think, they owe it all to Manon. Seriously, the twins make her a queen during a pretend game, Marinette gives her a whole cake to eat, Alya credits her on her blog when apologising to her followers for the interview with Lila, and Adrien takes a selfie with her and commends her journalist efficiency on his Instagram.
Nadja is so proud of her Daughter. Manon doesn’t understand what the big deal is but she isn’t complaining when there’s free cake.

Characterized
Nadja noticed Marinette has seemed down in the dumps, so she invites her to join her in taking Manon to Disneyland.
While Manon is on the kiddie ride, Nadja asks Marinette what is wrong.
Marinette admits life has grown tough since Lila returned.
1. Her suggestions are completely impractical but she goes all meek so the class pressures Marinette to accept her ideas, which just give her more work
2. Lila is a liar and keeps manipulating their class to do her bidding. They don’t realize how much they are damaging their own chances. Alya’s blog is now tabloid since she just posts whatever nonsense Lila made up. Rose hopes that by helping Lila, she will make an impression on Prince Ali, but he doesn’t even know the liar. (Nadja is secretly pleased Alya’s blog has sunk.)
3. Since Marinette is so swamped with work; Lila has become Alya’s go-to babysitter and is thus filling the children’s head with lies. Chris has become more demanding and proud since Lila started flattering his ego.
4. Her class think she is horrible for not accepting Lila’s fake peace offering. They don’t believe her that Lila is a liar. There is only so much damage control Adrien can do.
Unbeknownst to them, Manon had already ended her ride and snuck up on them, hearing Marinette’s troubles.
Later they are unable to take pictures with the Disney Princesses. Manon was upset but soon cheered up when Marinette promises to make her a princess gown.
At school, Manon sees for herself that Chris really has become impossible, and he never shuts up about his babysitter and dismisses Marinette.
Manon defends her babysitter and says Lila is a liar. Chris mocks Manon that she is still a little girl who plays Disney Princess, and she doesn’t know anything.
Upset on Marinette’s behalf, and still a bit miffed about her Disney princess letdown, Manon is akumatized into Mirror Princess. Her power is the ability to change any person into the Disney character they are most like.
She barges into Marinette’s class and zaps all the girls, turning them into Disney characters!
Marinette: Snow White, fairest of them all. Adrien isn’t surprised this at all. The difference is that Marinette’s hair looks way better than Snow’s.
Chloe: Evil Queen
Lila: Vanessa
Juleka: Ariel because she has trouble speaking up but wants to be part of the class
Rose: Aurora
I’ll let you imagine the rest for the girls but you get the idea.
Anyway, now that there are princesses and Manon can boast she has the better babysitter, she traps the girls in mirrors like a photo album.
The boys escape. Manon goes out to collect more princesses, after she rubs her album in Chris’ face.
Tikki had hidden herself when her owner’s purse had disintegrated, and contacts Adrien later. She explains her owner has been captured but she can still help to purify the akuma.
It takes a while for Chat to figure out how to use Ladybug’s lucky charm. Especially since it has so many uses.
Once the cure is cast, it does more then the usual cure. It restores Oblivio memories.
Adrien asks Marinette out on a date as soon as he can. She accepts and they are soon an official couple.
Because they want to thank Manon, Adrien gives Marinette expensive fabric and Swarovski crystals for her to use to make the dress.
They even bring Manon back to Disneyland so she can finally have her pictures taken with the Disney Princesses in her own Princess dress.
Gabriel is willing, partially because he had to fire Lila for bad reputation and is hoping the pictures of Adrien and his Girlfriend will invoke jealous akumas
Oh, and since Lila’s character was a sneaky liar whose pretty exterior hid a sea witch, people actually decide to investigate and Lila is exposed.
Lila had initially tried to put on tears and blame Marinette for badmouthing her to Manon, but Adrien won’t have her badmouthing his partner again. He snaps at Lila to give it a rest. And why not just let the class do some fact checking, if she is telling the truth, what is there to be afraid of? If her stories are true, Marinette will have to admit she is wrong. So just let them face check.
Lila is exposed. And like Vanessa, she somehow winds up with lunch box food in her face for all the times the class has served her lunch. Chris is horrified to learn he had been duped.
