Kinnikuman Nisei Opinion

Choujin tag arc Mantao was Superior in terms of written character compared to how he was written in the entire series where he was reduced to a hormonal pervert. Wish they had kept him like that the entire series

Sometimes I feel like Kid was written just to make the fans happy about Terryman and Natsuko having a son, but then he didn't gain popularity and they shifted to Kevin and Mantaro as the new Kinnikuman and Terryman - Cristy ;)

I mean, that's an interesting theory.

It's undeniable that he was a big part of the prologue, and his introduction (and design) was very much like that of his father, even down to the pacing and resolution. A lot follows that of the original, even the love triangle between Kinniku, human, and chojin; it'd make sense if Kid was intended to be a big supporting character, as it would follow that same formula and pattern, plus he was a major player in the initial arc and stayed a part of the social circle, too.

Like you say, he failed to gain popularity, whereas Kevin Mask seemed to explode in popularity, and - while I'd have to check the polls - I don't recall him being overly popular (although some of that might be him being under-utilised, because he and Mantaro were mentioned in the votes for most wanted tag-teams, for example).

There was a lot wrong with the writing for Nisei, as much as I love it, so it's hard to say what came first: the chicken or the egg. Did they shift to Kevin Mask because Kid was unpopular, or was Kid unpopular because they shifted to Kevin Mask? It may even be a combination of both, in all fairness, and even some other factors.

That being said . . .

I don't personally see Kevin Mask and Mantaro as being the new Terryman and Kinnikuman, and I actually don't see much of a resemblance between the two pairs (this is just personal, so others can feel free to disagree). They read to me - especially in light of 2011 - much more of a retelling of Robin Mask and Kinnikuman.

I think 2011 may back this up to an extent, as Terryman eventually took more of a back-seat, while Robin Mask provided a big driving force and even became a main character when Terryman was no character at all. It might not be a direct indication of popularity as such, and maybe more shifting times and writer's preference, but the Robin/Kinnikuman relationship reads very much like Kevin/Mantaro, so I think maybe the shift in Nisei was equally down to this change in focus (as opposed maybe solely to popularity).

Again, just a personal take :)

A Multiverse Versus

"Father and Son, 1v1!!"

Well hey there everyone, managed to get this finished and done a bit sooner than I thought I would. (To be real though it's not like I did too much new, just had to repurpose some side bits I was already working on for hopeful later posts.)

I have high hopes to do more things like this, a capturing of a moment in time. Whether it be a headcanon/fanfic moment, or a fan favourite reinterpretation from the manga or anime.

I shall call posts of this specific nature “MUSCLE Moments”, because Muscle you see. It's fitting right? Beefy Beef dudes, just slinging their Beefy muscles to beat down on each other. Definitely works for my liking.

To start this trend off here is something I would have wanted to see, and did do a lot in “Galactic Wrestling” on my PS2. - Kid Muscle Vs his Father in his Prime in a one on one match. Both with their respective Meat Sidekicks for guidance.

So I've had Kid Muscle/Mantaro revamped for a decent time, just sitting in the wings for a post of him mid face off against Kevin Mask. But I unfortunately never started Kevin and I wasn't going to be doing that task with a Trackpad. So rather than sitting on him further. Have him here head to head against his dear old dad, but younger.

The rest of what you see on display was heavily altered work of a really old bg I found from some old wrestling pixel game. Don't ask what it was called, I genuinely don't know. I saved it as “Wrasslin Pixel Ring” back in my youth. So who knows what it was from. Maybe I'll throw up the original at some point and you all can let me know. It was a really fun undertaking to do back a couple months ago, was doing it for this purpose of making in ring moments. (Something I had done a tiny bit of back in 2011) Bonus Points to whoever can figure out what moment in the classic Kinnikuman anime the ring's specific colors are based off.

With this text dump done, and these sprites and inaugural “Muscle Moment” shared. I shall now get back to my Ramen consumption, Kinnikuman reading, and anime watching. (Currently burning through “Mobile Fighter G Gundam” and “Ultimate Muscle”, enjoying the nostalgia) Expect some Kinniku Text thoughts in the near future, and I'll try doing more of these “Muscle Moments” again as soon as I can.

Kevin Mask

🍰 He's actually not fond of his mask. Outside of the ring he tends to accessorize with hats, and when he's not wearing them, he ties his hair up in a high pony or a bun for convenience.

🍰 He's quite the tea enthusiast. He occasionally goes for loose leaved, otherwise it's a variety of different tea bag blends. I see him being a Rooibos or Hibiscus type. He'd choose tea over alcohol.

🍰 Wears a thumb ring. It looks pretty rad.

Hello,can I ask a question about manga? I read Kinnikuman Nisei,but ending left me slightly confused. Who was cloaked figure in the end? Who helped Kevin and Mantaro fight? And also what happened to Warsman?! Did he really die? Why Mantaro revived others but didn't resurrect Warsman?! He had magic bulbs! I did't understand that part.

To my knowledge, the cloaked figure is never fully revealed (fan theory in the West is that this figure is Ataru Kinniku). It would make sense for it to be Ataru, especially at this point in the timeline, and it would fit into other figures - like Phoenix - being present.

Warsman is another unresolved one, and I can only speculate on all the loose ends. It's implied he died in the text, but never stated, and - if he died - why not a resurrection? If he did die, why take the body back? I can't say what Yudetamago intended, but fan theory is that he was severely injured and brought back to the future to recuperate (after all, not everyone got a bulb).

It's never stated, so you're welcome to head canon him alive or dead, but - even if he died - the Chojin Graveyard and other possibilities for resurrection exist. No one stays dead, after all, from the main cast.
